Hey would you guys mind sharing a brief TL;DR about how you're using Dex? I've been intrigued since I saw the first demos but when I google it now I get too much info and it's hard to wade through it all to find a concise description of the really useful features.

I can't speak for others, but for me... the only realistic way I use it is to share files or photos between my iMac and Note. Its only 1080p.. so the resolution isn't all that nice with my iMac.

But with Dex you can use Office apps... I think that's the main selling point. You can buy a monitor and just use it as a desktop operating system. But for me.. it defeats the purpose with using macOS on top of Dex.

I use Dex mostly as @Ludatyk suggests. It is an easy way to drag files and photos between my Macs, Surface Pro, Network Storage and Galaxy Note. You can drop them into Files, either internal storage or external micro SSD. Or, drag them out and onto my computers. PDF, Word Document, screen capture, etc. It is one of the advantages I think of the Samsung phone in having access to the file system and the ability to add external memory via Micro SD. Using Dex beats having to remove the Micro SD card and putting it in a card reader to read it.

Another use for Dex is if, for example, you have a PDF, Word Document, Excel Spreadsheet, PowerPoint point presentation, etc., on your phone that you need to access for a business call. In this case, you can fire up Dex and open the file from your phone on your Desktop (or TV for wireless) that you need to reference view while using your phone for taking a call. You can then reference it full screen while you talk rather than trying to talk while viewing it on a small phone screen while talking on that same phone. It isn't a game-changer, but it is useful.

I think it is a game-changer. It has the potential of plugging up a iPhone to a monitor and it transforms to macOS. Because I like what Samsung is doing with Dex, but it's not quite there yet. More features need to be added... and it need to be more customizable.

The fact you can actually get by.. with using Dex with a monitor, is pretty sweet.. if you ask me.

Could anyone who has been using Note 20 Ultra this past week comment in depth on its cameras and image quality? I love my Note 10+ but am tempted to upgrade to 20 Ultra bc of good Samsung trade-in program and new features. Also considering waiting to see 12 Pro Max features before making final decision as I think iPhone generally does better job with image processing. Just not sure it's enough of a difference to compensate for plethora of other features that Note offers and Pro Max does not. Anyway I would love to hear thoughts from those who have been using the phone.

But that’s the beauty of earpods with the ability to easily toggle it on or off. Both the Sony WF-1000XM3 and AirPods Pro have really good ambient mode/transparency mode that actively bring the outside world into your ears and much better ANC when enabled vs. the Buds Live. I found the Buds Live to have inferior versions of both ambient mode and ANC vs. the competition. They’re fairly good wireless earbuds overall but nobody should purchase them specifically for those features.
To be fair the Buds Live are not full in ear that's why they are far more comfortable, you need a good seal for ANC to be really effective

I like the Buds Live as its a good compromise and you do not have to keep switching ANC on or off etc or ambient mode etc

Just pop them in and your good to go for outdoors use, for better ANC for zoning out Airpods Pro are a poor choice against others

You should watch D2D review of the Tab7 with Dex he explains how in tablet mode for consumption is great but DEX adds a new level of productivity mode that functions far more like a laptop OS giving the best of both worlds with true window sizing and multitasking etc

Flossy video on his Note simple showed him using DEX as a video player in his bedroom TV whist he still continued to use his phone normally

I have done the same myself when travelling as our streaming service is android so the Mrs can watch her UK soaps on the hotel TV from my phone

DEX will also work on any laptop screen so you can have a better multi window version of your phone apps on your screen than say "Your Phone" app has in W10

The fact that DEX is now wireless helps a lot and although you can use your phone as a trackpad its still better with a BT KB than a virtual KB

DEX needs a few more productivity apps than just MS Office but the concept of this productivity mode has legs IMO

It certainly adds a new dimension of interacting with your phone from your laptop and I guess gamers will find uses :)

I think it is pretty sweet as well. But in your post you pretty much summed up why it isn't quite a game changer yet, "it's not quite there yet." But it is showing promise :)

You are putting two and two together.. when I feel that the idea is game changing, that's my point. Whether or not the features need to be there in order for it to be game changing... I don't think it's relevant. At this point right now, the fact that it can transform to a different UI when plugged to a monitor is game changing to me.

It's as if.. when the iPad was introduced... was it game changing? Or now that it has transformed to do so much other things... with mulititasking support, with trackpad support, that's game changing? IMO, when Apple first introduced the iPad it was game changing.

Whoa. That's really, really cool. This makes me want the new Note. As a student, I can see a lot of uses for this.

Is there a good, reliable notes/PDF app for Android? I use GoodNotes and Notability for all of my school notes. Can I open up and write on PDFs in the Samsung Notes app?

Samsung recently updated their Samsung Notes app for Note 9 and 10 users. Here's the splash screen of the new features...

*edit. I recorded a video... but had some personal information at the end. But you can indeed import PDFs and write on them along with additional features.

Things get buried in here fast. I posted changes to Samsung Notes in an earlier post.

Some new feature updates for Samsung Notes and the Note 20 dropped in a recent update:

What's new
Add features applied to N20 device.

- You can create a new note as a PDF, or add a PDF to a note.

- You can writes notes freely by hand anywhere on images, pdfs, and text.

- Notes with infinite scrolling page and individual pages are provided.

- You can organize notes with folders and create subfolders as you want.

- Default templates are provided, but you can download various templates as a PDF or in image format to change your note background.

- When you choose dark mode using Quick Panel, dark mode will also be applied to the note body area.

- If you play a recorded file in a note, you can check the contents which were written during recording.

- You can straighten tilted handwriting with one touch.

- You can export a note to PowerPoint format so that you can check it in Office application.

Really good shoot out

The note won by quite a margin for me
I wish Samsung had an option to turn down the bokeh effect. I was surprised how many times I did choose Note 20U shots and that I almost always preferred its color balance. I like the camera to show what my eyes see in terms of detail and feel like the Note often blurs background too much for my preference.
This is a imaging decision that I think they could rectify with updates? But all in all, the camera improvements seem sizable and are making me lean toward an upgrade rather than going back to iPhone and losing all the other Note features.

Just shows how alot of these camera comparisons are decided on brand.. pixel is a great camera but people really say its the best no matter what when it's not always the case

For me, it's the best by a long way vs Samsung and iPhone.
These tests don't show pictures that you take every day really. They don't have the kids or pets running around or the moments you capture in an instant. That's where the Pixel is the best and always has been.

But take pictures of a street, a person stood still, a building, a night time ally way - it's anyone's game.
