I submitted a bug report to Apple last week, and they responded to me today via their Bug Reporter website that my issue is a duplicated of bug #22406129 which is "closed". Does anyone know how to view bug #22406129 to learn how or if Apple has resolved the issue?

Hey guys!
Have a little problem with my preview.app - when I want to open an Image, it shows me just a green screen ...

https://www.dropbox.com/s/m2anyd6s99f52bu/Screenshot 2015-09-02 01.46.42.png

Has anyone the same issue and is aware of a work-around or something? Restart did not help.

It's a JPG-picture, shot by a Canon 550D, 16MP, around 4,5MB in size. I've no idea what's wrong there.
(I'm aware, this is a beta and it might just be an issue that will get fixed - but maybe someone knows a quick solution / work-around etc.)

thanks!

I have the same problem with large picture files in the final version

I had this issue with my late 2013 13"rMBP exactly as described above, large jPegs would appear as a green screen.
I have just replaced this machine with an early 2015 13" R rMBP and the issue has gone away.
The new machine was set up by migrating my setup from the old 2013 machine so I`m thinking it`s a specific issue with that year/model.

I can obviously only base this theory on my experience but it certainly went away for me. Perhaps a hardware issue specific to the 13" rMBP with El Cap?

Jep, it seems to be an Intel HD 5100 "Iris" related problem ...

I have the same problem since the update on El Captain 10.11 last week!

Buddy, you just cloned my signature! But I'm using a lighter gray, not the standard black, looks more faded. :p

Finally!!! The problem is gone with OSX 10.11.1! Yaaay! :D Well, at least for me and for now. What about the others?
Sounds awesome! I just gave mine to Apple for screen repair (Staingate...), tomorrow I can hopefully confirm this for the late 2013 as well! :)

I'm downloading 10.11.1 Public Beta 3 right now, hope they fixed that bug! I'm gonna let you know.
I just tried my large JPG images on 10.11.1. Still busted - green rectangle, part of photo shows up at different zoom level.

This was an issue back in Yosemite, if I remember correctly....I cannot believe Apple let's stupid bugs like this past QC....

Paul.

Now that's strange. The problem is gone for some but persists for others... How can that be?

For those who still have problems: Have you tried a PRAM reset after updating to 10.11.1?

After reading your post I tried PRAM reset....no change.

It is truly bizzarre that I would have the same problem I had on an 2011 Macbook Pro 15 back some 3 years ago....that problem went away when I switched to an 2014 Retina 13. And now it's back.....

For me, the problem persists. I'm doing a PRAM Reset now.
If this doesn't help, well, maybe a clean install will bring success - I'll update.

Update 01: No success with PRAM Reset so far. Next up: clean install (+ data recovery via migration assistant from time machine backup)

Update 02: With the first of the two Picture options (1 pixel equals ...), the picture is just green (even without zooming), with the second option (equals print ...), the picture gets green after zooming in and/or out.

The issue with the green rectangles in large JPGs in Preview seems to be fixed in 10.11.2, at least for me.

As posted elsewhere, the Recovery Internet installation is installing 10.11.2, so I got the new version this way.

Paul.

I have the same problem with my rMBP 13" just updated to the 10.11.1 today and problem still exists, but I will be waiting for the official release of the 10.11.2..

No problems opening those images in Photoshop and iPhoto though..
