It seems like the pricing for the new Mac Cylinder could be high especially with the solid state internal drive. The current pricing for a one TB solid state drive is around $1K. Any thoughts?

2013 Mac Pro "guess the price" game
What will the standard model cost? And for that matter, what will the standard model be?
My guess:
12 core CPU = $1200
1 TB SSD = $600
midrange AMD GPU x 2 = $1200
16 GB RAM+case+other stuff = $700
---
$3700 in the apple store.
Also, anyone want to guess what its geekbench score will be? I don't.

That's a rather bogus comment. I'm a Mac Pro customer and I care about costs. It's business 101, cost vs. value. I even care about energy consumption & noise. It all factors in... Granted, you can expect it to be expensive, but if it's too expensive (cost not justified for purpose), there are many other options. We're not all cookie cutter users, and when you look at the cost for a 12 work station office, cost is a very important factor.
No, thats not true at all. if its too expensive and limited which it clearly will be many customers may opt to Switch to something like the HP workstations or other competitors. Many already have.
If the entry level price is 2499 or greater, I am sure not very many will consider it a bargain. Here's hoping since its made in the USA, it will be a lot cheaper.

Are you serious ???? Even with the lowest wages they will find in the South (have you seen where they will be building them) you will have Goober building your mac at four times what it would cost over seas.
Why do you think nearly ALL manufacturing has left the states ?
When Obama met personally with Steve Jobs and asked him to bring the manufacturing back to the states Job's said "It will Never Happen!" So now that Steve is gone Cook folds......
Prices will be much HIGHER on anything made/assembled in the states. Thank the Unions for that.

For the most part, it has.. while there are some manufacturing jobs still, the majority have been sent overseas.

Isn't it close to the same actually? The only difference may be that Uncle Sam was paying Apple to manufacture it abroad. So now it may be more expensive as Apple won't be getting those subsidies any longer?
On MSRP I guess it will be higher than it should be - this is Apple after all. But I guess, if they were to maintain the same percentage ratio (Cost:MSRP) then we could see these as low as $1,200 for the base model. I don't think we will but if... then...
And to be clear, now that we know what the MP6,1 basically is we can safely say that it's price will probably be the single most crucial factor which will determine whether or not the MP6,1 will be a success or a failure.

The bottom end will probably be a 6 core $300 CPU and maybe we will see some stratification of cards and a 256 or 500 GB SSD option. With all that hopefully they can get the base price around $2000. I just don't see how this little thing will actually sell well if its $2500-$3000, or more, for the base model when you still need a TB RAID enclosure to have meaningful storage.

Not necessarily. Next time you go shopping, check the labels. You will find that goods made in the USA are cheaper than most of the things made from outside the USA. Unions have nothing to do with it, it's actually good that we have unions, if not then we would be no better off than places like China with slave and child labor.
