It's fine for Samsung et al to ship phones with poor folding screens, because we're all used to them shipping substandard products.

If Apple does it, though, they are going to get skewered by the media and the public.

In other words, there's no way Apple can afford to ship one of these badboys until the folding screen tech is good enough.

One major problem though that I forsee, the cover screen, with the Good Lock app one can put any apps they want on the Z Flip cover screen, unless Apple radically changes their philosophy, the Iphone flip cover screen will probably only consist of native apps, for anyone who wants to use a smaller cover screen to reduce their overall smartphone usage, this will be a major flaw.

They will sell a TON of 2 page foldable iPads to musicians, and I'll be first in line. I currently use 2 original ipad pros for 2 page display. For those concerned about wear from folding cycles, that is a very low cycle use case compared to a phone.

I would definitely buy a foldable iPhone. It’s pretty cool to use a cover screen to text, call, etc. You then unfold to get a much bigger screen for movies and games without having to bring a separate iPad. Then again, by then maybe the Vision Pro will develop to be the better solution but that’s years off.
