@kkh786 how have u found battery on the s20+?
I have gone past the two week mark and things have settled down including the initial heating issues.

I have everything ON including the Bluetooth, GPS, and 120hz refresh rate at high performance mode.

Battery has been decent with my heavy usage. Easily more than 5 hours screen on time. I'm happy with that!

Not sure i want a 5G phone. But my screen is very cracked on my S9 and need to get another phone. Id rather get something cheap as Samsung phones are ridiculously priced now. Maybe a S10e but a 5G just dont seem to float my boat with the signal thing going on that i read about....and the cost of one.
Im just not into needing to have the best anymore. Its a phone that will do what i need is what i want. Thinking of the Oneplus 8?

I dont know, whats a decent priced phone out there these days that i can just pay cash and not fork out a ton? Huawei still an option?
I havent been keeping up with everything these days.

if your are leaning towards the S20 series, they are on sale at Microsoft.

I was a little disappointed in seeing stutter during animations in the S20 lineup when trying then out at a store yesterday. I thought 120hz should have eliminated that entirely by now, but I guess software optimization is really important. An iPhone with 60hz screen feels more polish and fluid constantly during opening and closing apps. Only felt same feeling with the Xiaomi MI 10.

I really like Samsung One UI but men, enough with the stutter. It's a 1.000$ phone. Samsung doesn't spend enough time optimising the software for its phones.

I've said it here before and I'll probably say it a million more times...store demos are not representative of the actual retail software. Demos are meant to be cranked up to max brightness with flashy demo software and bloatware games. The screens are setup to not go off so the CPU is maxed and the phone usually hasnt been restarted in weeks. It's not accurate of how the phone will perform in real life.

Thanks but I think I might possibly get one of the new Galaxy A series phones that just came out. Cheaper still. I don't need top of the line and those seems pretty good for the price.
Same here. Was about to buy a A71 yesterday for 300€. Amazing deal, but after spending time playing with it and other phones at the store I ended up not buying it due to stutter in animations.

The screen is amazing. Great design, great battery life. I tried the S20 hoping the high refresh rate screen would eliminate any stutter but still was there. Frustrating.

A71 for 300€ is a great deal with high end phones being at 1.000€ nowadays.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. But I'm not willing you buy a 1.000€ phone without being entirely sure is as fluid as I expected it to be.

I tried a Xiaomi MI 10 and it was flawless.

I sure hope a personal unit is more fluid. I would be very happy with a A71 or S20. But can't stand stutter anymore. My two year old P20 doesn't have almost any.

I have an S20 Ultra, and experience zero stutter or lag. Have had no performance problems whatsoever.

As someone else mentioned, I wouldn't use a demo unit as a benchmark. I've messed with iPhones at an Apple store and some will do the same thing. They've been handled by God knows how many people, and tinkered with....

Having spend a couple months with it now, the S20 plus is the best phone Ive ever used. Not a surprise really given the specs and that its the newest smartphone. But honestly, the camera has been really good which was one of my worries. Battery is great, phone is really fast, and One UI is great. Only complaints with this phone are biometric method is average as best and the phone cant run 120Hz at QHD. And thats just nitpicking. Great phone.

If you have an S20, the Note later this year probably isnt worth the upgrade. But if you dont have an S20, I imagine the Note 20 Plus will be about as good of a device as you can buy.

Agree with the above. Once they can nail the biometrics, it will be game over for all others IMO

Samsung needs to ditch the FPS and go with a facial biometric system similar to Google and Apple.
I agree. It is VERY frustrating. Pulled out the S20+ yesterday to update things and my fingers were a bit dry. FPS didn't work at all. I set it up using multiple "prints" for my finger and don't have a screen protector installed either.

I guess I'm the odd one out here. I have a 99% success rate with the FPS on my Ultra. The sensitivity and change of location has made the under display FPS almost as good as a physical FPS. This is really the first time with an under display FPS, that I don't even think about it when I use it. A far cry from previous Samsung flagships.

Being that said, I would still like Face ID as well.

I might be old school then. I prefer the FPS option over the constant blasting of infrared on my eyes from the 3D face scanning solutions. Never liked the iris scanners from past Samsung flagships either.

I use the basic 2D face unlock for unlocking the S20+. The FPS is used for secure unlocking of certain apps like banking, Samsung Pass etc. This arrangement seems to work well.

Furthermore, I rarely have the FPS malfunction on me. I would go far as saying the FPS is a desirable feature for me. This function has been mostly flawless on the S20+, I had similar performance on the Note10 FPS to be fair.

I didn’t use the FPS for long on my note 10+ so I can’t comment on its long term performance. However when I used it I had no issues whatsoever. I’d say I had about a 98% success rate. I thought it would give me a lot of problems but it didn’t. It just worked. I’d be opening my phone hundreds of times a day and it worked.

I like Face ID but at the moment it’s a real PITA when I’m wearing a mask all day at work. As I said it’s not just unlocking the phone. It’s all the other apps that are set to unlock with Face ID.

for me the FPS on the S20 was slow. It was a hit and miss. I tried re-doing my prints and added different fingers and my thumb. When it worked it was fast. But then it didn't work half of the time. The FPS is what lead me to get rid of the S20+ and keep the P4XL. The facial biometrics on the P4XL and 11 Pro Max is just too fast and easy to use. Heck on the P4XL I don't have to touch the screen at all to be at my home screen and all my banking apps work with it.
Personally I would like to see all FPS tech replaced with biometric facial solutions. They are just too easy to use.

I don’t prefer a FP over FaceID in most cases but I’d sure love to have the option to use both/either, especially considering the state of things now. So yes, that means I’d love Apple to slide one under the screen, so long as it works well.
