i was about to point out the same Anim8tor - At no point has OP asked for a logo design.

I've never met anyone who's said graphic design is not a real job, though every graphic designer seems to always be moaning about how they have to justify their job. It's self fulfilling - if you keep thinking people have something against you'll not have much trouble in convincing yourself they actually do. There is far to much "us vs the world" in this thread.

And this is your idea of being helpful?

How about this?

Pull up my previous posts - I am more than happy to help people. You think that DVD insert template I posted here a couple of weeks back was something I just magically had sitting on my HDD, or maybe I drew it specifically because the OP didn't seem to be getting the idea?

You might want to come down off your own high horse before you start throwing insults at others.

Cheers

Jim

Ironically, I owe everything I have to forums and getting experience over the past 5 years or so. I made several graphics for free, maybe not for this forum, but for other ones in the past. I don't have time for it now, but if I did, I sure would practice honing in my design skills, rather then my cynical skills. And as a matter of fact, I could safely say I've gained about 1/2 dozen clients from this forum (and one contact request today from this thread). So, maybe that 15 minutes that took you type all your posts, could have been better used. But hey, what do I know about business and graphic design :p

Thanks Swiftlives, although backhanded compliment, I'll take it!! :)

Man I simply cant believe what people are arguing about. This is bar none the most stuck up self admiring full of **** argument I have EVER seen in my entire life. All he wanted was a suggestion for a font since he obviously doesnt know the names of the 100,000 fonts out there, how people are somehow distorting that into making the entire logo for him and is beyond me. Or making excuses like how hard it is to find the perfect tracking or some other lame detail, WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH HIS QUESTION? I just dont get it. Its called advice, not work. Telling someone off because they wanted somebody to make a website for them is one thing, telling someone off because they wanted advice for a color, a style, or say.... a font is completely ridiculous. Fonts are scattered all over and there so many of them that word of mouth is greatest resource we have when finding new and interesting fonts that arent part of a mainstream type foundry. Seriously, this is just sad, hopefully one day youll look back and realize how dumb this all was to get upset over.

I'm a designer through forums... Originally graphics, then website design (not developing, big difference) and finally onto Motion graphics where i think I'll stay.

I have to say this all seems very pedantic and childish as at the end of the day, it gets dark still.

Everyone could have just listed a font or a font collection and have been done with it instead of wasting their time being petty.

Currently my font of the moment is Myriad Pro Light, it costs for the pack so it's probably inappropriate for you at the moment (unless you can find a copy somewhere on the web). Otherwise I like Helvetica Nueve... Might I suggest a light grey or similar as it looks quite clean.

Oh and if you do need help or advice in future just PM me and I'll try to help out.

Hello all,

I am currently designing a logo for a night club promoter and am stuck on what typeface to use.

The name of the company is 'loki' as in the greek god of mischief.

Can anyone recommend a typeface that may suit such a name for such a company.

Nothing 'cartoony' please

Maybe I'm completely misinterpreting your original post, but I think that's the point you asked us to design a logo for you.

Unfortunately, I am at a loss as to why you need a typeface if you already have a logo. I interpreted your post to mean that you were looking for a typeface to use as part of the logo.

You're lucky to have a good professor to nudge you in the right direction. There are also many resources out there on the web to provide inspiration to you. In a very feeble attempt to calm things down around here, I'll suggest the following:

Logopond
I Love Typography
Typophile
Brand New

My apologies for not thinking of these earlier. Probably would have saved us at least a page of snark.

Good luck. I know you're frustrated, but please try to keep your posts a bit more civil. Be grateful that I've been called much worse than "ignorant." :D

ChicoWeb - The compliment wasn't backhanded. The web is not my strong suit, as I am pretty much a print designer. I know basic HTML and tables, but I have not yet wrapped my brain around CSS. That being said, I appreciate good design when I see it. I like your site and a lot of the work you've done in your portfolio.

Thank you for your input.

To be honest i am not really frustrated with anyone here as i can see everyone's point, i am a bit peeved at such reactions like i am trying to purposely offend or 'steal' something from someone.

Like you point out, a certain level of calmness is needed, and the mud throwing was simply someone else defending somebody else's throw away comments.

What is refreshing to read is that of those who after looking at the facts are genuine enough to rethink their words and have the courage to change their opinion, even only in the slightest.

Thank you for your support.

I will definitely contact you if (when :D) i need some advice again.

I think we're about done here...thanks for playing.

Considering that a mod already posted in here reminding people to be civil, there are a number of people who should consider themselves lucky they haven't been put in time-out.

Seriously, folks...there's absolutely no need for rudeness.
