Ordered Apr. 19th, but still 'not yet shipped' (which is perfectly possible). I noticed something. I ordered the iPad2 together with the smartcover and a itunes card, and the order status shows a shipping method of 'Merge In Tnst NL Til'.
This means that the order is put together/merged in a depot 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) from my house. Does this mean that the status of the order only becomes 'Prepared for Shipment' when everything has already crossed the ocean?
And thus, when I gets PFS, I actually can go pick it up myself (after a call to Apple) at their depot? Otherwise I'ld have to wait another week for the shipping, as it'ld ship to the main depot of the shipping company (which is 150 kilometers further), and than shipped back to my place.. (what would take 4-5 workdays) ?

Spoke to UPS this morning. For those expecting their iPad to leave Louisville last night it hasn't cleared customs yet. Looking like atleast another day. Not a fan of UPS.

I'm a little bummed that my order from 4-11 which has hit the US is in limbo. UPS has a "expected delivery date" that has said, the 2nd, the 3rd, and as of right now, the 4th by 10:30 am. It has moved closer since last night as it has moved from Louisville to Ontario, CA. That info is from the Yahoo UPS tracker. I sure hope it comes today by 10:30 so I can go pick it up at my parents house in the morning vs picking it up in the afternoon with traffic.

Ordered mine April 13th, shipped the same date April 30th but mine via UPS. Looks like FedEx was a big difference.
That is unfortunate to hear. I ended up sending an email to Steve Jobs....don't expect it to do much. I don't even know where in the world my iPad is. The UPS website says that it has departed from China, while the small business yahoo site says that it is in transit to Louizville. So I am just going to stop caring.
Don't hold your breath if it's through UPS, expect 2-4 days later than what they say due to their ineptitude with customs.
I'm jealous! I also ordered April 21, but still in PFS (off and on for 3 days now). Originally scheduled ship date of May 5 which looks like they won't beat. congrats
Woo Hoo. Just got my shipping notice, will be here on the 9th. Only problem is the switcheasy case is still back ordered.
But advertising lead me to believe UPS has expertise in logistics. You're not suggesting
As soon as its PFS, the charge is placed.
And it clears once it's handed over to fedex/UPS.
I ordered mine on 23 April and found out today that it is 'prepared for shipment'. But who knows how long it will take to actually ship let alone pass customs from China to the US. When I ordered it, it had a ship date of 9 May with 11 May delivery. Perhaps it will go out sooner...?
Regardless, it definitely beats early morning store hunts...
