Ah, I didn’t know you can do this.

So the black market account has all the info including 3 CVS number on the back of the credit card?

Well the reversal would leave you owing but if you have 0 balance in your PayPal account not sure if they can take it back from your bank. Technically it goes back from where it purchased.

I’m assuming these black market accounts have a short lifespan before the real card holder disputes fraud in a 30 day billing cycle.

I guess Selling with cash in hand locally, though can be also dangerous, is safer with cash in hand exchange. I’ve sold and bought via PayPal without worry, we’ll until now.

In my situation after payment was received, i transfered the money to my account so my paypal only had afew dollars. After a few weeks. I saw my paypal negative -$389. If u dont pay payapl the negative balance they will close your account. Collection and messup ur credit.

Always sell in cash meet in public places. Have a money pen with. Already had an experience with someone giving me fake money (which looked 99% real) to the untrained eyes

Yeah see this is the stuff I don’t want to deal with. I just either want To sell the phone or keep it. This is the exact reason I don’t do online selling.

You ignore the 10 regular verified members that tell you it's 100% safe and tell you it's the best way to do it and you listen to the one random poster no one knows with broken English because it fits your narrative? Give me a break dude, no one has that issue with PayPal.

Try to find a local buyer. Take cash in a public place and walk away safe. Not worth the risk. I sell stuff on Craig’s List all the time. Take a bit of weeding out the tire kickers but you know when someone is serious. Meet in public and walk away with cold cash. No fees!

Nothing I said was racist. You think it's a coincidence that literally everyone has said the opposite of what you've said?

Why are you discouraging him from selling it to me? I'm a legit buyer. In person is much riskier in terms of safety.

It seems neither of you are comfortable with this transaction so why not just forget it?
What are you talking about? I'm 100% comfortable with this transaction, I'm just not stupid enough to wire someone money with no security, as others have said.

I would recommend using a PayPal invoice and make sure it is incredibly detailed. By that, I mean to make sure you list the condition of the iPhone, all of the included accessories, the iOS version currently installed, model and serial number of the iPhone. Also, there's a part on the invoice where you can put the Terms and Conditions which PayPal recommends "include your return or cancellation policy"

Here's a link to PayPal invoices for more information: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/invoicing-templates

But in my opinion, the invoice would help protect you as a seller since you could be as descriptive as possible, and the buyer would have the PayPal buyer protection. That way if the buyer claims something wasn't as described you can refer to the invoice as it will have all of the details of the purchase.

I've sold many phones through Swappa.com and used PayPal for the payment with zero problem. I've also sold an iPhone to somebody on this website where PayPal was the payment method with no trouble at all. Of course when you search for issues you will see more issues than you will see of anything else. Generally speaking, people who are content with a product or a service won't discuss it, but people who aren't happy with a product or service will go out of their way to let everybody know.

And he’s apparently not comfortable with using PayPal. So keep it moving and find another device, can’t force someone to do something.

Not everyone has bad experience. Which i did and giving my personal thought. Now not every one have had bad experience since there are honest buyers. But just like everything in life. Theres those people trying to scam you and like i said. I was scam someone who paid me with paypal. And almost got scam by someone paying me with fake money in person. We share experience to help each other not to say whos right or wrong here.

He wants a wire transfer, you won't. You want PayPal, he doesn't. You're for all intents and purposes, DONE. Move on.
It’s understandable why the seller would want a wire transfer and why the buyer wouldn’t want to do that. Perhaps at this point it is best to just move on.

No it's 100 x more reasonable for me to want to use PayPal over a wire transfer than vice versa, as you can clearly see from the replies in this thread.

I actually posted in support of using PayPal for this transaction. But as the others said it doesn’t seem like you’ll come to an agreement on this one with the seller.

I just told him I’m not comfortable using PayPal. For one I have to have the cash to buy another phone before I can sell this one. For 2 I don’t want to pay PayPal fees. I don’t want the hassle if I was gonna go through the hassle of it I would’ve just sold it on a site like swappa. I don’t really even have to get rid of the iphone I was just thinking about getting a note 9.

Fair enough, based on this it seems like it would probably be a better option for you to sell locally as you’d be able to avoid fees and you’d get the cash in hand immediately. I’ve heard of good things using Facebook Marketplace for local sales.

Yeah I agree. That’s probably what I will do or just keep the phone. And might wait til the s10 comes out then sell my X

Oh give me a break, I will pay the fees

Just add the fees in to the total and I will pay them

I don’t even know how much the fees are, I never used PayPal before.
Ok well I'm sure we can figure that out easily. This is silly, we can make this work. It's really not that complicated, I want the phone badly and you want the note. I promise you this is the most secure way, as everyone has reassured you. I am even willing to go above and beyond and pay the fees.

If you want the phone badly and the seller does not want to use paypal for wherever reason. Wire transfer the money like he said. He did not just created an account he has been here a while and a very active user. Why are you forcing him to use paypal. He said he is not willing to, move on or do what he ask to transfer the money. He is not willing to to take the risk and get scam with paypal. You are not willing to wire transfer cause u are also scare to get scam. Let it go

Just got off the phone with PayPal. They said that not only will you have the $ in your account immediately but that they offer both buyer AND seller protection. I will happily pay the 2.9% fee of $25. I will even send the $ before you ship so you can have it in hand. There really is almost zero risk here and it protects both of us. I'm being pretty reasonable and generous.
