Oh goodness I am happy at the end Apple made good on the trade for you. The 14 Pro Max has been the best iphone I've ever owned in terms of "just working". I of course love the purple.Ended up going with the iphone 14 pro max. GF sort of talked me into going this route
Bought from Apple with $100.00 trade in 256 purple model, had to be different!
Reading your trade in fiasco grumpy. I traded my 10.5. iPad pro towards an 11" iPad pro last year. Got an email from apple saying it was "bent" when they got it and "offered" something like $50.00 or they could send it back. I knew damn well it was not bent because not only did I ship it in that pretty tough box they send back, I also left it in its case as Apple said they will recycle it as well.
I called Apple and plead my case and the lady I spoke with gave me the full trade/recycle price.
Today I will seal my Pixel right in the parking lot and film the handoff to UPS.
I'm just a bundle of nerves because I'm supposed to go out of town for a week to fulfill my graduating senior's wish of a celebratory trip with her best friends. But the assisted living called me yesterday to inform me my mom is sick. It seems to be a nasty virus that is going around.
Of course I want my mom to quickly recover for her own sake but also so I can be there for my child. I have in the last few years repeatedly been forced to choose between my children and their grandparents and unfortunately had to prioritize the elders because for them everything comes down to saving lives.
So yeah I am not even going to think about Samsung.
Lol I was looking at your photos and suddenly in my head I heard Debbie Harry singing out "Brooklyn Queens Expressway". I can't for the life of me remember which of her songs that lyric is from. When I was a teenager I knew all the lyrics of all the songs of from several Blondie albums by heart. Now I can't even remember the names of the albums I had. I actually still have them in my closet so I could dig them out. I also may or may not have the Debbie Harry Barbie doll in there, too. I really liked midnight green and alpine green for the pro models. The only time I don't like Apple colors is when they do a very watered down version of a color like they tend to do with purple.
I would really love to see them come out with some colors like we are seeing with automobiles. Some of those intense greys or some of the metallic orange shades and a deep red Pro color.

None of my news apps on my S23U notified me about Tina Turner's death until I unlocked my phone 🤧. She was one of my favorite performers ever. Why can't Samsung/Google fix this persistent issue? It has been going on for years.
I've been noticing this too. I'll get an alert that my garage door closed 10 minutes after I close it. Pretty annoying.

I just found out from you! 😭 But I am avoiding looking at my iphone so it's been in my purse. I see now a notification did come in on my Apple Watch but I must have overlooked it. I don't have news apps notifications set up on my Pixel. Samsungs are on the charger.
I've been with my mom and just kind of tuning out everything else and running errands earlier. I just now got home and sat down.
Wow. Yeah she was part of the soundtrack of my youth. As was Prince and of course he's been gone a few years now. And David Bowie. All gone now. Sigh.
I last saw her on a meditation video on YouTube a few years ago. I'm too hyper to meditate but I liked her videos. I just like her voice. And I had wondered what she had been up to so I had looked her up and came across them.

My husband almost wrecked his kidneys like she did because he didn't know or put any thought into his ridiculously high blood pressure and what it could do to his kidneys. Thank goodness his DENTIST knocked some sense into him in time. I think it was great she was working to spread awareness of this health threat too many people ignore.
She'd been though a lot in life and still tried to put out positivity whenever she could. And she was forever beautiful.

So I've posted a ton of good about this phone. Now onto one annoyance that's pretty significant.
Photo/Gallery App(s)
Since owning this phone, I've been trying to find a way to only live in one app because I cannot stand duplicate apps. But after 3.5 months, I've come to realize that there's just no way to do it. I prefer Google Photos but there are situations, whether it be posting to Social Media or other random situations that I have to also use the Samsung Gallery app. I tend to really be picky about organizing my photos and I will say that to this day, it's still very frustrating trying to manage my photo library because I often feel like I'm doing double the work. I also realize that this isn't necessarily an Android problem, it's a Samsung problem. If I had a Pixel, I could exclusively use the Google Photos app.

If you go into apps and open gallery there is an open links toggle. Turn the toggle off.
Search sleeping apps in settings and there you can add Galary to sleeping apps which is close to disable.
Make sure photos is the default app.
These steps should stop gallery app from opening on websites and only open when you open it.
This way Google photos will in theory be the only app used for photos.
If after taking these steps you still have a problem I would contact Samsung customer service and report the issue and see if they can do anything for you.
Alternatively you can remove the Galary app altogether through adb. This is a somewhat complete process and will require a PC and installation of some tools and connecting your phone to the PC via a data cable.
Hope the solutions I gave will be enough and help.
Thanks! I think the main issue is that Samsung won't let you choose a default Photos app. I think if they gave that option, that would solve the whole issue.
Great example of where this stinks. I take a bunch of pics on a trip, and mark my favorite ones with a star on Google Photos. Get home, and go to post on Facebook, and Facebook automatically takes me to the Samsung Gallery app, and I can't even access my Google Photos app from Facebook. Yeah there's a work around, and I can share directly from Google Photos, but then any editing of that post would have to be done via the Gallery app.
1st world problems, yeah I know.
Has anyone had issues with focusing on their S23 (mines the base model)? I really want to like this phone, but when I take pictures of my dog, even when stationary (Sleeping in weird positions) His fur is slightly blurred/smudged, where as my pixel 7 pro has much better definition, and you can see each individual hair. Is this something that samsungs do? The colour is alot bolder than my pixel 7 pro too. I could live with that, if the images were a bit sharper instead of being soft..
Might want to check your smoothness settings in Camera Assistant. I've gotten some amazing pet shots that aren't blurred. I will say though I've gotten a couple of blurry selfies they I've take with my dog.
I have that switched off, and prioritise focus.. enabled.. I will keep trying, but the pixel picks up detail way better than the s23.
Notifications are one of my main complaints I have been talking about lately. I think it's more of an Android issue and not really specific to Samsung.
For example, my daily Bible quote at noon only seems to come up after I unlock my phone. My bank app, which sends push notifications whenever I use any of my cards, only sometimes will pop up on the lock screen, and only after a long delay. I have a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, and I will get the push notifications, but they are always delayed.
On my iPhone, push notifications are immediate on the phone and the watch.
I didn’t think I had issues but when I went through some prom photos I took and some awards ceremony photos I realized they were super soft focused and a bit overly bright when there was a strong light source. To the point they didn’t look right. So at the graduation I attended yesterday I stuck with my iPhone 14 Pro Max and my Pixel 7a. Unfortunately my Pixel has no zoom worth using.
I’m not faulting the Samsung. I just need to investigate further why my photos are coming out not quite the way they should. I don’t always have issues and usually like my photos from my S23 Ultra.
In other news Samsung just sent me a text that they accepted my trade in and hope I enjoy my new phone. Well that phone was stolen so no, I can’t enjoy it. But between crediting my account and the insurance reimbursement for a maximum that was less than what we paid, we have recovered close to the full value of what I was charged for the phone that was stolen. I think. I don’t know. I’m typing this on my iPhone which is sending daggers of pain through my brain so I can’t think straight. At any rate, I consider it all resolved.

Sigh. Now I just went into my emails and got another communication from Samsung that they didn’t receive my trade in and are going to charge my credit card $500 again! The communication I posted about earlier was a text.
What on earth is going on with them? I’m really not feeling very confident in their ability to conduct business nor trust them with my credit card information and my account. They already had a data breach that did affect me. Now this?
Weirdos.
I’m not able right now to check what’s going on with the credit card nor discuss this with my husband. I’m currently in the middle of taking care of some things for my mom.
Needless to say I’m really living up to my forum name right now.
