Is this the Richard S. from the thread on the Dropbox forum?

In either case welcome to Macrumors! I would be the Erik Y. in that Dropbox thread.

Glad to see Czo was able to help and hope it keeps working for all of us.
Yes, Erik, I am the same person. Your posts at Dropbox Forum led me here to this MacRumors thread a few months ago. I had been using Czo's patched version for awhile. The man deserves accolades and respect. Too bad Dropbox declined his offer to support PPC Macs.

Dropbox just decided to do away with their Carousel photo module, which is rather interesting because it was one of the new "advances" that they had felt was necessary in order to "move forward." Why can't they realize that 90% of Dropbox users want basic file syncing WITHOUT bells and spangles? A nagging issue that Dropbox will not remedy is the lame way they list files with an unintuitive (hidden to many) column that toggles various attributes – but no file counts or folder sizes.

Oh, cool! Glad to see you here!

Yes, my feeling remains that Dropbox has turned completely corporate. Any moves they make now are motivated more by money than by the customer. Dropping Carousel and Mailbox are just two indicators of that. I actually used Carousel on my iPhone.

Fortunately, as long as we have people like Czo and Dropbox does not change the APIs too much we can stay connected.

SHHH! Don't give them any ideas. Also, remember, a lot of people use free storage. They've never used ads or any other way to get money from free users. Heck, I have 10GB just from referrals. Yes, I am mad that they dropped support for us, but I think at one point, Dropbox just started hemorrhaging money and they just had to make do.

I can report that things continue to work just fine too.

I did have an initial hiccup and got the "You must upgrade" messages, but after a restart, it worked. Awesome stuff.

Hey Nathan, kudos to you too!

You got the ball rolling in this thread when you found out the OS version number could be faked.

I just became aware of Czo's latest feat, and downloaded it, and now I have Dropbox up and running smoothly again here in my G5 beast.

A word of caution: if you do not already have a Dropbox folder in your PPC computer and are installing from scratch, it will ask you to relink and send you into an endless loop. I had deleted mine from my G5 in an access of rage (not at you, oh magnanimous Czo, you who are 500 shades of awesome :), but at Dropbox the company). Copying your Dropbox folder from another computer and then launching the app solved the issue for me.

Thanks, Czo! Long live PPC!

Many thanks to Czo for his fix, works great and DB back up and running on my PB G4 17" 1.67gzh !

That is true --I'm another happy longtime Dropbox customer who has never paid a penny and has accumulated over 20 gigs of free storage. But, like I said before, that would justify dropping support for PPC, not dedicating resources to actively going after PPC users, you know what I mean?
[doublepost=1451967501,1450804960][/doublepost]Still working! :)

Hey guys, I installed the fix in December, 2015. Everything worked just fine!
But now (January 13, 2016), unfortunately, my ppc is not syncing anymore. It's just me ?

Many thanks for you guys in advance!

After reading your post I was able to create a new (test) directory on my G5 and verify it is 'in the cloud' via the web.

If you are having to actually login or create a new account and then designate a new Dropbox folder you may have issues. But if you are simply installing the app (in Post 168) over an old one and all your files are in exactly the same place you should have no issues.

If you have the first version of Czo's fix from anything earlier than post #168/118) then it's not going to work.

Hi guys, this thread, and Czo's work, have been so helpful, what a life saver. I have one possibly silly question that I thought maybe someone around here could illuminate: I installed czo's dropbox on my mac. got the old app out of the way. launched czo's version, logged in..

then it says something like "would you like to create a folder like so (/user/dropbox) now?"

which got me worried, because probably like everyone else, at that location I have already a directory named dropbox , full of all my dropbox files which have been imprisoned since dropbox stopped supporting leopard...

so the question is, did you guys just say yes at this prompt , and if so did it go ok? I'm nervous it will try to overwrite my current dropbox folder.

I'm sorry if this was somewhere else in the thread that I missed.

thanks a bunch in advance

Use the preferences in the Dropbox app to relink your folder.

Failing that, logout, then log back in and let Dropbox merge your folder.

Mine is working flawlessly so far (knock on wood). Is Dropbox working in your other computers?

I'm happy to report that, after all this time, the fix is still holding. I'm assuming that's why we don't see many entries in this thread... :)

Does anyone realize that this thread is a year old?

I just realized that myself.

@Czo and @NathanJHill have bought all of us at least one more year of Dropbox service.

Thanks to both of you!
