I think it's disabled for now as dev team does not know how to unlock the newer baseband.
Anyways, I'm on 3.1.2 jailbreak ultrasn0w unlock. everythings working perfectly except for carrier name but I prefer it like this as it's much neater. Just trying to enable battery% now..
iPhone 3G(S)
Use PwnageTool to do the magic and then restore with iTunes using your newly created .ipsw
been reading this: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4254
it still mentions going into DFU mode... when the dev team say no need to... so confused again!!
why can't someone post a proper step by step guide? lol
does this mean i will have to set up my phone as a new iphone after i jb? will it erase all my apps etc or will i keep them?
psywzrd said:As far as battery %, you should be able to enable that within the settings on the phone itself - it's a stock feature that can be toggles on and off.
So I know I have to use this on my Mac. The issue I have is that my iPhone syncs with my Windows XP computer and all my settings, backups, etc on are that. Can I unlock this on my Mac then plug the iPhone in to my XP machine and restore the backup there? Thanks!
So does this tool actually unlock a 3.1 or 3.1.2 iPhone 3Gs that has never been JB or Unlocked!!
It seems to say that, but I would love to hear if anyone on the forum has done this and how simple it was.
I'm currently following the Iclarified tutorial to jailbreak, I've created the custom ipsw and have got as far as PwnageTool asking me to "connect device to USB", which I do, but Pwnage won't recognize that my iphone is connected.
I keep disconnecting and reconnecting my phone and iTunes (v9.0.1) can find it but PwnageTool cannot.
Anyone else have this problem?
You don't need pwnage tool at that point - just itunes. If you're on a Mac, click Alt/Option+restore in iTunes and select the custom ipsw you created. If you're on Windows, it's Shift+restore.
Tried that, but a message pops up saying that the firmware is not compatible.
What model iPhone have you got and what is the name of the firmware you downloaded?
I have an Iphone 3G, currently on 3.0 jailbroken using Redsn0w. I downloaded: iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw using Pwnage Tool I created iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore.ipsw which keeps failing when I try to select in itunes.
Should I be in 3.0.1 first?
That's the 3GS firmware - you have the wrong ipsw.
