So my new case/cover arrived today. It's as close as you can get tons skin in a case form. Went for the MNML case. This one:

I had a Spigen Air Skin on my iPhone X and found it the best case for the "as close to design feel" of the phone. They don't do one for the Note 10 so had to look elsewhere. I tried 2 Spigen cases on the Note (Liquid Air and Thin Fit) but both had a raised edge that made swipe up from bottom gestures difficult.

There is no doubt the MNML case will protect the phone in a drop but everything else should do the trick. The phone feels so good in the "nearly naked" look.

I know this is a Note 10 thread so will keep non related thoughts to a minimum :) and more what you gain and loose vs our Note's

Make no mistake the Fold is a premium device with a weightyness that compliments it when folded.

It's not big in the pocket if anything it's less obtrusive being narrow re easier to stuff a rolled up newspaper in a pocket, the Note width is noticeably more when sitting down in your front pocket by comparison

The main screen bezels are big yet small proportionally to screen but a bit shinny plastic and would deteriorate and ping off if you dare to keep this for say 5 years, a bit like the old white macbooks lol.

The main screen feel under your finger tip feels identical to our Note's with stock screen protector on but the fold/crease is noticeable when you scroll across screen. The screen is big and bright because there is simply more of it.

The fold and notch also disappear from conscious thought rapidly especially in landscape mode , not all apps go to the edge to you do not see it as a cutout and the loss or real estate is not relevant when your already that big

The front screen is small by today's standards and if you use the free/supplied case it is nicely framed and the big chins are not apparent.

The front screen has full customisation independent of the main so double the fun

I thought i would miss the in screen fingerprint but the side scanner is the correct choice for this device and super quick. I would of liked the case to have framed it more like the S9's cases but muscle memory will take over soon

I was an avid side bar user with a minimalist home page layout but this has change on the Fold. The side bar is now a tray for launching the various split screen modes (will post some screen shots). This means I have change my once only folder app trays to the first tray being my top 20 apps and my 2nd tray to lessor used apps in their folders, still. This approach for different reasons is more important on the front screen due to available screen size.

The front screen when configured correctly is a great notification and app launcher re see whats urgent tap on it and unfold to reply in luxury :) or for privacy and quick replies stay on the front screen.

It is possible to access all functions from the front screen and I wonder what battery endurance you would get just using that on an extended trip

Make no mistake this is not a one handed device although some functions are possible and with the front screen more so, its best 2 handed. If like me you are always a flip case user there is no transition.

The sticker price is a bit off putting but with free buds and it can eliminate a small tablet or kindle from your inventory it starts to look more reasonable given storage 512GB

Fragility may be a show stopper for some but given most are likely to trade in on the next Samsung release I don't see an issue with that and the bundled screen replacement gives some peace

I have only come across one simple app that the next arrow was obscure by another piece of text due to display not being optimal, but a quick flip back to front screen solved that

There is little between the S10/Fold and the Note's cameras other than DOF and the 3d scanner is not really working as of yet and who needs doodles LOL

The big screen is great for media, email, photo's etc, that's a given and the whole purpose. However the split screen mode and pop ups/floating windows similarly get a boost.

The double split from the task tray is the best with say email on one side primary and your favourite message app on the other. where replies are easy to accomplish, if you go to 3 apps ie mail and 2 messenger apps the 2 become more of a notification/viewer than actually useful IMO. Other apps that stream or just need viewing may be better.

The loss of the Note's pen is really more about note taking, it's still possible because of screen size to annotate accurately with a fine line, but adding notes not so easy with your finger.

I will post some screen shots of apps spilt:

Your welcome

Yep agree we cant stay just in the world of clamshell laptops and glass slabs for phones no more than than everyone owning a 4 door saloon. We need variety of the SUV, PSV, cross over etc LOL

Here's a shot of a quick edit on a render for my friend house plan, more a reflection of my poor writing the the fold but shows its easy to annotate without the note pen

My battery is getting worse and draining more quickly

Any recommendations on perhaps turning certain setting off or perhaps putting apps to sleep?

