Yeah minor upgradeOne article I read stated Samsung rushing the S21 series with an earlier release could mean a smaller upgrade overall from the S20 series.
That would be a real shame!
I don't think its fully a sensor issue its seems to be more a fingerprint pattern of the user issue. I guess they can implement a more widely compatible sensor to cater for a varied pool of fingerprint patterns.Any rumors about an upgrade to the in display fingerprint sensor? I’m not upgrading even for an improvement on that. (It would take a combination of factors). But I am wondering if Samsung really considers the current fps representative of a good functioning sensor. I sure don’t.
Whoa, it’s worked as well as TouchId for you?😯 🤯I don't think its fully a sensor issue its seems to be more a fingerprint pattern of the user issue. I guess they can implement a more widely compatible sensor to cater for a varied pool of fingerprint patterns.
From my experience, my FPS both on my current S20+ and earlier Note10 were flawless akin to iPhone TouchID level performance.
And I suspect if the Samsung testers were seeing similar performance to mine then Samsung won't have the FPS on top of their priority list.
I can echo what @kkh786 said about the FPS. I have the Note 20 Ultra and the FPS has been almost perfect.Whoa, it’s worked as well as TouchId for you?😯 🤯
I’m fine on Touch ID, Pixel’s sensors and the sensor that was on my S9, S8, and my HTC 10. I did have trouble with the first generation Touch ID and the sensor on S7 Edge and S7. My prints used to be a mess when I was doing landscaping work but I haven’t been doing much of that the last 3 years.
Well if it’s really me and not the sensor I need to rethink my commitment to Samsung. I literally can not use this form of biometric authentication on their phones. It’s been a problem on 3 different phones with in display touch sensors now.
I’ve been biometrically locked out of my accounts that I’d set up using my fingerprint on my S8 and S9. I had been kind of waiting for them to upgrade the sensor but I guess now I know I am waiting in vain. 😢
My husband doesn’t have quite the same difficulty I have, but it’s not the best experience for him, either.
I don’t mind unlocking my phone with my passcode. But I’ve gone to long more secure passwords on my accounts. On my iPhone/ipad/SE2 I just use Face ID or Touch ID and I’m in. I get locked out on Samsung so I don’t use my S20 to conduct any kind of business anymore.
I was using my s20 to watch videos, handle emails and some forum posts and to talk to my dad because it was better at being a phone. But my iPhone 12 has a Qualcomm modem now. I don’t have the same phone quality issues on iPhone anymore.
I guess I’ll have to see what happens. I may just eventually replace it with a cellular iPad.
Yeah I guess I am an outlier. Oh well I can continue doing what I'm doing but I will probably have to sit out the next generations unless they change the sensor. Lol I was supposed to be decommissioning Snowball but guess what device I'm posting from and thinking of putting my second sim back in? It is hard to type on this small keyboard though. Pixel 2 has my heart.I can echo what @kkh786 said about the FPS. I have the Note 20 Ultra and the FPS has been almost perfect.
It has been extremely fast and accurate. Then in these days of wearing a mask in public it has been extremely help to me....
It might be minor for SD865 Galaxy S20, but for Exynos countries, it will probably be a great update if Exynos can finally perform as well and efficient as SD875. It then justifies the premium pricing Samsung is asking for the Exynos versions.Yeah minor upgrade
Main differences will likely be a
2nd telephoto lens so better zoom
Better exynos chip or SD875
QHD 120HZ
65W charging was rumoured but think ice said no
Agreed for many the new chip set will be worth it alone.. 2022 will be the one though as will be A chip level hopefullyIt might be minor for SD865 Galaxy S20, but for Exynos countries, it will probably be a great update if Exynos can finally perform as well and efficient as SD875. And TBH, other than foldables, one cannot really expect major upgrades on smartphones anymore. I mean there's even Wireless Dex on the S20 already, something that other flagships aside from Huawei don't even have.
Nice. I can’t wait to see more leaks of the actual phone soon. I still can’t believe they’re going to debut it in January.Ice’s latest leak
S21 U
WQHD + LTPO 120Hz
Support 45W
108MP HM3
Almost equal width bezel
Wow, if this is true, then the rumor of Samsung merging the Note and S line is going to happen. Kinda makes sense. The Note was supposed to be Samsung’s largest phone, but the S Plus and Ultra were blurring that line. Might as well have a single cleaner lineup.

Thinking the next Note will be the Galaxy Z Fold with S pen support.
You beat me to it I saw that and wondered if the S21 Ultra would come with an S pen or just support it...big difference.

Great point....it won't come with the S21U but you can use any existing S Pen. It may be Samsung is just adding more functionality....or this is the beginning of the effort to merge the S line and Note lines as Samsung concentrates on foldablesI’m guessing samsung are thinking if we add separately they can still keep the 5000 battery. I bet we may see cases that gives you option to carry S pen with the phone that way
