Just thought I would post to say how perfect the MBP is that got delivered today!

These forums do make you paranoid and just wanted to put some of your minds at rest!

1) no yelowing (unless viewing from an extreme side angle)
2) Macbook lid lines up perfect with the rest of the case
3) Screen is excellent - brilliant colours and vibrant ( there is a very faint grey line hardly noticeable unless you look close which runs along the middle of the top menu bar) but this realy is me being picky and looking hard
4) just downloaded istat pro, CPU A is at 50 degrees Celcius (only browsing and itunes)
5) This notebook is amazing!!!
6) I love the keyboard! although I find the return key a little to small but this is just me!

My screen is LG took me a while to find the thread which shows you how to find which model but eventualy found it!

Does anyone know how to see what model harddrive is installed?

I hope those waiting get there's soon, I waited 5 weeks and it was definately worth the wait!!!

Oh koops, I can't tell you how pleased I am for you. What week build is yours? Well enjoy it and congratulations!

Just wanted to follow up on my post from couple of days ago. Got my baby on the 16 and have been using it heavily since then. Initially I thought i had the yellow tint problem - turns out it is only the angle issue.

I have week 28, LG glossy display. No dead pixels, no backlight problems, no alignment issues. It is perfect and I love it. Temps initially read 50-55 degrees, but now have gone down a bit to 45-50 degrees. Upgraded to 4 gigs, and I have everything set up the way I want it. Win 2k under Fusion absolutely flies

I am happy. All I can say for peeps still waiting on theirs - hang in there - the wait is worth it.

I have exactly the same spec week 28, LG glossy and same temps!

Have you looked to see what harddrive you have installed? Not sure how to do this?

very Interesting.......

I just checkd my Macintosh HD info and it says he last time the hrd drive was opened was friday, 22 June 2007 15:22

My MBP got delivered on 18th July?!!

so why, if they had the hard drive on the 22nd june did it take them a month? Is this due to the demand? it shows that they could not have started up the MBP recently, to check before it went out? and this date would coincide with the initial ship date given ot me hat they put back?

Anyway no quarms just thought id say when you guys get your MBP right click on the Hd and click get info just to see if your HD was accessed near your shipment time, just out of curiosity?!

The screen is so bright! didn't realise it was not on full and then I ramped it up! best screen I have seen on a laptop!

I'm seen a number of postings across the internet of shipments today (July 18th), but nothing on my order status page. :( Anyway I saw this post on MacinTouch today which is getting me nervous:

Stefan Oetter
I am an Apple Dealer (have been for over 20 years) and have a heck of a time trying to get the MacBook Pros.

I just received 2 today (Of the 20 I have on order) and discovered that they were "double sealed" by Apple - meaning they were opened and resealed at the factory.

Apple is definitely having issues with them!

ophidean,

Did you happen to order your MBP through the education store or was it a regular order?

Ordered it at Apple.com on June 30th. They shipped it on July 16 and was delivered the next day, which was pretty remarkable considering it came from China. I was in NYC so I had to wait till today to get it.

After spending some time with my Mac last night I thoguht I would give some feedback.

Firstly - my mac turned up with OSX 10.4.9 I had to update to 10.4.10 which was a seemless process and not a problem - I would have thoguht that new macs would be realsed with 10.4.10 considering it was released over 3 weeks ago? (I think)

The only initial problem I had was that I couldn't connect to my wireless hub (BT Hub) (saying my password wasd invalid) after called the support desk who were very helpful they told me to put a $ in front of the password ( i was then on-line) not sure why this was not covered in the maual as they said they were aware of this protocol fault?

No other problems what so ever - i thought this info above may provide others who may come across the same problem.

This notebook is amazing, let me some up

- up and running on the internet within 25 seconds of pressing the power button!

- wireless has very imnpressive range - full 5 bars when down stairs (hub upstairs) can sit in the garden now!

- battery showing 100% when charge ( I have not calibrated it yet) gives me an estimation of 4.5 - 5 hrs when web browsing

-45 - 55 degrees operating temperature when doing light browsing (nothing too intensive)

- Downloaded a color profile from another post which looks amazing (vibrant colors and so bright!!)