I never get the magical onscreen time others get, but if it lasts all day, that's all I really care about.

Well scene seems to be mine

I am getting 4 hours screen time and I have 40% battery left.
I haven't used my phone that intensively today however.
My best guess is screen brightness especially using outdoor or setting is high even on learning preferences

Else

A bit of cell or Wifi hunting in poor areas eg car park

Sometimes i get day and half for medium/heavy use believe it or not.
If you have a virus or phone is hacked your phone will overheat and also drain battery.

Download Bitdefender, Norton and AVG antivirus, you will get comprehensive report of your phone.

Not sure about most of you, I only monitored my battery when I first got the phone. The battery life was always easily over 5hrs screen on time. I've always felt, if a phone gets at least 5+ hrs screen on time, I'm good. Any more than that is just gravy. With that being said, after a month I stopped monitoring my battery, as I rarely ever hit under 50%. No matter where I go, I'm always charging my battery. I've got wireless charging throughout the house, at the office, and a car charger. Wherever I am, I'm always charging my phone. I never use fast charging, unless I really need it. Battery life just doesn't seem to be an issue like it used to be. Mid-tier phones are coming with 1080P screens and 4000+ mAh batteries. Flagships are coming with big batteries and super fast charging. Until Samsung introduced graphene batteries, I think the overall discussion of battery life will be, "my battery gets me through the whole day, I'm good."

Yeah, i thought i could do it but it's just not for me. I gave my perspective as an Apple user in case the person I was responding to is in a similar position.

There are ads on Bixby Home, Samsung Pay, and the Galaxy Store (i had to watch a video to even install a watch face)

Samsung Pay, and Galaxy store have adds for different places you can shop, and apps you can buy from the store. Apple has the same thing in their store. lol.

Seems to me you were making excuses to go back because everything you mentioned could be fixed easily.

So after having my Note 10 for 9 days the Mrs wanted one to 🤣 Got hers yesterday on our weekend away. An encrypted backup on her iPhone X made Smart Switch awkward but managed to get there in the end.

Really enjoying the total customisation that Android (With Nova launcher) offers. Disappointed that our bank don't yet support Samsung Pay but Google Pay works just fine so uninstalled the Samsung Pay app to avoid accidental activation.

Beware

It's only a major security flaw if you setup your fingerprints with the silicon protector in place. I'd like to think that the vast majority of users would be clever enough to do this but there are some retards out there that do strange things but common sense isn't so common nowadays.

Top tip. Set your fingerprints up then install the protector. There are no flaws this way.

weird. I have never seen advertisements that I couldn’t disable on the Today screen on iOS, nor do I have to enable apple to track my web activity to use Siri to control my smart home devices. but sure, yes, looking for excuses.

anti virus for a phone? is that really necessary - doesn't it slow your phone down even more?

It's a bit strange that Samsung include McAfee as standard isn't it?

I have it in the Device Care settings under Security.

I have no idea what kind of an antivirus app it is but it says "Powered by McAfee" on the screen.

I also find it a bit strange to find Microsoft products offered on a Samsung device... 🤔

A while back on my s7e lookout updated and proceeded to run like crazy and prompted the new babysitter mode Sammy included to complain about the app draining battery and running in the background. I subsequently uninstalled the update and left it updated since.

Says who it slows your phone down? In fact it makes your phone more responsive, clean of any junk leftovers and most of all will secure your phone 24×7.

Those anti virus scanners are an absolute joke according to my IT friends.

Instead relying on your IT friends how about you try them yourself and see how you go?

You smart enough to make your own judgement and experience.

After installing the pro version of the above mentioned apps i can say i am 100% satisfied.

You wasted your money, according to people I know who actually write code and know how “viruses” work. I don’t need to spend money on snake oil.

No its a small price to pay for a piece of mind, you also get a reliable VPN , app locks , ram boosters with the package. I said it a while ago my s7edge was infected with extremely annoying virus that kept directing me to play store and other websites. My phone camera was also hacked. Now after the free trial i was impressed and went pro.
