Talked to apple rep this morning. Order Cut-off for early shipments was April 18th. If you ordered before this date you're ok. She said that folks will have their iPad delivered on Friday. She also said not to worry about what the online status says. Their system will send out a shipment e-mail, when it ships.

My two orders are in a sort of weird state.
Did a mixed order the instant the link went live - for a 64GB 3G along with some accessories (already received). That order still says Not Yet Shipped.
Ordered a second 64GB 3G a week later. Solo. That one says Ready To Ship.

That is the key point, once you see that your credit card has been charged then start looking for shipping notification in your email. It should follow shortly after your credit card has been either authorized for the final charge or the actual charge on the credit card is completed.
Actually, as long as you placed the order ON the 18th (before the 19th), you are okay. That is what an Apple representative told me just now. They also told me that they still don't know which carrier will deliver (UPS or FedEx) but that the shipping notices should go out tomorrow for overnight delivery. She thought it was odd that they were keeping the whole thing a big mystery, but maybe they are worried about people tracking the carriers and trying to steal iPads or something mundane like that.
Mine just updated to "Prepared for shipment" as well but I don't have a charge on my bank account...not even a "pending" charge. Free iPad for me?!
UPDATE: LOL! My Apple Acct still says "Prepared for Shipment" from yesterday, but now my CC account no longer has a 'pending' charge as well. In fact, the $600+ has been returned back to my credit line, haha. I'm sure it will be deducted again...I'll give it a few hours before I call the bank.

I just got off the phone with Apple regarding an unrelated charge, anyway, I did ask about my order and the guy told me that it showed my unit was shipping from Jonestown, PA. and scheduled for Friday!
To say the least I was very surprised it was already here and I now have no worries about customs delays.
So I BET we don't see shipping tracking till Thursday!

Some people have already seen shipping tracking...check some of the other threads (I know they're 60 pages long) but some of them have the screen shots from the shipping confirm. I guess what the guy told you confirms that Apple stocked up over here in the States?
the Tracking on the First Rollout of the WiFi Version was all over the Map even on Saturday the Delivery Date..

I ordered on March 12 within minutes of the store coming back online (5:33 AM PDT to be exact) and mine still shows Not Yet Shipped and Ships Late April as well. No credit card charges either. Mine's a 32GB.
Coming to North East TN, ordered 4-18-10 @ 3:47 pacific, 16gb 3g..."not yet shipped". Here's hoping for an overnight delivery notice tomorrow.

I think I've spent more in the App store these few weeks than all year...
Mine was ordered April 20th and it says "Ships by: May 7th" ack!!! I might not get mine for another week and a half. Darnit :-(
