Man you jumped the boat quick, you should had waited for the 6s to come out to compare and you should had gotten the developer version of you plan to root your note.
I'm a fan of both iOS and Android and bounce between them frequently so I don't really consider it jumping the boat. I was already on the fence about getting the Note 5 before the test drive so it just solidified my choice. Both the iPhone 6 Plus and Note 5 are amazing devices. I just like the extra screen size, better camera, and smaller profile.

who's texting pics these days, u can Gmail a pic in about 5 seconds..

I text pics all of the time. iMessage integrates it so well that using another app or using email (to me) is worthless. Depending on the person and their device they may not check their email. I only fetch email about 2 times a day. But I get texts quite often.

granted, I wouldn't email my gran, but ant time I quickly wanted to send a full res pic if anything to someone I know has a modern device, Gmail is my go to app, plus the email received pops up in the status bar so I miss nothing..

After using the phone for about a week... I can say the battery life on the Note 5 is slightly better than the iPhone 6 Plus in my usage, mainly using the Note 5 as a camera, playing Clash of Clans, watching a few YouTube videos, Instagram, Snapchat, and quick web search. It last me from unplugging the phone around 9pm at night and plug it in around 7 or 8pm the next day.

If I was to do the similar task on the iPhone 6 Plus, I would probably have to plug it in around 5 or 6pm. I normally plug the phone in when there's around 25% battery life.

Overall, the experience with the Note 5 so far is good. Just hating on the bloatware that AT&T puts on the phone, though it can be hidden/disabled via Debloater software (on xda) so it won't show up and improve performance slightly... If there's an option to root and 'freeze' the apps, it would probably be a lot better.

Anyone tried Samsung Pay? I signed up for beta and was approved but haven't had a chance to use it yet lol

I HATE AT&T's bloatware-- and recently they've been lagging on pushing out updates. I'm still waiting for the 5.1 update for my S6 Edge (along with Samsung Pay). I can only imagine how long it would take to get Android M pushed out.

I've heard (mostly) overwhelmingly positive reviews for Samsung Pay off the users on Reddit. Some hiccups I've read include a Target store requiring the last 4 digits of your card, but since it's a tokenized transaction, it's looking for the virtual number. Also some users are having trouble with magnetic interference (metal plates, Google cardboard). Lastly, Samsung Pay transactions don't show up in the app just yet.

I actually wanted to trial the s6 instead of the s6 edge. Unfortunately the edge was the only one available.

I handled a note last week. For the same reason I switched from the iPhone 6 plus, the note 5, while narrower than the iphone 6 plus, was still uncomfortable to me as one handed ability is still very important. Even though the note 5 has that one handed mode, it still wasn't really helpful in terms of one handed ness. I ended up selling the note 5 as it was a bit too unwieldy.

Don't get how people think the iphone 6 or 6+ is easier to use one handed? You have to reach up to hit the back or top icons unless you use the double tap reachability which slows you down and is just annoying. The aluminum rounded backing on the iphones are also the most slippery I have owned. I never buy cases but had to with the iphone. The glass backing and form of the S6 is a little slippery but my fingers stick better to the glass. Probably because glass is more porous.

I actually use reachability a lot personally.

Yeah because you have to if you want to use an iphone one handed. It's good because it makes the iphone useable with it's flawed user interface. It would be so simple to put the back arrow at the bottom of apps even and let users leave icon spaces at the top of the screen. Maybe put a nice big clock in that space instead as well maybe a weather widget I know I know way too out of the box thinking for the boys at Apple.

Having to use reachability is ineffecient. End of story.

I personally don't care about apple pay, samsung pay, google pay etc. People should be carrying there wallets and most debit and credit cards now have NFC. I find it faster to just tap my CC and go and not worry if my finger print scanned properly.

until the iPhone has a super amoled screen, then let's see how that opinion changes...

Nah, iphone users prefer inferior black and contrast levels because otherwise it's not an iphone. ;)

The retina screen was amazing when the iphone 4 came out and its still good now but not in the same league as samsungs amoled screens.

Yeah Amoled screens drain too much battery, I actually prefer to have a 1080 screen with great battery life.

It's no more inefficient as having an app drawer icon on the right of your phones dock or back button on the bottom right if your left handed. All bigger screened devices have trade offs if you want to use them single handed.

I think the original poster was talking about sending an MMS. what'sapp and imessages are pure data transfers.

Yes I was. I think the device is just a bad unit. I haven't been able to get around that issue at all with any app. Tried to contact Samsung and haven't heard back. I guess I'll just wait for the next iPhone. :)

The original poster was but I quoted somebody else who questioned texting pics at all. He insinuated email was more efficient and common in his experience. I just gave my view on what people use in my tiny corner of the world. :)

Unless somebody does not have an iPhone with iMessage or a device with Whatsapp, I never text a picture. Email or Facebook messenger is useful then. I don't know why Samsung's native text message app has such a problem with pictures messages though? It's been a complaint for a couple of years now and not exclusive the the Note 5. It should be sorted now. I do remember people were getting large bills when pictures were being charged as MMS when users thought they were free on wifi. That affected all Samsung phones and appeared on the UK's 'Watchdog' program last year.

Well I have had my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ for about 5 days now. I sold my iPhone 5s early, and also use the iPhone 6 Plus fairly often. For the test drive, I transferred all my data and my sim card to the Edge, and carried this as my sole phone.

First impressions were excellent. The phone looks sharp and the screen is (to me) far superior to the iPhone. The phone also feels far better to hold than the iPhone 6 Plus. I thought the Edge was smaller, but when comparing them they are almost exactly the same size. Despite this, the Edge just seems much easier to use one handed.

Transferring all my data worked decently well, but required me to plug my iPhone into my iMac and decrypt my information. The transfer program also crashed every time my phone's screen turned off, requiring me to change the settings so my screen was constantly on before I could successfully transfer data from my iPhone.

The back button and app change button are nice, but I find myself hitting them fairly often without meaning to. It does generally make it easier to change apps though.

Unfortunately there are many quirks that have made the Edge very annoying to use. The ads on the home screen, and especially the whole page of Amazon advertising I have to swipe through is just horrible when you pay so much for a phone. As others have mentioned, the screen is also not as sensitive and there are many times I have had to tap something several times.

There are other little quirks, but the worst part to me is the horrible battery life. The battery discharges very fast. After giving it a few days, I tried to use the phone for the full day. Got up around 7am, and by 5:30pm the phone was down to 5% and essentially unusable.

I do like the phone overall, but the many little annoying bugs, the advertising even on the home screen, and poor battery life mean I will definitely be staying with the iPhone for the next couple years.

Re: Adverts.... I assume those are amazon widgets?? By holding down on them you should be able to drag them to the delete icon and remove them.

Likewise if you hold down on a blank area of the home screen or 'pinch in' you will get the home screen management pane. You can hold down and delete homesecreen pages you don't want, and you can disable the 'briefing' page on the left.

You can also choose to add new widgets and change your wallpaper from here.

Sweet! My Samsung App didn't tell me that part. That got rid of those advertising widgets. That part is better now. :)

Ya sounds like either that or what the other poster said about your provider not playing nice with your device. But you definitely had weird things I've never experienced. I have the odd app crash once in a blue moon, Inbox and other Google apps strangely being the worst offenders. I'll say ios gets the edge in stability though I've had the odd app crash and bugs when I had my iphone 6 from Black Friday till June

Yeah it amazes me that these things aren't clearly explained and demonstrated to new users of devices. All devices need these things regardless of iOS or Android clearly laid out to avoid user frustration. :)
