I don't expect anything special.

I also don't care much as Samsung is now off my radar thanks to regional lock. I'm planning to run my Note 2 into the ground until something that would actually be a huge upgrade comes up.

Same here. I don't know what Samsung could do that would improve the Note 4 over the Note 3.

A GPE version that still integrates some S-Pen functionality, with a more premium feeling unibody design ;)

In all seriousness, it's certainly a beast performance-wise. At this point I think it comes down to matter of preference. For instance, I dislike Samsung's design aesthetic, both in hardware and software. However, for every person like me, there's someone else who likes it quite a bit--hence the rather robust sales of the Note series.

I know people will moan if they don't improve it by alot but really how much can you improve a great device.

I agree, there's only so much you can improve with this device(And others). Most if not all of the major advancements in mobile have already been made. Now we are only going to see refinements at this point. What's almost certain is the same 16MP camera found in the GS5, finger print scanner, and heartbeat sensor. I'm sure a 6"+ screen is almost certain as well. I love my GN3, so will most certainly be keeping it until the Note 4 is released.

I think the Note 4 will be Samsung first 64bit Smartphone, Qualcomm will have the 810 out by then which is suppose to be 64bit, also Android 4.5 or 5.0 is also rumoured to be 64bit aswell.

Memory will be 4GB
Internal storage will be same 32GB as standard
Micro SD support for 256GB, which is rumoured to be out by the end of 2014
Screen 5.9" QHD
Better battery
Camera slightly improved on the S5 snapper, still be 16MP and offer all the features the S5 camera offers, maybe even OIS this time around.
Improved fingerprint scanner
Design will still probs be plastic unfortunately & it might not be water resistant, due to the S Pen, unless they find a way to seal up the slot the S pen fits into without being annoying.
KNOX's security will hit a new high in pissing off those that like to root & install custom roms, by locking it down so you can't even think about rooting or putting a custom rom on it without it flagging up 0x1 :p

That's a he'll of a lot of improvements! From your list starting at the camera improvements, I agree. We'll see...

Yeah, the Knox thing will piss off many in this forum.

^ likewise if you do root not only will it feck up your warranty it likely will break the finger print scanner (ask HTC one Max owners)...

There was also talk of Samsung integrating Knox deeply with the finger print scanning software, meaning you root, or if your Knox counter gets triggered inadvertently that happened to me when I did a force factory reset in Kies - you not only lose your warranty, but break the scanner...

I predict this is going to plague S5 & Note 4 users this year...

Knox is evil .... It doesn't protect consumers, it poops on them from a great height.

Knox is the main reason why I think me and Samsung are going to part ways. This Note 3 will probably be my last Samsung phone. Outside of making all the features work without Knox, there is nothing that would compel me to stay with this brand anymore.

More and more i am coming to the same conclusion as you and MRU.
My S4 was an awesome phone. I could root and flash as many roms as i liked. It really made the phone more enjoyable to me. Being able to go to pure vanilla Android for a week...then back to a stock rom or any flavor in between. With my N3 you can root. But flashing roms is not such and easy task. It can be done but the risks out weight the benefit now. Plus no pure vanilla Android for the N3.
I might have to look at the LG G3 or the Sony Z2.

I agree with you guys here. I love to flash my cellie phone and Knox just makes this harder for us to do that very well.

Meh, rooting was so ice cream sandwich ago. As long as Sammy keeps putting out a beast of a phone I'll continue to play.

If there is no more rooting fun, I can't see myself dropping huge bills on their new handsets. I love flashing ROMs and this Knox crap has really limited the dev community. Unlike with the Note II which was amazing in quality and quantity of options... Pre-Knox.

Yep and surprisingly despite the near $4,000 reward - Knox has still beaten the community and the likelihood is that going forward Knox will be even more embedded into feature sets of the phone such as the finger print scanner....

Flashing Roms is fun and addictive.......it really changes the look and feel of the phone. It is like having a different phone every time you flash a new Rom.
I am seriously thinking of selling my N3 on swappa. Not being able to get ASOP on it is disappointing. The S5 and N4 will probably have Knox even more integrated.....

http://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/03/samsung-announcing-new-high-class-device-tomorrow.html

If they do release a premium version then we might see a Premium N4 version.

Sadly Knox is required at work but I have work arounds so it doesn't bother me as a rooter. There are reports people tripping their 0x1 and still being able to get a warranty repair while getting a reset. Hopefully this stays the same down the road.

Depending on what's in the N4 I might wait for N5 to upgrade my N3 but the gotta get a new gadget sucker in me probably won't be able to resist. Plus its a great excuse to get since I hand me down my old device to my parents. Hahaha.

I'm one of those that intends to keep phones till they die ( though, I've had 4 phones in the last 3 years ;) ) As such, the ability to root and load custom roms becomes important to me beyond the supported life of the phone. No way I'm buying a locked down phone.

If you want to root and load custom roms beyond the supported life of the phone, how does knox prevent this? Doesn't it just void warranty which would be moot?

Every iOS update claims that it can't be jailbreakable, yet it is always done. My work phone is an iPhone 5 and with every iPhone I have ever had I jailbreak it. There needs to be a stronger hacking community that can render the knox security innocuous, at least for the latest android iteration. Actually, like Apple, Samsung could really benefit.

For me, like Dontazemebro above, rooting my Note is not that compelling. As is, with Nova Prime, my Note is fantastic. But, that's me...

I picked up a note 3 cheap it has had knox tripped so no warranty, they put 4.4.2 on it. Its all good. Being a Apple guy how would customising benefit me and how do i go about it. I know its a big topic, any good web sites i could look at?

Check out http://www.xda-developers.com. It's a very active rooters, modders, hackers etc... community.
