I really hope so. For the Procreate drawing app I'm seeing the same performance gains on a 2TB version of it as the baseline model as of right now ?Absolutely!!!! WWDC is going to be huge for the M1 iPads.

Aren't most Apple products? Just traded my 2020 iPad 11 for M1 version just to have the M1. Did the same with my MB Pro. Yesterday I picked up an M1 iMac but I was replacing my 2012 model. Still worked fine but it wasn't being supported past Mac OS Catalina. To me it's all discretionary spending; nothing to try and rationalize. So I sold my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 to get the new 12.9 M1 and was exited but to be honest here is why im returning it, the power is not noticeable the 2018 acts the exact same and I know wwdc is coming and we might see pro apps but right now my view is the M1 isn't needed and is over kill and for screen which I was excited about just isn't a wow factor, it is nice and blacks are darker but apart from HDR video it looks the same and the screen feels deeper than the glass which makes it look odd. its not night and day as apple like to say. And the last reason is I just like knowing I have an iPad but honestly its just a big iPhone I get some people use it like a computer but I always had an iPad just for the sake of it and I dont use it much, I love apple but I just dont see the iPad as worth it for me, maybe after wwdc with ipados15 ill change my mind and buy it again, but its more of a I want product than I need one

That’s interesting. So let me share with you my experience from this last Friday.Well, you are basically asking for macOS on your iPad once you add something like windowing. Maybe they will do it, but as we can clearly see from the Epic trial, Apple is intentional about a lot of things. Phil Schiller even said it in an interview many years ago, sure, if one of their devices makes you happy, no problem, but they would like you to buy all of them (paraphrasing). Thats why features are limited across devices.
Sure, you can run iPad apps on your Mac now, but can you touch them? Nope, and its not like its a technical limitation either. Yes, they have thrown out the solid case about touching your Macs screen is not great ergonomics, but Windows laptops include touch. The point remains, iOS/iPad OS really is a single UI focused operating system. If you were born this morning, remember, its based on iOS, which originally designed for the iPhone. They have tacked on a lot over the years, but I personally believe there is no real benefit being macOS.
Of course, over the years, users have been pushing the limits of the device because again, they like some of benefits of the form factor. I think many, you included, are more in the category of want than a need for desktop level multi-tasking. Even when I am on my Mac, I am mostly single app focused. As much as there is the illusion that's how our brain thinks, no, we are still a single focused. Just this morning, I checked on the status of a product I needed replaced. I had to find the RMA number to provide to the service rep, which required switching to a browser tab, I also had to take down the agents ID number for follow up, which was entered into the Reminders.
All of this was being done sequentially, not at the same time. This idea of multi-tasking, a lot of it came from the Windows world, where you have multiple windows running lines of code, graphs, movie and audio playing in the background. Thats mostly a proof of concept to fool you into thinking you really need that. When you think about the fact that millions of users get by on a cramped 5.8 to 6.7 inch phone screen, some even on a 4.7, yet, no one is complaining they need windowing on a smartphone screen; even though its the primary device a lot of us use.
Thanks for sharing! It was quite interesting real use case. I am the same way as you. That sort of multitasking is natural for me too. I don't own S21U though so I cannot do this multitasking on my phone unfortunately. That being said this is how my work calls usually go.That’s interesting. So let me share with you my experience from this last Friday.
As I stepped out of my place, I received a call on Signal which was work related. I needed to jot down some notes, so as I was in the convo, I opened up the Notes app and took down the notes. At one point my interlocutor and I were discussing a specific matter, I opened up the browser while talking and looked up a few things which fed into the convo. Then I remembered that I had saved an article on Pocket related to the discussion. So I opened up Pocket in a split screen with the browser and scrolled down till I found the article, which also contributed to the discussion. At this point, note that I have the following apps open and active…Signal (for the call),the Notes app (I was using the S Pen), the browser and Pocket in split screen mode. Meanwhile as the convo continued, I noticed I had received a few emails, which I checked thru the notifications. This went on for about 15 mins.
This was all on my S21U.
oh….did I mention, I was standing on the street under a tree as all of this was happening? Did I also mention that I do this quite frequently?
While the device is not the core issue here, the question of multi tasking is.
Very relatable. That’s why I was a bit taken aback with the post that I replied to. Sometimes, in my case, I find myself in situations like what you described (though, in a car, not a tram). I have also multi tasked using the iPad and the S21U. When I find myself in that situation, i do the note taking on OneNote like you on the iPad. Interestingly, the Samsung Notes app also backs up into OneNote so that helps too. Thanks for sharing! It was quite interesting real use case. I am the same way as you. I use my laptop for the most part but basically I have at least two open windows:
1. One is for the video feed for the call itself. Non verbal communication is a key aspect too and I prefer to watch the reactions of people when I talk to them
2. One is for taking my notes in OneNote and referencing notes from previous calls/meetings
3. Quite often I would also have to check/research something while on the call
I had to have 45 minutes (!) business call on my iPhone while I was travelling in the tram once. It was an important call, an important customer had an issue that customer facing teams had no idea how to solve quickly. Luckily I know the product rather well and could come up with an idea without the need for access to the code. However if I had needed an access, I would have been doomed because this is iPhone 8 - not a lot of capabilities offered for things like that. It works for calls, but is just for chatting. You cannot use it properly to check your sources during the call, to share PPT or watch a PPT shared by others.
Yes, indeed I have done sometimes this too - writing meeting minutes in OneNote on my iPad. I did not know that Samsung Notes backs up to OneNote. This is definitely useful!Very relatable. So, you believe that Apple should be stagnant... to approach iPadOS with no sense of improving it? No shade to you at all, but that makes no sense.
Over time... Apple has tried to solve multitasking, then adding mouse support while bring along the Magic Keyboard. Adding M1 to the mix brings another level of complexity for which I welcome, I understand you value the consumption aspect of the iPad. But I'll prefer to do more with mine and I hope Apple addresses iPad-power users.
