Okay. Can anyone explain to me where the SIL connector is?
Its combined with the HDD cable

Edit: for the 2011 models at least, I presume its the same on the 08

That doesn't make sense...
You've only switched the RAM-Chip(s).
You had to remove the battery before.
Why should this affect any sleeping mode /SIL unless you've damaged the logic-board.
What about the hard drive? Try to boot from external hard drive via usb or just change the MacBooks hard drive and reinstall a plain OS 10.6.

On the 17" '09 I've been fighting with for the past two weeks, the SIL is on its own ribbon cable. I'm not that intimately familiar with the 13" LB, but I do see an empty connector between the RAM socket and the keyboard ribbon. I think this is roughly the location of the SIL connector on my '09 17".
