I am, per the below image, getting a message that the "Printer is out of paper" when it is actually full of paper. I note that this is new to Sonoma and Printer Center.

How do I get rid of the message!

Thank you.

Mine is showing the always out of paper too. Works fine, is NOT out of paper, but the printer queue window has the red symbol there now. Is a networked Ricoh multifunction with the latest Ricoh driver etc. Sonoma on macbook m1pro

perhaps, in general, some printer drivers need to be updated for sonoma? just a guess...

There is nothing to adjust (at least that I can see).

Hopefully Appel will fix this, it is very annoying!

Perhaps (and hopefully that is the easy answer / fix).

Worth noting, I did check the printer and there is no firmware update. :(

I noticed that as well. I have an HP wireless laser printer and no matter what i've tried I get the out of paper indicator. However it does print so i'm not to bothered by the red symbol.

On a side note, I was unaware about the Print Center app in MacOS. I have used HP Smart for Desktop app. What's weird about Print Center is that it shows up in my Utilities folder on my 2018 Mac Mini running MacOS Sonoma. It's not there on my M2 Mini although it launches automatically when I queue something to the printer.

I got my hands on my second MBP (also Apple Silicon) and installed the very same printer. The error message did not appear. There is therefore something on my machine that is causing this problem. Aaaarrrrrgggg!

Apple has yet to find a solution.

erase and reinstall macos

Agreed that approach should work but I am looking for something more surgical.

The time and effort it would take to do a complete / full rebuild from scratch is more painful than the error message. While perhaps a long-shot, I am hoping tha Appele can come up with a solution that does not require a full rebuild!

it is extremely simple, easy and fast. Backup your documents, erase and install new system.
Or buy another printer.

Agree that the prices is simple but reinstalling all the software and customization / settings is -- at least to me -- fairly time consuming. I have spent a lot of time tweaking the setup to get it exactly how I like.

I usually bit the bullet and start from scratch +/- every 3 years when I purchase a new MBP.

Will wait and see what Apple says as I have a follow ups alls scheduled with them tomorrow.

my gut feeling they will recommend same treatment..after all, it is not hardware, it is your software setup

Apologies if you tried the following suggestion already:
Is it possible to do a "factory reset" on the printer itself?

Appreciate the suggestion but nothing really there. I have updated the firmware, no change.

Quick update...

1. I got my hands on another MBP, installed my printer, no similar error message. The problem is with my laptop.

2. I spoke with Apple, they took a bunch f information and sent it along to engineering. Let's see!

This just started occurring for me when I added a new printer. Now the new and existing printer present either or both of these error messages (out of paper and out of toner). Neither is true, of course.

Sorry to read this and -- unfortunately -- welcome to the club. With a little luck Apple will have a solution for this bug!