- keyboard is the nicest keyboard I have used (although return key a little too small)

- Lid has an even gap betwen lid and base

- Moving over to OS X form windows has been a smotth transition so far - everythign is very intuitive

I can't say how happy I am with this MBP - the best thing is the screen on this thing - its amazing to think that alot of problems posted are about this screen but is definately one of the highlights for me

I know i may have posted a similar post earlier about my findings but now I have got over the intial excitment of recievineg the MBP, I can stand by this MBP and say that it is awsome - anyone thinking of canceling (including you Osprey!!!!) because of the wait, should reconsider, you will regret it!

(build week 28, LG glossy screen)

I just ordered my 2.2 with the upgraded drive yesterday...they say the last day that i would receive it would be Aug.7th. That's right at 3 weeks. Not too bad IMO. I wish they carried these in stock though at the apple store. I really debated just getting the stock because i could go in and walk out with one. :(

Some thoughts after a few days of use.

The MBP is awesome coming off a 13" Macbook. Everything from the LED screen (LG glossy no yellowing except at angles) to the backlit keyboard is so great. I know that backlit keyboard will help me a lot when note taking in classes - and the snazzy smooth transition effects in lighting is a very nice touch.

It is screaming fast. It is simply amazing how fast Win2k boots up under Fusion. 4gbs of ram helps a lot here.

Wireless range is a bit less compared to the Macbook. I am told the aluminum casing hurts reception. But I can access the wireless router in my apartment and that is good enough for me.

The MBP definitely stays ~20 degrees C cooler compared to my wife's Macbook, when doing the same or similar tasks when plugged in (but fans on MBP spin faster), and about ~10 degrees C when on battery.

One quirk I have noticed so far: when plugged in and battery charging up, the temp reads a steady 44-45 degrees, but the fans gradually pick up speed as time passes. My wife's Macbook never did that. Different response profiles?

I recieved it with Mac 10.4.9 and had to apply upgrades and patches. No problems post update. Though mine says I do not need to apply the latest 1.3 firmware.

This is a replacement for a Samsung screen 15 MBP I had first recieved that had the bottom yellow screen issue. Compared to that previous one, the HDD is so much quieter even though it is the same model - the first one had loud clacking sounds - wonder if it was a bum hard drive?

However, the superdrive was quieter on the previous one compared to my new one. The sound it makes upon disk insertion is very loud - and is the same as that on my wife's Macbook. The first MBP i received had a VERY quiet drive. I must state clearly though that the noise is only there upon first disk insertion - it is quiet after that.

I do not hear any scratching or static noise out of the headphones unlike some reports (like the Macintouch.com review).

Fun fact - did you know that you do not have to type in the full address in Safari if it has already been bookmarked? Spotlight automatically gives you available options depending on what letters you typed. Or the fact that it automatically fills in the "http://www." and ".com" in between what you type - for example, just type in "apple/macbookpro" in the Safari address bar and see what happens :D This is one biggest feature I miss when I use Firefox when surfing on windows.

Bottom line - I am extremely happy with this laptop. OS X is still such a pleasure to use on a daily basis compared to windows. Leopard will only be that much better come October. And I cannot wait to Bootcamp XP once Leopard is released (I do not want to deal with windows activation issues), so that I can play games - HL2, Supreme Commander, Guild Wars.

No sign of an update yet for my 2.2ghz/glossy/7200rpm. The projected ship date was July 18-23, ordered on July 8th.

Question for the people that got delayed in the past, did you get the delay before you reached your first project ship date range or in the middle of it?

If mine gets delayed I will be very very sad.

My delay occured the day after the original ship date and was put back 2 weeks - I think apple are sorting things now so you should be confident that yours will ship first time round (probably Monday) as not alot seems to happen over the weekend.

Seems that people ordered in July are getting their MBP shipped much faster than those who ordered in the end of June. Unless there are other problems arising, I suppose we will get ours shipped as projected.

On my 2nd day of projected shipdate range....I'm patiently waiting...:)

I’m finally typing on my new MacBook Pro! After using it for about 2 hours now, I already can’t imagine working without Dashboard and expose. (This is my first Mac) I don’t have any yellow issues. To keep it short, it’s perfect!

Now I’m going to continue exploring the OS-X world.

It's Saturday, and I got "Prepared for Shipment" on my Order Status page. Am I right to assume this means it will ship out on Monday (no shipping on weekends I suppose) and I'll probably get it on Wednesday? (east coast USA).

I ordered my MBP 15.4", 2.4 GHz, 7200 RPM hdd on 4th of July. No sign of it yet.

I'm unable to check the order status cause I ordered it through a second hand store.

Anyone know the average ETA on a MBP with my specs?
