Pre Paid iPhone

Please explain what you mean. EDGE works perfectly fine on prepaid accounts. If you are having an issue, it's most likely an account setup issue or service area availability.

Can you be more specific on how AT&T turned off the minute counter (was this a kiosk visit or a phone call) as I have spoken with customer service and gotten nothing but stonewalled :mad: - Thanks

Guys if you want to go prepaid, when you activate your iPhone type 999-99-9999 as your social secuirity number you will automatiacally fail the credit check. Note I have not tested but read this somewhere else on the net.:)

This is a pretty serious issue with the iPhone... has anyone heard from AT&T customer service about how to disable these messages? Has anyone confirmed there is a solution in the works? Thanks...
 
I called and spoke to a superviser, they were able to disable it, they needed to uncheck a box.......havenot had it since the 2 day :) and korndog is correct i am a she......

Thanks Cybergypsy - which number did you call to get this done? Was it the 1-800-331-0500 number for ATT wireless customer service?

Anyone else able to get ATT to disable this "feature"?

Sorry I can't be of any help, but this has been an ongoing thing with Cingular for years.

I've yet to see proof of the problem resolved.

Edit: Cybergypsy, sorry bout the he/she thing. And I guess it's good to hear you've gotten someplace with this issue. However, you're the first I've heard of.

I called At&t today and they told me there was no way to turn off those messages, and that they weren't working on an issue to resolve it. The only way is to switch to a contract plan, which you can do.

Unfortunately, when my phone was on over night, I had to click through about 100 of those dismissal buttons since it must've been using edge on and off. Hopefully somebody else has some better news than I do.

I don't mind those messages. It's a good way to know how much money you are using up.

I wouldn't mind them if they only came on when I was doing something that affected my account, like say a phone call, but since my text and data is unlimited, what's the point in telling me every time I use that? It says you've used 0.00 and have a balance of xx.xx... I mean seriously. It gets really annoying. ugh. At&t needs to address this. At the very least it should be defaulted on with a user ability to turn it off. I'll sign something if they need me to.
 
And you'd think it would be of some concern to Apple. They've created such an elegant and innovative mobile phone, while AT&T's P.Y.P. service pollutes the model.
 
Bad Credit Check?

Does anybody know if your credit score is hit when you fail the credit check? It would be bad if you couldn't qualify for other loans, because you activated a prepaid iPhone. :confused:

Honestly, what sense is there in lying to the community? This message cannot be turned off. At least not by calling the terrible people who work for AT&T customer service.
 
what happaned when i got my iphone

Hey im new here but i had to share with you guys my expeirience with ATT and the iPhone activation process:

I got home and was in the middle of the iphone activation process when because i read online that if your under 18 you put all your information on there youll fail the credit check so you can turn it pre paid

so i did that but instead a window came up saying that my new mobiel number was .... and i thought about it i cant have a contract because im not 18 im only 16 but then my iphone lit up and its all activated and useable.

so i called att and they eventually waived the early termination fee etc and they told me to go to an att store buy a new sim card put it in the iphone and reactivate but put in this special number under the SSN slot so it would bypass me to the gophone website.

but even after they terminated my contract since the iphone cant be deactivated its totally useable with WiFi and ipod everything except the phone and text.

but i actually am going to get a new sim and reactivate as prepaid becasue i NEED EDGE becasue its a pain becase not everywhere has WiFi.

This prepaid thing is sounding good. I used to get messages on my Cingular phone every time I made a call, but all I had to do was phone them and ask them to turn that off and it was fine. I also don't use many minutes and I can easily email my SMS's, so this looks like the best plan for me.

How to add prepaid phone card pin numbers on an iphone?

I got the prepaid iphone plan and I wanted to know to add prepaid phone card pin numbers on the iphone.

I got 100 African Beauty phone cards on ebay
 for very cheap,but I do not know how to upload or save the pin numbers on the iphone.I thought it would be easy!
Please Help.
