Since Apple ruined my 2020 iPad Pro when they announced iPadOS 16, as well as my storage getting full, I’m planning on upgrading to the M2 iPad Pro when it comes out. What is the resale value of a 2020 12.9” Wifi-only 512GB Space Grey iPad Pro in Canada? I plan to sell it on Kijiji, Facebook or EBay and want to get as much money out of it as I can since I’m going all the way to the 2TB Cellular M2 12.9” iPad Pro, which is going to cost thousands of dollars. And should I sell my Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil as well and get new ones, or can I keep my AppleCare coverage for the accessories when I upgrade my iPad?

For me, it feels it they ruined it by adding exclusive features that my iPad won’t get, so now I’m selling this piece of ****. I wish I never bought it
I'm not getting it on my iPA. I wish I was, sure, but it's not the end of the world. It's just as capable now as when I bought it, and it's still getting lots of updates with 16. Your pro isn't a piece of **** because it's not getting a couple new features that newer devices are. They certainly didn't "ruin" it. You were happy with it before they announced the new features, right? Congrats, nothing has changed, they didn't downgrade your device, you're still getting a solid update with 16. If you want to update to a newer device for the new features I get it, but your current one isn't "ruined", that's just silly

So if you buy an M2 iPad - and Apple bring out exclusive features for an M3 iPad - what will you do then?
I feel like this is maybe a troll post anyway, OP's so unhappy with Apple and has so much buyers remorse, over features that aren't even *out* yet that arent coming to his device, that he wants to spend even more money on the next gen version that hasn't been announced yet and that they probably won't get until their device is already like 3 years old anyway (let's say the new iPP launches in oct or so, it'll be Jan 2023 before most people get their hands on one given shortages)? This doesnt have the ring of plausibility to it honestly.

It will never get true multitasking or real external monitor support, since you need an M1 chip or newer. The M1 exclusive features, are one of the last things that could’ve made this a true laptop replacement. Now I know my iPad will never be a decent computer. I hope I can at least get $1000 or more from selling it

That’s why I’m getting up early in the morning to preorder it as soon as preorders go live

That was over two years ago. I bought it in the hopes that it would eventually get a good software update that would unleash its true potential. That was a mistake. $2000 I will never get back. And I know that Apple never refunds customers unless they return their devices. My return period expired over two years ago

If you were buying a multi-thousand dollar device in the hopes that *years later* it would make you happy instead of it fitting your current needs you made the wrong decision and that's not Apple's fault. Sounds like maybe you need to re-evaluate your purchasing decisions, not complain about Apple "ruining" your perfectly functional kit by not giving it the upgrades you wanted years later

Your fault. I understand the frustrations of when something new comes out and yours isn’t the the latest or have certain features, but purchasing decisions should be made on if the tool does the job now, not will it maybe have this feature one day. I’d recommend going forward only buying a product based on what it can do when you buy it and two seeing them as tools. That way, it doesn’t matter if something new comes out. If it does what you want it to when you purchase it then you won’t get buyers remorse. For reference for price I recently sold my M1 256 iPad 12.9 with pencil and Magic Keyboard for £900 because I wasn’t using it much anymore after completing s project with it. So I doubt you will get what you’re hoping for. I’m not from your country, but that does sound too high!

just purchased an ipad pro 2020 and wow that thing is amazing . ask yourself,do you find m1 features truly useful ? stage manager is apparently quite frustrating

in any case as good as it may be i'd never use it as a true laptop replacement.it's only a complimentary device which i believe is what apple wants me to think hahaha

To be fair, Apple definitely DID ruin the resale price of the 2020.
Eh, maybe. The majority of consumers probably arent going to care tbh.

And either way OP said they ruined their iPad, not their iPad’s resale value

I simply believe that your initial assessment was spot on.

Agreed. I made an expensive mistake, but then again, my previous iPad, the 5th gen budget, was so bad it was almost unusable. If I could go back in time and tell myself to wait for the M1, the 13 additional months of torture would probably have been worth it, assuming I was able to keep my last iPad’s storage from filling up

I don’t see a mistake except of course for the ridiculous claims that Apple made your current device somehow a bad thing after you had years of value from it.

Now you’re just enticed to buy something new, as is the way of tech.

Personally I recommend Kijiji as I’ve had plenty great experiences there.
