I still can’t imagine why these are so desirable. I mean I get the nostalgia, but even at a tenth of that price it seems like an odd purchase to me. Just giving an opinion. I realize others will disagree.
I agree with you. That said, its all about rarity. A person willing to spend $100k on this is a person who wants a thing that almost nobody else has in this condition.

Let it be known the original iPhone was launched today. 16 years ago. It changed the world! 🥲

I hope the battery hasn't expanded in the phone, or its gonna be one expensive paperweight...

Honest question. How stable is the battery in an iPhone like that? Won't it eventually leak ruining everything?
I think you are on to something here. My iPhone X battery swelled and popped the screen of my phone. I got a new battery and everything was cool but I did it a few days after the swelling. I know they store these things at half full, but I'd bet there is a better than average chance that these old unboxed phones are pretty wrecked inside that box.

I have an iPhone first gen and trust me, its boring, but for 2007 was a revolution. The one I got with eBay, I played with it for about a week and I haven't touched it since.

I bought every iPhone two times. One to use and the other boxed unopened to sell them 50 years later. Can't wait to sell my iPhone 6S, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max for 200k.
