RX 580 does 4K max. That's according to AMD.....
Link please?
I find that hard to believe in that it has DisplayPort 1.4 support.
Maybe over MST 5K is a problem but once DP1.4 5K displays are more readily available I suspect it’ll handle 5K with ease.

There are indeed people that get a RX 580 working with the HP display at 5K on hackintosh, but it involves tools that are not available for cMP. That's a pity...

Yep, Mac users in general who can't use LG's Thunderbolt 3 5K display are out of luck as far as 5K is concerned until vendors start releasing DisplayPort 1.4 based 5K displays. IF that ever happens!

Technically once the dealers run out of stock everyone is out luck. HP and Dell discontinued their 5k's even after a relatively short time available. Only ones I have seen for sale are either used or left over dealer stock.

Oooh, they have them in stock...and cheaper than my original order. Still not at cheap as some lucky folks have got from Amazon, but savings none the less.

I may just have to put one on order.

Edit: Oh hang on...taxes and duty not included. Forgetaboutit!

Well, afterwards I'm glad I bought the Sapphire Pulse RX580 for $280 in November, with shipping costs and taxes $340.

Today's prices are just insane for a card with the performance of a GTX 970. The RX 580 should cost around $220.

Hey,

thanks for response. I'm using Vectorworks - imo best allrounder right now, even if super buggy if used proberly and not "just" for 2D illustrations i really love it - especially the new possibility to script...
If this would be my daily job machine I would switch to Windows immedialtely... but i like OSX - as you said: because of workflow habits.
This is my private machine, mostly used for creative stuff like music production and some ArchViz, and from time to time i work on it...

RX 570 4GB is too low for my purposes, at work i max out 6GB VRAM constantly.

I use Vectorworks 2018 for my main CAD work station. MY Mac Pro 5,1, 6 core 3.46 is presently running 10.13.3 with out problems. The 2018 version of Vectorworks is very stable and I have no issues with VW 2018. However I am running a Mac Edition Nvidia GPU. There is very little the new 2018 Vectorworks can’t built. If your software is buggy you might check with VW tech support they can be very helpful.
