What i meant was there is still massive room to improve the candy bar phones so i am not sure why Samsung is ignoring its most successful phone (Note ) and focussing on the folds.
i know. i was just trying to "pull the rug off your feet" ....yet again

Is the Note line officially dead? :(
As @Healer Flame mention.. not officially. But imo, I think so.

The Note line is known for having a silo for the S-Pen. But Samsung making users pay for a standalone S-Pen… makes sense, business-wise. I’m sure as tech enthusiast… we would prefer having a silo for the S-Pen.

I would be surprised if Samsung returns the Note line. Supposedly, the reason for the delay is a shortage of chips… when Samsung released two flagships devices at the same time. And on top of that UK users are getting the Fold 3 a week early.

I bet a Note 22 is in development but is pending the Fold 3 sales. If the Fold 3 reaches or exceeds sale goals I bet they kill that line. I'm sure they're also watching how many previous Note owners trade in a Note device for the Fold.

If anything, the S22 has a better chance of having a S-Pen silo. And I wouldn't be surprised if midrange lines end up having S-Pen compatibility. The S-Pen just might be the staple of most Samsung phones in the near future.

Most "successful" is relative. Both the S and Note series are far from Samsung best-sellers. Besides, the Note series originally was a success due to the larger screen than the S series. Now with the Plus and Ultra models on the S series, there's less reason for people picking the Note series, when the specs are mostly the same with the S flagships minus the s-pen. In fact, with the need to have the s-pen internally, the recent Note models have been compromised in terms of battery life and price compared to the S+ and S Ultra. I have a feeling Samsung has an internal data showing that majority of people are not even using the s-pen. Thus it makes sense from a product lineup perspective to simply integrate the s-pen capability to existing model, and just have the s-pen as optional accessory for those who really need it, vs having a separate line to include the s-pen.

Plus .....s pen, extra rams, better processor on older models etc...etc...

S21 Ultra is excellent phone on its own right, but with its curved corners, less wider screen than the Note and most importantly the inconvenient s pen case and design was a bit turn off for a Note fans. It just doesn't feel a Note at all.

Lets just hope the S series won't have same fate as the Note after high pre orders numbers for the Fold 3.

The S series is Samsung’s main lineup. It’s the other way around imo. The Z series might get a cut once Samsung introduce an S Flip or S Fold, when the folding tech has become mainstream. :D

I'm thinking about one of the Samsung phones as my upgrade from the Iphone XR. I'm thinking either the S21, + or the FE. The Ultra seems a little too expensive for my tastes. I haven't followed this thread (Obviously) so I'm wondering of those three, which is the better choice.

Compare the three phones in Gsmarena.com. if the Ultra is too expensive i would choose the s21 plus. It has same powerful processor as the Ultra but with a bit downgraded screen resolution, less ram and flat screen.

I have the S21+ and I love it, considered the Ultra but the extra cost and curved screen wasn't worth it over the S21+ IMO.
