Does anyone know if the Apple delivery date or the FedEx delivery date is more accurate? Apple has it as today, and FedEx as tomorrow by 10:30. My iPad is currently at "Int'l shipment release" in Memphis since 12:30am this morning, heading to NC. So there's a chance it could arrive at my house today, right?

Yes.

I find the fedex tracking to be more accurate, as far as upgrading info goes.

Yes it is very likely to arrive since TN and NC are closely.

Speaking of scanned from my post above, my iPad just got the "departure scan" update. This is what you're looking for if you're iPad has been in China. Per UPS, once it has a departure scan it has been loaded on a plane and headed overseas. That being said, with expedited shipping I should have mine in the morning! I'll update tomorrow.

I don't know... I just got my second departure scan from China:

Chengdu, China 05/04/2011 1:30 A.M. Departure Scan
EPZ, China 05/02/2011 8:51 P.M. Departure Scan
05/02/2011 12:46 P.M. Origin Scan
China 05/02/2011 9:09 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

Yours is on the same flight as mine, expect it possibly tomorrow!

Mine's on the same flight as well but I'm less optimistic... After looking back at the past 20 pages of posts it seems all departures from Chengdu make a stop at Hong Kong then Anchorage, AK before going to a hub (usually Louisville,KY). I'm seeing packages typically sit in Hong Kong for a day or 2 :(

Hopefully I'm wrong here but I'm stifling my expectations at this point.

Chengdu, China 05/04/2011 1:41 A.M. The airline off-loaded packages.
EPZ, China 05/03/2011 5:03 P.M. Departure Scan
Chengdu, China 05/03/2011 2:50 A.M. Origin Scan
China 05/03/2011 12:05 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

Saying I should have it by Monday... Why does everyone else's have two departure scans and mine says 'The airline off-loaded packages.'

UPS just said that flight should be landing in Louisville, KY tonight and clearing customs overnight and could possibly be delivered tomorrow.

I'm hoping for similar but my origin scan is behind yours by about four hours (although my "ready for UPS" line was 40 minutes *ahead* and I don't have a departure scan.)

I have no idea how many iPads you can get on a pallet (easy answer: A lot!), but I'm hoping they're just not able to hit everything that ships with the scan gun before it moves. Everything I'm seeing here and on Apple's forums is that there are a lot of iPads trying to get across the Pacific.

When does apple usually charge you? mine is shipped and they still havent charged me.

Mine is technically shipped (still visiting the Great Wall, though, apparently) and I have a charge pending, but not finalized.

A pallet, hmmmmm I say 150-200 depending on size, and then a shipment would number in dozens of pallets, maybe?

Any body work in factory/shipping environment.

Arrived!

iPad 2 16GB Black Engraved has arrived.

hello all, new member here.

my wife ordered me an ipad2 for my birthday, and i can't wait until it arrives.

i keep checking the shipping status and it had said "hasn't shipped yet", but the estimated ship date was may 5th, and estimated arrival was the 11th.

today it changed to "prepared for shipment", but the estimated arrival date is now pushed back to the 17th.

anybody have any input as to what is going on? i'm really confused...i figured if it was prepared early, it would ship early, and arrive earlier than the estimated delivery date...

FedEx just called and informed me my package accidentally got attached to another and was delivered to someone in California. (I am in Ohio) Original delivery date was last Friday.

They are sending a courier to try and retrieve it. Hope whoever has it is enjoying it as much as I would be lol.

I've been reading the news, since my iPad has had no shipping update for more than 24-hours :(

Ordered: 4/15
Type: 32gb Black Wifi-only
2-3 Day 'Faster' shipping was added to the order

Shipped: 5/02/2011 via UPS
Scheduled Delivery: 5/05/2011 by 10:30am (Washington, DC)

UPS: Tracking as of 5/03/2011 19:09 EDT (5/04/2011 07:09 Chengdu Time)
-----
Chengdu, China 05/02/2011 8:13 A.M. Origin Scan
China 05/02/2011 4:04 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS
-----

So, ~48-hours later, and it hasn't moved at all... Hopefully it just missed some scans, and I will see it next on a truck for delivery... Otherwise, i dont think it will be here, and I will be requesting the expedited shipping fee back from apple.

Have the same, except no "In transit" status -- just Departure scan at 1:30AM.

My estimated ship date and arrival date got pushed back from 5/2 and 5/6 respectively to 5/4 and 5/13, IIRC, right before going to "Prepared for Shipment." When it was transferred to UPS for shipment, the dates were adjusted again.

I have almost the exact scan times (8:11 and 4:04 respectively). I've also seen no further information. Same model, too.

I *do* however see three UPS 747-400s currently en route from Anchorage to Louisville, KY. I'm hopeful my iPad's somewhere in the stack, unscannable, although delivery is scheduled for Thursday.

Here are the flights:

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS63 (Hong Kong origin)
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS65 (Hong Kong origin)
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS81 (Shanghai origin)

FWIW, I did *not* pay for expedited shipping and my delivery is due at the same time as yours.

To the guy who asked: they charge you once the item prepares for shipment.

And it really sinks in(the charge) once it leaves the warehouse/is handed over to UPS/FeDeX.
