That was a good mockup apart from the latches are going to be magnetic.

Red iPod? Ok, this might be nice, but I don't like red hi-tech stuff

But red Macbook?!?! Oh come on! You've seen how u-g-l-y those red notebooks look!!!

Does anyone else think Bono will show up at the press event if the Red iPod is introduced? It's his charity afterall...

Red iPod may be coming this Tuesday.

This is based on this day being an otherwise big one for the Product Red charity which the red iPod is supposed to be a part of.

This whole 'Red' thing is a complete con, from the world's biggest self-publicist Bono. I hate this guy. You have to spend £5000 on your selfish self on your Red Amex, buying Red t-shirts from Gap, Emporio Armani and the like, and even that amount will yield only 1% or £50 to the good cause. Why not just donate the money directly, and not line the pockets of these global brands who could care less about someone dying in poverty?

Before anyone retorts 'at least he's doing something' that is crap, and this is clearly driven by profit for the brands involved. If anyone involved in this self-serving money grab really cared about the suffering of AIDS victims, they would put pressure on the drug companies who make the therapies, to deliver them to those in need AT COST.

At least Bill Gates (yes the one you all hate) gave $50 million of his own cash to AIDS charities in Africa. And no, I don't think he did it to sell more copies of Windows.

Feel free to slate me....

If the world`s wealthiest person doesnt give away money to charity then who else would? Bill Gates might be the most hated man on these forums but personally I second your thoughts. He`s donated so much in Africa and Asia. Not only for AIDS but other things too. But then it`s not something he`s not supposed to be doing. I mean he has more money than any one else in the world. He has to do atleast this bit.

It's not that I'm against a RED iPod- the cause is certainly worthy enough. Too many people are dying of AIDS and not enough is being done- But is it for Apple to get involved with??

Millions are affected and die each year from cancer- where's their iPod?

And that you see is the problem.

The iPod is a music player. It plays music (and video in some cases). It shouldn't be playing politics.

Regardless of how worthy the cause it should be the National Governments who help fund these causes from their budgets or who legislate against the major pharmaceuticals who withold the drugs on basis of profitability.

Worldwide sales of prescription drugs today stand at $600 Billion.

The biggest selling prescription drug is Pfizer's Lipitor ( Treats high cholesterol) with annual sales of $12.9 Billion. The other 7 best selling drugs have sales in excess of $5 Billion each.

I live in a capitalist society and believe in free market forces but the amount charged for these drugs is obscene.

We all pay dearly for the pharmaceutical companies greed.

Not by me, I bike everywhere I go and haven't taken medication since... *thinking* Christmas 2001. Thank you to my Scottish/Polish background for making me the cheapest person ever.:p

I think the macbook should come in white and black. I don't like multi color computers.. This is a business laptop or personal laptop, not a gaming machine ;)

I honestly want a white one. I have a imac and it's white, I would like to stay with the white style. My 20gig ipod is white, my ipod shuffles are white and I want a white macbook when it comes out ;) AND I HOPE IT's COMING SOON!

Oh yea, that mockup looks nice ;) Wish it was on apple.com right now.

Take you partner, here we go again....

Red iPod = somewhat of a good idea.
MacBook = so amazingly over-hyped on here no matter what Jobs reveals it will disappoint.

Personally I'd like to see a refresh of the iPod line and some leather cases for the MacBook Pro. Oh, and an iPod HiFi Express to take on Altec's smaller inMotions. That would be so sweet to see the fall out on here from an event like that.
i dont think so. the macbook without the pro, will be the next gen ibook, with intel, it may not dissapoint, but let wait and see

A little off topic, but how do I get my scroll bar and action buttons to be as "vibrant" as the mock up? Hopefully without a theme changer

That's what happens in Photoshop when you save it as a *.png, Photoshop tends to make everything 'vibrant' but when you save it it looks more washed out.

...or atleast for me.

So when you scroll through this thread and pass the mockup image that you posted your browser buttons & bars look the same as mine (faded in comparison)?

Yes, mine looks the same as yours, faded, while the mockup is not.

But I could be wrong about what I said.

no, but you'll get more tickets...

see, that was funny! just had to reply because people on this sight seem to think posting fake invites passes for humor.

I don't understand colors.... black and white maybe.. I mean, honestly who doesn't by a case? and cases come in every shape and color you could imagine. What kind of case isn't gonna look completely ridiculous on a red ipod?

Nice mockup, but unfortunately it's not going to be $999. It'll be $1099 at the cheapest--and that will be for a core solo, not a duo.
AppleInsider has said core duo across the entire MacBook line. So let's see, should I believe AI, who has been right with all rumors this year, or your uninformed speculation? That's a tough one ... :p

I think a bright red iBook/MacBook would be the perfect accompaniment to a bright yellow Nextel phone.

Maybe they can design it so it makes that "Boo-boop!" noise whenever it puts up a selector followed by the selector's contents being read out aloud with a large amount of background static. The volume could be automatically adjusting so the user can still hear it, even in a loud area like a restaurant.

The red Macbook could also speak each key pressed through the loudspeakers, y'know, just to help the owner know which key they pressed.

I agree. I remember when U2 was good-early 9-'s I think.
Have yet to see anyone with a black/red iPod.
Maybe if Bono would match the donation for every one sold...

I wouldn't buy a red macbook, or ipod, but the important thing is that they just release the darn things already. They've already missed most of edu buying season... what are they waiting for?
