At any rate, Apple’s first leather cases were surprisingly durable lasting years still looking good. The one I bought for my iPhone 12 was awful and lasted a few months before ending up in the trash.

I'm sure that was when they changed the type of leather. The older stuff was so much better, the Product Red leather case for my XS Max lasted from launch until I got a 13 Pro Max.

I’m sure whatever it is it will be better than bootleg leather they have been using since the 12 series that doesn’t patina.

Thank you. I seriously regret getting the “leather” case. This is the least durable case I have ever seen. It is 90% for show and about 10% for grip. Protection simply was not considered. It pops right out at the corners at any drop. I already had one warranty replaced because it just cracked in half in parallel with the buttons. That one hadn’t even been abused. It still looked new. Its replacement is already frayed.

Nomad, BullStrap, etc all will offer good leather cases for those of us who enjoy cowhide leather and do not care about a corporation's useless obsession with a carbon footprint. A
As if a 3 trillion dollar company is somehow saving the environment by reducing 0.00000004% of its footprint by not using leather and using a science experiment to make a case.

Until you get everyone to turn vegan, there will always be leather... :rolleyes:
Are there any 3rd party Leather MagSafe cases that have just as good magnets as OEM? I hate the silicone cases as they peel and break apart for me. I tried some 3rd party leather cases in the past and the magnets are no good so my car mount doesn't work anymore.

I find it extremely unlikely they don't put a space between "Fine" and "Woven"
Yeah I'm not too sure on it either. Seems weird? But then again, the leather link bands looked sooo unlike Apple OEM when they leaked. Turns out those were real, too.

AirPods
MagSafe
AirTag
AirDrop

;)
I like to think these are different. The "Air" branding is a common theme, and MagSafe was just a marketing trick. I don't think "FineWoven" would be approved the same way by Apple's marketing team, though I couldn't say I know for sure. I remain skeptical but not entirely doubtful.

The interior quality of the lavender one, especially around the camera cutout looks really bad. I'm leaning toward thinking these aren't legitimate Apple cases?
Well, the article was getting at the idea that these cases are all clones and third party copies of the unreleased and unannounced cases, since no OEM prototypes are out there yet. In theory, the OEM version would be much better fit and finish

This will probably be microfiber leather. This is an animal-friendly (vegan) leather; we've been using it for furniture for a while now.

Fine = Micro
Woven = Fiber
I really like this theory. It's more marketable, anyway. Or so I think.

The myth that leather isn’t environmentally friendly is absurd. It lasts longer and takes less processing than a fabric any day of the week.
It's less about the environmentally friendly thing and more about the dead animals thing. They go hand in hand but aren't the same.

Either way, I hope to see this softgoods technology make its way to the bands. A (as robbert put it) microfiber design which is infinitely adjustable like the sport loops would be awesome. Maybe that's what the new band with the magnetic clasp is?

WOW SO THE LEAKER WAS INDEED CORRECT

When this article first came out, I thought the name FineWoven sounded comical, but now it's starting to grow on me.....

There are no Apple-branded leather cases for the iPhone 15.
And their finewoven plastic cases suck! I’m skipping the 15s and will purchase the iPhone 16 PM when it arrives, with a 3rd party leather case if necessary.
