the flip galaxy makes the most sense...it is very compact when folded...again our pockets and our suit/clothes lines are not so compromised

Just can’t decide between cream or green…
I want purple. At least in theory. With their weird discount scheme though the higher memory phones are $50 cheaper. They'd still give me $350 for my Pixel 3XL. But I am not really going to use this phone. My heart is set on the Pixel 6 Pro and an iPhone 13 mini. I'm still pretty happy with my S21 Ultra as far as Samsung phones go. At some point I'm going to want a flip phone, but I'm not there, yet. I do think these are sweet, though.

Offtopic but thanks for reminding me that video.

The Z Flip doesn’t make sense to me because of the aspect ratio at 22:9. 6.7” sounds large until you realize you’ve got the exact same screen size for watching 16:9 videos as a 6.06” iPhone 12. What is the purpose of such a tall smartphone that’s over 2X the thickness of an iPhone 12 when folded? I guess the Z Fold just appeals more to me.

Strange comparison... of course it's going to be 2x the thickness of an iphone or another phone when folded. It folds in half onto itself so that's to be expected?

The Z Fold is great an all but I could argue the same for the Fold's external screen - which is too small still to be truly useful when one can't open the phone fully. Trying to type a text message on that outside screen with an adult thumb - nightmare.

I caved and pre-ordered a Phantom Black with a bunch of cases with the free $150 in accessories credit. I've never had a fold, flip or even done much research on them so don't know what to expect but I'm excited to try something different.

I shouldn't drink on days when new tech comes out. I'm going to regret this in the morning!

Oh I hope you have a lot of fun with it!

I was very tempted, too, but I just couldn’t really justify the phone fitting a niche in my lineup right now. Even as a hobbyist, with these things I still want to ensure I’ll use it, and with me having not one but TWO 12 minis, I just know I would not use it enough. The minis fit too well into my pockets and purse so I don’t need a foldable.

I WANT a foldable. I just don’t need one right now. If Apple drops the Mini after iPhone 13 then eventually, yes, I’ll want and need a small foldable like the Z Flip. I’m definitely keeping a keen eye on the development of this line of phones and will be following discussions about them.

Lol I agree with the drinking part, terrible habit that will leave ya homeless.

I like the flip 3 over the fold imo looks like a great phone plus the side fingerprint sensor.

Might cave in depending on the watch 4.

Those considering pre-ordering, I originally ordered the 128gb and got $150 in accessories credit. Looking at it now it says I could use $50 of the $150 to upgrade to 256gb so I canceled the 128gb. Now I have an order for a 256gb and got 3 cases with the $100 credit.

Thanks for the heads up with the accessories credit, @noobinator! I just preordered the 128GB Z Flip 3 and took advantage of the $150 credit to get the wireless charger trio, the leather case, and a fast charger bundle pack. I opted to stick with the 128GB because I know I wouldn’t use the 256GB. I barely use 30GB on my 64GB 12 mini, lol. I opted for the green because ANYTHING IN DARK GREEN IS GOOD.

That’s actually a really good point. I wonder if those looking for a smaller form factor will be satisfied by the flip, since it’s much more pocketable than larger phones.

I hoped that they would be offering esim which would make life easier for people like me that have more than one line. I think Samsung is beholden to carriers so I think I’m going to just stay iPhone from here on out. .

I am seriously considering the Z flip. I am just not sure if it has been ruggedized enough. The waterproofing is a great sign tho.

The spec in my country said it has 1 SIM slot and eSIM, so I assume it should be the same anywhere else as Samsung uses the same snapdragon for all regions (no exynos).

I've been on iOS since 2017, still quite happy with my iPhones but I preordered the Z Flip 3. I've wanted another flip phone so bad ever since my old LG Lotus in '09, but skipped the previous Flips because of the price/availability and all the issues they had. This one hits all the marks though. I can't do slab phablets anymore but a folding phablet is perfect. I won't be switching completely away from iOS, I'll probably be one of those nerds who carries 2 phones but honestly I haven't been this excited about a new phone in a long time. Can't wait, the next two weeks are gonna feel like an eternity 😅

You are correct :), however due to some strange licensing laws or agreements more with Qualcomm than carriers the esim in USA is disabled on most carrier supplied sets on many Samsung phones. You need to check or buy international ones in US to be sure

Esim is not available on US versions of Samsung phones. Also it's not Qualcomm thats the issue on esim in the US it's the carriers and the shady deals that phone manufacturers have with the carriers

Not quite true Note 20's are supported on T-Mobile

Not sure who's been shady here and no different to shady deals by Apple in some countries that they have been fined for :)

It is certainly odd but with an international version + T-Mobile it looks doable

Dayumm. I was so sure I was going Fold 3, but I think I'm gonna do the Flip 3, then Fold 4. I think most people with an itch to dip their toes into the fold market, might go this route. Definitely going storm trooper white, if I pull the trigger.

The Flip 3 is my first foray into the foldable market. The $999 starting price as well as Samsung.com incentives (great trade-in values as well as accessory credit) was the deciding factor for me. I went with the green!
