I've been using interfacelift for years now!
They are The Best wallpaper site on the net PERIOD!
Well, I think it's an HDR photo. I found it on some website and prepared for retina size.
I found a lot of great pictures on Flickr with 4288x2847 resolution. If someone could make these into retina wallpapers it would be much appreciated!

Hard to enlarge so much while preserving detail without adding a lot of noise, but here's my go. Had to crop the bottom off to maintain 2048x2048

Did the ones I thought were particularly interesting. Now this might get me knocked down a bit, but since they did have watermarks/logos on them, I did my best to add them back in when the cropping took them out. I did try to keep them out of the way in the corners, but I think it's fair to have credit where credit is due.

I compiled an online album with the best "retina" wallpapers (2048x2048) I've been able to find/create so far. I Plan on updating it regularly with new ones I find (including the ones in this thread

Haha, good! I mostly made it because my roommate and I cover our door in Sherlock, Supernatural, and Doctor Who references and fanart stuff. There's also a Tennant version somewhere on my laptop. We have the coolest door in the place by far.
I know it's nice to give credit where credit is due but, speaking for myself, I'm not going use a picture with a watermark. I wonder if the photographer would rather have 10 people using their non-watermarked wallpaper or 1 person using a watermarked wallpaper.
That's true, but most of the artists I know get kind of upset when their work is taken without credit. If I put a watermark on something, I'd rather it not get edited out. For me in the case of the ones I made myself, I don't care too much, since it's just fanart and a little thing. But if I did a nice big photo or painting (like those ones from flickr), I'd rather my work be acknowledged, even if it is by that one person who doesn't mind my mark on it. /shrug
In any case, if someone feels like redoing the photos, that's their business. I like the wheat one pretty well and will probably use it regardless.
ESO Photo Wallpapers
My first stop for high resolution wallpapers has for quite some time been eso.org. There are some incredible photos there at insanely high resolution, most of which come from the Very Large Telescope in Paranal. These are all from there, resized and a couple slightly color-tweaked for wallpaper use. Enjoy! (and definitely check out the site if you have a chance)

edit: I just realized I resized these to 2058x2058 instead of 2048. This has now been corrected in both the zip and attached images.

That... sounds quite a bit like my apartment, actually. My roommate and I have fannish things everywhere. Who needs fine art when you can have a Stargate poster over the fireplace, right?
If you feel like making any Sherlock wallpapers I would download them faster than Watson shoots cabbies. Just sayin'.

I...haven't watched Stargate DON'T KILL ME I WATCH TREK AND DW AND SPN AND SHERLOCK OKAY I AM A PROPER NERD I PROMISE. Though that's a bit off topic WHOOPS.
I may or may not be working on transferring my Sherlock "BORED." with the wallpaper and the shot out smiley face into a nice wallpaper. But you didn't hear that from me, alright? Don't even watch this space. >.>
Not sure if im missing something but isnt the new iPad's screen 2048x1536 and not 2048x2048?
The iPad handles wallpaper a bit differently than the iPhone. When you change the orientation of your iPad, it rotates the wallpaper as well. This means that some bits get cropped off depending on whether it's landscape or portrait view.
We make them 2048x2048 so that no matter the orientation, you'll have a fullscreen image as a background.

Ahhhh makes perfect sense, it will be my first iPad so I wasnt aware of this. Good to know as I tend to make quite a few wallpapers myself. Thanks for the info
