Well for me i hope apple does not rush to refresh if it intend to use the latest Intel CPU.
I definitely would not want a faulty chip on a premium product.
So far only the Second Generation Core i5 and Core i7 quad are reportedly affected but with such a short time frame to test the solution, it can hardy be said to be stable.
So Apple please perform due diligence, for us Apple fans ...who love a good, stable and "JUST WORKS" product...
Geekbench your rig and compare it to a 2ghz 2011 MBP and get back to me.
Tissues at the ready
Lower clock speed but far better architecture, it doesn't need the high clock speed, it doesn't just use brute power to do tasks anymore, it does them intelligently.
We have one at work, and it has proven to be unreliable (17" 2.3ghz), it seems to overheat and lock up under heavy load, so yeah we have the tissues out to wipe away the tears of regret. Luckly the iMac will get the desktop cpu versions.

YES! This is EXACTLY what i was talking about! I remember reading an article that the newer Macbook Pros are unstable, and some one on the first page was calling me a liar.

I just read about the rumored iMac Refresh, and how they will have Intel Sandy Bridge. But what disappoints me is that, Apple's going lower on their clock speeds. Seriously, what use is a Quad Core i7 running at only 2.3 Ghz? And that will be the high end 27 inch. They also did this in the Macbook Pro line up. You'd think they would go with 3 Ghz by now, in fact they used to have 3.06 Ghz iMacs. It's just making it easier and easier to just want to Install Mac OS X on deserving hardware rather than paying a premium for theirs. As it is, My PC is running 10.5.8 with an OC'd processor (You can't do that with a mac) and it's lightning fast compared to Windows 7.
You are severely misinformed and have absolutely no idea how Intel's processors work. That 2.3 GHz machine can crank up to 3.4 GHz while under heavy load thanks to something called turbo boost. It would run rings around any Core 2 Duo even if it didn't have turbo boost. Clock speed alone is far from the whole story.
