Don't give him any attention.

Its clear he has an agenda and is ignoring the countless times Apple has copied Samsung and Android. I wouldnt waste your time.
I was just curious if he had a genuine reply I could laugh at. Unless Apple now own all rights to the colour black....

I was looking at the leaks and rumors on these phones. I was quite surprised to see the non-Ultra models are to be made of plastic now. I’ve got nothing against plastic at all, but I find it interesting that they’re going that route on two of their flagships.

However, I am extremely put off by the spec downgrades in display quality and RAM to name the couple that stood out to me.

I was supposed to send my S20 to Apple in trade for my 12 mini but they offered me only $270 on it. Looking around I decided that was ridiculous especially as my S20 will remain extremely competitive with the S21 in 2021.

The Ultra is the one to keep an eye on. But I don’t think I want that behemoth. Maybe I will, if the 12 Pro Max doesn’t impress me once I actually own it vs trying it out for short periods of time when my husband can spare his.

Unfortunately where the Ultra is concerned, I am really disappointed in the lack of a flat screen.

Personally I was super underwhelmed by the 12 Pro Max. The hardware and feel was excellent. But the display choppiness was noticeable at 60hz and honestly, was not an improvement at all on the 11 Pro Max in any way that was noticeable.

I didn't hear them specify if it was going to be curved like the Note 20 U or the S20 U, but maybe I missed something. Definitely hoping for the latter though, or it means another Note I'll have to skip.

Even though I agree that would make 100% sense, I'm not holding my breath for the Note to die in 2021 either. The Note is such a strong brand on its own, I bet they'll keep it alive even if the S series gets pen compatibility. The Fold and S line are also strong brands on their own and I think Samsung sees it as desirable to maintain all three even though it leads to a ludicrous number of very similar models.
No. Only keep the note and foldables. Why buy the s21 with separate spen?

Is anyone tempted at all by the S21 Ultra with all of the foldables Samsung is working on?

I am honestly a little confused by where Samsung is going. They sort of downgraded the smaller two models of the S series with the plastic construction and different displays.

And for 2020 I thought they already had a budget lineup with their A series and then they took the S20 flagships down a level to the S20 FE.

Now with the smaller two s21 models sporting significant compromises down from what has been considered their top level specs, it looks like they’re collapsing FE versions of this line into the premium version. So what will they do for an encore with the 2021 FE’s? I suspect there won’t be an FE lineup. They don’t need one with the S21 and S21 already at that level.

So that just leaves the huge S21 Ultra to represent their best of the best of the best. It’s the Note killer and the most premium S phone to ever premium. Alrighty then. Go big or go foldable, lol.

Yep. I'll be getting the Ultra on release. It'll probably be the best glass slab android phone released in 2021. And while I'm interested in foldables, I think right now I'll take a basically perfected design rather than a 3rd iteration of a new design, even if it's more exciting. I'm sure Samsung will offer more for my S20 plus in trade in than I would get on Swappa at this point and I'll probably get like $200 in samsung credit for preordering as well. Sounds good to me.

At this point and time for me...the only thing that spurs me to upgrade is the promise of better camera.
The rest of the features kinda blur together after a point.

I mean anyone can get used to a few differences between phones as they all blend together after using them.
I want better user experience and better camera. Those are things that spur me to upgrade.

The camera on the S21 Ultra is supposed to be a lot better than the last generation with a better more refined zoom.
That would be enough for me to upgrade my current Note20U

Wow my 12 Pro Max has been stuck in China for 3 days. Yet Apple sent me the trade in box and started my 14 day countdown for trade in deadline already. Very 2020 of them.

Yeah I can’t upgrade my s20 to an s21 because it would be a downgrade in some key specs and so a net lateral move. I’d have to go to the Ultra and that has a curved screen which I already have and would prefer not to. It is a weird time to be a smartphone maniac. Lol I’m almost cured! 😆

could it be time to give Samsung my dollars for the first time ever?
to me iPhone 12 has been kinda of "meeh"
endless notching since X immemorial; bank breaking magnetised accessories superfluous magsafe etc.
maybe time to experience &/ try something different while waiting on Apple

If the S21 Ultra has a curved display and bezels as thin as the Note 20 Ultra, along with SPen support, I could be tempted
By that. Even tho I would much prefer a Note 21. If Samsung are blurring the lines between the S and Note series, I guess there may not be much of a difference.

I don’t like the notch either but it allows me to transact business. As I’ve said on other parts of the forum, unless Samsung has put a next-gen fingerprint sensor on these phones, I can’t easily transact any business on them.

I started using the complex AI generated passcodes that I have no hope of remembering, let alone typing. With an iPhone, my passcode app authenticates me via Face ID almost instantly and I’m good to go.

A few times my S20 locked me out of a transaction because it could not recognize my prints. I have several registered.

There was a time my prints were legitimately bad. I spent a few years doing landscaping work for my own property and as a volunteer. My hands were rough. I finally finished my own property and lahad to give up the volunteering for various reasons. So I keep my hands in nice shape now. Even with hand sanitizers and washing, I have nice fingerprints. (Jeez autocorrect just tried to say I have nice dingoes. 🤨)

Anyway, moving right along, I am going to sit tight with my S20 and see if any news reveals Samsung upgraded their scanner. The scanner works for most people alright and even works for me some of the time. I think one more generation’s worth of improvements should get me back in the game.

And if you will excuse me, I have to go feed the dingoes.

I hear you.

It’s just that with me I am in a different place altogether.

I have never tried anything outside iPhone but I have come to that stage where iPhone fatigue is catching up given my reservations pointed above.

I am not much of a power user. I am just after something that works. So all those bells and whistles do not really count much.

I also think the camera wrapping around the S21 is a nice touch.

Yikes to the iPhone stove bump that also refuses to go.
The camera has long been sufficient for my needs but it seems to be what also is carrying Apple away from people like me.

Anyway will see how it all unfolds. And yes I have not bothered to buy the iPhone 12 this year.

So far I’ve bought all the iPhone 12 models released this year. I’ve kept the 12 mini. I can’t use it too extensively. I can read a few articles and make a few forum posts on it. But the pwm frequency gives me eye strain and a nasty headache if I linger on it. Which is fine. I’m not using it for anything other than a communicator and point and shoot camera. For that it’s great.

I’ve got a 12 Pro Max coming to me supposedly tomorrow. It’s had a rather unconventional trip to get to me so I don’t know for sure I’ll see it tomorrow. That’s going to be my pocket computer. The device I watch movies and read books on and do my shopping on among other things. Assuming it doesn’t give me watering eyes and blinding headaches. I’ve had some rough luck with the new models this year. I seem okay on my husband’s 12 Pro Max so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I wish you the best of luck and enjoyment for whatever you decide to purchase. If you decide Android isn’t for you, well you know next year with the iPhones it will be the same thing with a few fixes and refinements. You can always jump back for that, I guess.
