Rumours sound promising for fold 5

108MP camera
64MP telephoto
little to no crease
S pen slot

will see though

the outer screen needs to be wider, it is simply too narrow.

BTW what is the support like nowadays? I cant imagine many devs bother to update their apps for foldables yet, even 4 gens later? Which is still one of my biggest hold ups.

Surprised to see a huge upgrade to the camera tech... Fold 4 was the first time they upgraded the camera tech, but I think this time has more to do with competition in the foldable space, a win for customers.

It's going to be a gradual step in that process... Fold 4 made it slightly wider, which made it immensely better.

I think support has been good. Google is coming into the foldable space along with bringing a tablet too and I think it's more so having tablet supported apps... not necessarily foldable apps.

Google has been on the update spree with supporting tablet apps and it's only a matter of time we see a widespread of dev support. So far, I've seen support here and there.. but I always try to look for apps with tablet support.

Foldables use the same screen design that tablets use. Most apps will detect the Fold as a tablet and use that layout.

If true, this is an improvement for sure. Especially regarding the crease and how it will finally be flat shut. But I'm really not feeling this size anymore and will most likely get the Google Pixel Fold in October. https://thepixel.vn/man-hinh-galaxy-z-fold5-khong-con-net-ngan-camera-khung/
I’ll look forward to hearing your thoughts on Pixel Fold when its released, but I don’t think Google will call it Pixel Fold… it’ll probably have some letter following Pixel (Pixel U).

Tbf, I won’t be buying the Google foldable device nor Fold 5 when its released, I’m on the every other year cycle... Fold 6 will be on my radar (or 2nd generation foldable Pixel). Rumors point to silo for S-Pen and addressing the crease for the Fold 5 as the biggest features (aside from camera upgrades).

And although, having a silo for the S-Pen is on my wish list… I can hold out for more differentiating design changes with the Fold 6.

Allegedy it's being called Google Pixel Fold internally. I do believe that will be the final name too but we shall see.

Which Fold do you have now?

Maybe, but I would think Google would want to separate itself from Samsung Fold series.

Well, I started with the Fold 2 back in September 2020 and then upgraded to the Fold 4 when it was released.

I agree with your logic. But you also need to make it clear to consumers that it folds. We shall see.

I think the only reason a Fold 4 owner should upgrade to the Fold 5 is if the S Pen is super important to you and it comes inside the Fold 5. Otherwise I would wait for the Fold 6.

I agree with you. I use the S-Pen daily, having it integrated inside the Fold is important to me... but I don't mind carrying the S-Pen with me.

But on the flip side of it... Samsung gives out crazy trade in deals. So, those upgrading from the Fold 4 to the Fold 5... doesn't seem intimidating when the trade in deals are pretty good. Last August, Samsung gave me 1k for my Fold 2 trade in and I'm looking forward to see what they offer the Fold 3 owners when the Fold 5 preorders happen.

I never use the S Pens on my tablet or Z Fold 4. I used to use them sparingly on my old Note phones but since Samsung introduced the text retrieval software for photos/screenshots etc I never need use them again. That's all I used them for, highlighting an area and then extracting the text from it.

I'm OK posting an old sub-$100 value smartphone in to get these kind of deals but I would feel differently about posting in a $1000 value Z Fold 4 for their perusal. What if they lowball you with some shady "screen burn-in" BS and then post back a scratched phone when you refuse their offer?

I've traded in several phones (including fold 3) to samsung and I got full value for all.

I was in the Vodafone store this afternoon and I asked the salesman if they'd had many Z Fold 4 service returns. He said that lots had come back for faulty hinges.😩

Never had any issues with my F1 to F4 or with my Wifes 4 flips hinges and most of which friends or family are still using with no issues :)

Flossy who's a self proclaimed flipologist is hard on the mechanism with no issues

YMMV
Just saying what the man said. My hinges are OK at this point. I am not unhinged yet.🤪

What is the default aspect ratio in the camera app and which one should I be using?
