Would you give an example in the speed difference between last year Pros and now? Maybe a game or app that takes long to open up or a website that takes awhile? I have last year’s 12.9 Pro, I want to see if there is an appreciable difference.

Upgrading from 9.7 is worth it for either new one, not sure 12.9 really is.

I'd say the new gen iPad Pro is future proof for iOS 11 with the much faster processor ... not sure if under iOS 10 it really matters. My iPad Air feels plenty "snappy" under iOS 10 doing basic stuff.

with iOS 11 there will be more capabilities and the faster processor will really shine

As was i lol. Anyways someone in youtube did a latency test of 60 vs 120

And here's actual comparison of ProMotion vs NoMotion hehe

impressive... now if one would only scroll in 120 fps slow motion in real life ;)

Even though i returned the 10.5 for different reasons, i already miss the 120hz on my iPhone :/

Reference #10. I understand where you're coming from regarding the 9.7 was only manufactured for approximately a year. However, I can tell you, for the time being, Apple will not replace the 9.7 with a 10.5 iPad. They have warranty devices for that unit and that unit only.

Speaking of which, the winner for shortest official availability for any iOS device was iPad 3rd Gen (~7 months). That hit home for me. I guess 9.7 iPP is #2, at about 1 year. I'd probably feel similar to how I felt when I found out my iPad was already second-rate just a few months after I got it. Except, I am sure the 9.7 iPP isn't underpowered like the 3rd Gen was.

I just purchased 10.5, an upgrade from air2 and with the exception of size and the pen it's not that much of a difference. Yes more apps will probably work faster and the viewing very slightly nicer but unless one needs the size and memory it's really a non-event.

Why did I get it? The pen was the key for me. I like the idea of actually writing and drawing on the screen. The old foam rubber styluses really were marginal. The pen on this is really good; maybe as good as writing on real paper.

Oh and neither the 12.9 or the 10.5 will replace OSX.

Went to my local Best Buy and played around with it. The ProMotion is nice! You can definitely see it but I don’t think it would be worth it for me to update from an IPP 9.7 to a 10.5. I have contemplated on maybe going with the 12.9

I'm coming from an iPad Air (first generation) so jumping to the 10.5 Pro is mind boggling. Also, 4GB RAM makes a huge difference compared to 1GB RAM.
Congrats! I was weak and caved last year and got the Pro 9.7. Just couldn't stand 16GB anymore. :p

Didn't want to buy into the hype but walked into the Apple Store and the moment I touched the new one I unexpectedly let out a wow!

I was in war shot of an employee and he just looked at me and said, I know.

We had a moment lol

Fantastic upgrade and it is unbelievable when scrolling web pages and through lengthy emails.

Unreal.

Well I cannot measure frame rate but Rayman Jungle Run totally smokes.

I don’t know about Promotion but if one plays long enough you can get motion sickness. :)
