Coming from a 14 pro and definitely want to go to the big phone. I was planning to do the plus if it indeed had no notch and usb-c, but now I'm on the fence.

I feel like I don't need any pro features (would possibly miss the macro camera a little), but I don't want to have regrets. I'm going through ATT, so returns are next to impossible, so when I preorder today I have to be fairly certain.

WWYD?
question,

why are you going through ATT?

you can still order directly through Apple enter your ATT account details and purchase like if you were buying directly from ATT

the 15 plus is basically the 14 pro only difference would be the screen size.

Having had both, I can tell you:
-the plus will feel much lighter and even smaller and more comfortable to hold
-the screen never was that big of an issue TBH
-the camera was a bit of an issue but it seems much better now
-the battery life was insane!

Pro max is great, what's not to like, BUT its a BRICK - and it still will be sadly..

15PM. Trust me you will want it. You do this every year LoL

😆 She gets a new phone every year.

I would like to stop doing that. I'm hoping whatever I get now. I'll go at least two years. I'd like to alternate upgrading watch and phone, and I'm not doing watch this year.

Plus I was really torn between pro and pro max last year (plus wasn't an option because I was ready to lose the notch).

so the plus has the 14 pro camera now?
It looks like new smaller sensor albeit in the same 48MP format. So Pro should still be superior.
But if one knows how manufacturing works, then coming with a new downgraded sensor actually costs more money than limiting the more expensive one - so probably they could have the same sensors but limited by software.

Back in the day I had 2 panasonic headphones - one was very bad sounding and second was great. Tear down from websites revealed that everything in those 2 headphones are the same (drivers and design). One was sounding worse cause it was 2x cheaper - to make it sound worse they just drilled a small hole to evap all your bass - once i plugged that hole with a toothpick, they became equal.

If money were no object, I would always pick PM. On the fence too this time, especially since they bumped the base PM up another $100

Exactly. Buy from apple not from at&t.

The pro max this year is supposed to be a lot lighter because of the titanium. I might upgrade my 14 pro max for this reason alone.

Standing by my opinion that if you want to break the yearly habit... buy Pro Max!

No firsthand experience with iPhones but the A17 Pro chip looks like a monster... possibly outpacing the M2 (which is a bit disheartening in my view but whatever). It would be a great investment.

And then the next update will be even better since so many holdouts made by apple this year. Basically not that iphone 6 was bad but 6s was much better.

These benchmarks indicate its very incremental from a16

Well I have done ATT the last couple years and had no issues, but I am likely gonna go through Apple since I got their email to set up the pre-order.

201g - 15 plus (16.25% lighter)
221g - 15 pro max (7.91% lighter)
240g - 14 pro max

And what is tempting is that there would be a drop in weight even from the regular 14 pro if I went with the plus.

And yeah I guess I do struggle between what I THINK I need vs what I actually need. LOL

Thing is, I had goals this year to pare down devices and go with simpler ones because I really didn’t NEED the best of everything. I ditched my cellular 12.9 pro and my cellular mini 6, and went to an Air 5 to take the place of both, knowing I was gonna jump to a larger screen phone to sort of take my mini’s place for reading and stuff in bed. My goal was to go with the plus because who really NEEDS a $1200 phone?

But of course now I can’t help but wonder if I’d like the additional features on the pro.

And yeah I post about it because the feedback helps me to think things through more thoroughly. Different people make different points to consider, and it helps.

Oh. I thought the whole "move to 3nm" thing would be giant?

Hard to say until reviews and hands on come out but doesn’t seem so. No real battery life advantage and no real benchmark advantage

3nm may be advantageous next go round

Imo while all models are nice the regular ones got spruced up a lot and the pro’s are being milked hard

Last year felt the inverse was true

I would get the plus, it's about the same as the 14 Pro (same chip, same camera) and it has a better battery and is lighter. Also, you save money. Unless you really want the new camera, or you really are pushing your phone's chip, the Plus is better for you.
