Anybody know if this is a "second generation" MacBook Air?

Do you think if you installed an ssd in your mbp that it will be able to use this power nap function. I have a time capsule and this would be awesome to use with it.

To enable PowerNap:

Must have a mac with a SSD (not a 3rd party SSD, but a Apple one... Like the Mid 2011 MBA etc.).
Start the Mac App Store and go to Updates.
Install the SMC Update for the SSD.

Restart

Go to Sys. Prefs/Energy Saver.

Lame that 3rd party SSDs aren't supported but I suppose it makes sense in terms of AppleCare.

I dont know if the matter is in SSD or MEGASAFE 2

if in SSD so it is easy to update any old mac (supporting ML)

if n MEGASAFE 2 then no hope

I am looking forward to the update for the rMBP. For the air users, does it still play sounds when notifications come in? So if you get a notification can you hear it with the lid closed?

I must say, this is absolutely ridiculous to leave out for those of us who upgraded our MBP's to SSD. Usually I'm okay with Apple leaving features out for some devices, but to leave out 2011 and 2012 MBP's with SSD is outrageous.

I can understand the frustration but control is the key for the Apple gods I guess. But I assure you, there will be a little app out there to tweak the OS on all the others to enable power nap as a feature for the masses.

Does anyone know if Power Nap will be available to be taken advantage of by third party developers? This would be extremely useful with apps that backup your system like Carbon Copy Cloner and CrashPlan.

^^ Right... somewhere I have a PB170 that has been taking a power nap since about 1998 when the backlight on the screen went, again.

Personally, if I put a machine to sleep, I want it to SLEEP, period.

At least it's opt-in (for now?).
