it's going to get to a point where these android phones aren't going to fit in your pocket..... Why would I want to use that monstrosity as a phone? that thing is borderline tablet.

Lol. I see where they're getting at. It's like a phone and a tablet at once...

I like the idea.....but........It isn't very practical....??? o_O

You can still use a stylus on an iPhone, just because it didn't come with one doesn't mean you can't use it.
The stylus for the iPhone is essentially an alternative to a finger.
It offers no enhancement over using your finger. There is no precision.

The stylus on the Note works with both location and pressure.
The Wacom digitizer has near pixel precision. Press harder and the contact field expands.

Good news: Android devices come in many sizes, not just this particular one.

It's more like a medium sized notepad for those of us with shirt and/or coat pockets. For some people and professions it'll be the perfect size. For other people, something larger or smaller will do better.

It's no different than the way people use different size paper notebooks with varying types of pens and pencils... instead of always using a fat crayon on an 8.5x11" sheet.

Not sure why people complain about the stylus pen. I mean, you DON'T have to use the stylus, its just optional to use. Its good to have options! People make it seem like, you have to use it.

I like it in white. Looks good.

The Galaxy Note can comfortably fit in your jeans pocket too:

YouTube: video
Actually kinda funny, it's like all the people who bs about Android phones in general not fitting in pockets, yet somehow my i777 GS2 fits perfect and never get's jammed sideways like my iPhones have. Then you have people on here who complain that phones can't get bigger b/c the iPhone barely fits in their pockets.... what are they wearing size 0 girl jeans lol ?!?!

I wouldn't buy the note for myself, but it fills a niche, and handles that niche well.

i think people make fun of it because of the commercial where Samsung acts like its such a great new thing when its really a regression in technology. technically speaking at least.

How is integrating the precision of a Wacom digitizer into something as small as a 5.3" screen "regressing"?

Stop looking at the stylus and look at what it can do.
This is the AT&T version... it has a slightly faster CPU than the EU version.

Now take your finger or even a capacitive touch stylus and try and do the same thing on your iPhone or iPad. You can't.

Or too cheap to get a simple bluetooth headset like the rest of the corporate world

Bluetooth earsets make you look like a douchebag from 5 years ago. Once bluetooth earpieces actually fit in the ear canal, essentially making them invisible, they won't make you look like a complete tool. But you'll stilllook like a nutjob talking to yourself.

The stylus immediately makes me think of a PDA from the early 90's. Maybe younger kids won't have the same thoughts, but for a phone, this is about the dumbest thing in the world. If Apple had invented this, I would have thrown up in my mouth a little.

For a tablet, I can see some niche group being able to utilize it, like painters, but for the most part, the stylus is a waste. Why handwrite when you can type? Do you really need to mark up your photo's with a stylus. I don't know anyone that would want to do that except pre-teen girls. Maybe that's the demographic for this product? IDk?

Full size keyboard is the only even remotely close way to type fast as you can write. With the Note converting to text you can literally write to print with one hand faster then a full size keyboard using both.

Perfect for anyone on there feet and/or those trying to take notes extremely quickly. Perfect for business meetings, journalist, college students, doctors, etc. We had to use note pads in labs in college cause I had to be moving. I'd have love to have something like this.

Look at the threads in the iPad section of macrumors. Always someone looking for a better stylus app/solution.

This is and has been a product marketed an older business professional. Keeping in mind this is coming to the US cause so many have been buying foreign SN since they were released 4 months ago.

Not really for me but I could see the usefulness of it but not for teens wanting to draw.

It's stored in the phone. ;)
But you would have known that if you bothered to actually look at the promo material. So no need to fret about it taking up any precious space.

Space? You think I'm worried about space? It's taking up my precious memory. I could see myself buying 3 of these a week.

just call it what it is- a lame iPad.

Tell that to the iPad users that feel ripped off you can't use it for stylus note taking. At least anything that's worth a ****.

Yay for going BACKWARDS with technology.

Let's move away from touching the screen and bring back a freaking stylus! THAT'LL SELL US BILLIONS BOB! THAT'S GENIUS!

If it has a stylus, it has failed.

looking at the above posted pic, imho samsung has got little innovative skills left OR they are just being lazy.. i would love to see more options in market as consumer

Samsung is definitely a leading innovating company... even though they are not as good as Apple... All iPhones are using their LCD and chipsets for a reason
