Is that the case with Samsung now? For the longest time, Samsung unlocked phones got updates the slowest after the carriers. Word was that had an agreement with carriers to release it last. But I think thats changed in the past few years.
That is what I recall as well. I ordered the unlocked because I use only prepaid services, and that is a concern I have.

A very superficial comparison between the 12 Pro Max and the S21 Ultra. The article is kind of fluff but I like that the basic specs and dimensions are all on the same page.

It looks less wide and a bit taller and a little thicker than the 12 Pro Max. One gram heavier. I hope the slight differences won’t cause me (or anybody else) any issues. I do just fine carrying and holding the 12 Pro Max. I oddly had nerve and joint pain gripping the 12 Pro because of the dimensions and weight distribution pretty much forcing me to use my pinky to stabilize it. I do not have to do that with the 12 Pro Max.

I can’t wait for my husband to get his phone. I want to make sure the display is ok with my weird stupid pwm sensitivity.

I’m on AT&T with an unlocked S20. I don’t currently have my sim in it. I wish I could remember if I had WiFi calling enabled on it or not. Android phones have always been my secondary phones so I kind of stopped worrying about that sort of thing and just gone with unlocked to avoid carrier bloat. I think some guys on Android Central forums said WiFi calling is available but Samsung RCS messaging isn’t.

I checked out the S21 ultra at Best Buy. It doesn’t feel much bigger than my S10 plus in my hand.
The S21 plus looked really nice to me. They had purple one on display, I think it looks better IMO than the S21ultra black. I wish I could have seen a silver 21 ultra. Looking forward to Jan 29th!

Yep i really liked the 21 plus too. The silver is beautiful as well as much as the black , they all look good to be honest its hard to pick one colour over the other.

But speed tests were never really an issue when opening apps faster. it was more the battery life issues and the consistent overheating. Time will tell if this is fixed which I expect it is but opening the odd app faster wasn't the main issue with exynos
Absolutely and the worse photo processing too. Hoping the battery matches the SD at least.

Yeah the 12 Pro Max is oddly the most comfortable phone to hold I’ve ever had. My 11 Pro was like a slippery metal soap bar compared to this. I have a super thin aramid fiber case on it which gives the perfect amount of grip while adding hardly any weight or thickness. After all that “zomg so biiiiiig” whining from reviewers about the 12 Pro Max, it turned out to be nearly perfection for me in terms of in the hands feel.

Fingers crossed that the S21U doesn’t mess with your eyes!!

MKBHD review is almost all positive which is good considering hes usually pretty critical of Samsung. He says at the end that if you gave him the S20 Ultra and told him to decide how he would fix it, he would do everything Samsung did. Also says its Samsung's best ever phone.

the reviews I have seen are very impressed with the overall feel of the issues it did have which is great. Camera wise doesn't seem much different than the note 20 ultra for example but its the kind of improvements you see year on year though. so I dunno if it's worth upgrading just for the camera but those here who get the phone will be a better judge of that.

yeah he's never this positive about a samsung device. you can tell he just doesn't like the software.

In the Verge review, Deiter mentions specifically that the S21 Ultra has almost no shutter lag. Which is awesome if true. He says it has the best smartphone camera just behind the 12 Pro Max.

Good as shutter lag was bad on the S20 series and even fold 2.

What will be interesting to me is how improved it is with photos of kids (your own obviously) pets and moving objects. As I know this area some here have had issues with

Skin tones seem better but saf in his comparison says it’s still not where it should be

Looking forward to peoples thoughts here when you all get yours
