iPod touch pwnage tool 2.0 software released

went back to 1.1.4 ... there is NOTHING in installer now... cant get customized or summerboard to work. wish I could.

any ideas? ive been trying to find the .plist that controls that apps as well.

i dloaded appstore to my computer before I did this to see if there was A CHANCE it would work in 1.1.4

Used Cydia to download OpenSSH. Then I went into each Application and replaced the icon.png. The Dock I went into System>Library>CoreServices>SpringBoard.app then replaced SBDockBG with a file I had saved from a favorite Theme.

I don't like over the top but just a cleaner interface. i also changed the Badges to Black...

Quick question: how do i restore with the .ipsw file that PwnageTool makes? I restored once by clicking restore in iTunes but nothing happened.

Did you hold down the Option/Alt button on the keyboard before clicking the restore button.

PS. Everyone should use this guide.

ahh, you did it manualy, i thought you used an app....
 
Guys I hate to ruin this thread with a newb question, but, I couldn't find anywhere clearly, does jailbreaking either 2G or 3G iPhone allows to use it freely as a regular cell phone? Without having to be on those stupid plans?

app store is for 2.0 wont work on 1.1.4

installer: open installer, click install, scroll to sources and install community sources THEN go back and look for summerboard and customize ;), by default installer will just have the 2 installer sources none of the main sources so always best to install community sources first

Jailbreaking allows you to run Non Apple App Store apps on your iPhone. What you are referring to is Unlocking the iPhone. Currently only the iPhone 2G can be unlocked. Unlocking for the 3G is in progress.

Wish I could see if there is any progress on 3G unlocking.

yeah, i know... thanks for answering a question that wasn't asked. if you go back and read i was trying to see if app store would work if i copied it to a 1.1.4 framework.
 
This is BS I did everything step by step. Nothing Happened, just a big waste of time. If you guys have time to waste for nothing download this. Stupid thing nothing works for me.:apple:

Perhaps you missed in the last comment but App Store will not work on firmware <1.1.4. 2.0's framework is different than previous versions and even older apps from installer will need to be recompiled to work on 2.0. :)

I think you missed a step. :)

What do you mean by "nothing happened" and "doesn't work for me". The steps were pretty easy and I was able to pwn my iphone with ease. :)

Ok I got it to work the second time. It was fairly easy.
The first try I did the automated method for the Original iPhone.

I have it Jailbroken/Unlocked to V2.0
The easier to save everything in one directory.

1. Download Pwnage 2.0 (Here
2. Download Bootloaders (Here)
3. Download Firmware from iTunes, this is the best method. (stored in ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates)
4. Click on the iphone and do Expert mode
5. Follow the steps to pick the Firmware and the two bootloaders.
6. then Under the expert panel you should see 6 icons and the Build button at the bottom.
7 click on general and select update baseband.
8 Everything else should be setup automatically (all the settings for different icons)
9 You can change to default apple logo from the pineapple logo under the custom logo icon.
10. Build
11. Save it to the same folder or somewhere u can find it again
12. Put iphone in recovery mode (*Keep it connected to the computer via the USB* Turn it off then hold home button until you see connect to computer. Some phone you will have to hold sleep/wake + home button after the phone is turned of to put it into recovery)
13. After its in recovery, goto itunes and you should see the iphone. click on restore while (alt/option is pressed). This will open a dialog and ask you for the ISPW (firmware) file. Select the firmware you just built.
14. Let it fully restore the phone.
15. Enjoy

Those directions worked perfectly. I gave my 1st gen. to my uncle who came to visit from China. It accepted his China SIM card w/o having the "incorrect sim card" message.

Sorry, Pwnage Tool is for iPod Touch and iPhone and jailbreaks, not unlocks, however it can unlock original iPhones. The iPod doesn't need unlocking. :)
