I've installed SwitchResx to see if it keeps it at the resolution I set it at, also ordered a HDMI to USB-C cable to try out, probably wont make any difference or be worse....

Even with a M1 Max, it runs at 120 Hz PIP side by side.

I dont think its the screen, its MacOs which is a bitttccchh! Woke up from sleep today and settings are good since installing SwitchResx

I have got the same arm but looks like one has copied the other.... Ultrarm. I wanted one which would put the monitor back further than the stand but its pretty much the same but without the stick out crappy legs

The arm mount board looks the same as mine and there are not many ways to get two pivots, the Ultrarm is even cheaper (Cyber Monday deal on Amazon) than my Bewiser. but that screen doesn't look like my Samsung 57". I see you have stacked arms and positioned the widescreen below your eye height. My widescreen is positioned so my eye height is most of the way up the screen. I don't look upwards.

thats not mine but mine is at eye level near top of the screen (so look slightly down) so about the same where it was with the stand. I think if i clamp it to the right of the desk then I can have the arm straight without it folding on itself so then can have the monitor further back. It is a decent arm.

Also regarding the monitor from waking I noticed it always puts the display in lower res at 3840x1080, then SwitchResx kicks in and applies the full 7680x2160 resolution. Without SwitchResx I would have to re-boot the Mac mini!

I raise the bottom of the Samsung 170mm above the desk. Nearly 7".

Tried an 8k USB-C to DP cable but the Mac kept crashing from sleep! Annoying AF. I have got 2 x 16k cables coming tomorrow see how they which I read someone running on an Mac Mini M4 Pro with no issues so will see how they go.

At the moment HDMI - HDMI with SwitchresX is only way to keep the Mac from keeping the resolution 7680x2160 @ 120hz from wake.

Both 2 x 16k cables did sod all, both crash from waking up the mac mini! So sticking with HDMI.

The 2 x 16k were DP to USB-C. I already tried HDMI to USB-C, all the same problem...crashing the mac from sleep.

My original cable I used HDMI to HDMI was working fine when first got the monitor but once it went to sleep and got woken up it decided it only wanted to display at 3840x1080 and remove 7680x2160 from the Display options in Mac settings (unless I rebooted...EVERYTIME!) hence why I installed Switchresx

For those that have this monitor and primarily using Mac OS, can you all tell if it is worth it? Or is there better options?

Hard to imagine a bigger monitor than the 57'. It's hard for me to go back to a 27" 4K monitor after this. I have lots of windows open when writing my papers. I use I a very wide timeline when editing videos. Or as a hobbyist photographer, this size is great to view stunning panoramas. I don't like the 40" widescreens because the screen height there is too small, it's like looking through a slit by comparison. In other words, I have no regrets yet. Some day I hope to drive the monitor with just one cable. Right now because the M1 Max doesn't support 8K, two HDMI cables with PIP side by side at 120Hz is what I have.

Picked up a Mac Mini M4 Pro, no wake up issues so far....(not running Switchresx) just to check it out of the box with my HDMI to HDMI cable.

How do you connect to two HDMI on M1 Max, there is only one HDMI port, also why PIP?

Also, does the M1 Max sees it as two monitors? And if it does, is it continuous?

I have a dock. The M1 Max can support up to 4 displays I think. One HDMI cable directly from the laptop. One HDMI cable from the dock. PIP can be side by side. Then displays can be arranged. So the mouses goes between the two. And the windows can be as wide as you want. See Samsung display

So far, yes, power cycling the monitor always brings it back. It has 3 HDMI connectors. I have all three wired, as it's nearly impossible to get behind my desk and undo the cover. So if one goes flaky, I grab another one and plug it into my dock.
I gave up on that cover ;_; It looks really nice with the cover on, but taking it off to change the cables is a giant pain so I gave up and left it in a corner. Then the cover fell over and got scratched up. So lame! Well, it still looks fine without the cover.

I recommend attaching all the cables at one sitting. So I have all 3 hdmi ports and the DP port connected to the monitor even if there is nothing connected to them on the other end. Then duct tape them down for strain relief, so no cable is wonky or pulling. Close the oover.
