Well, sh*t. I'm of course tempted by the new (but underwhelming) iPhone but my immense admiration of the Fold 5, and the folding form-factor in general, is making it very tough for me to decide if I'm going to actually pull the pre-order trigger.

It's a crappy feeling because I could not be happier on my S23 Ultra, but I've been dealing with all of those temptations this week. Hang strong and use what you like!

I'm also feeling the dang pressure from my wife b/c she wants off of Pixel after being on it for a long time, and since she works at a hospital with bad cell reception iMessage is always king for us when it comes to messaging. RCS works wonderfully right now in that situation but her mind seems made up on the matter.

That's one advantage I have. My wife hates iPhones, so there's no pressure at home.

I have Care+.. so not really concern with any warranty. Slimer phone? Only by a slight margin. I’m not claiming that the Fold 5 hasn’t improved over the Fold 4, but it’s not worth it for me.

I’m waiting for a wider cover display, which I think Samsung will address with the Fold 6… silo for the S-Pen would be nice. But its not a must.

Controversial and minority opinion here, but a wider cover display probably puts me OUT on the Fold 6, because it means a wider inner display as well.

I would bet if you used one daily it would not be a problem at all ...I use my PF open plenty and it's easy to hold and handle with the dimensions...

It’s a mix bag. I wouldn’t be surprised if its split in half… those who favor the design of it currently and the group who wants it wider.

But I’m curious though.. how often do you use the inner display in portrait orientation?

I exclusively use the inner display in portrait mode, and I'm using the inner display about 50% of the time. The only time I rotate into landscape mode with the inner display is when I'm going to fold it a bit into tabletop mode to watch a video or something at my desk.

I alternate between portrait and landscape when using the inner display… it all depends on the task I’m doing. I rarely ever use the Flex Mode feature, when I sit my Fold on a stand… majority of the time it’s in landscape orientation.

I have a keyboard that I use exclusively for it when I sit it on a stand. Tbf, when I initially used the Fold 2… I took your approach using it primarily in portrait mode. But I found some apps are better optimized in landscape compared to portrait… for instance Google Keep or Solid Explorer (both apps give me dual columns).

Unfortunately I think I got a dud with the Latercase.. The bottom part is loose I could feel it creaking when I grip the phone and it also slides off so easily when I'm trying to remove it which should definitely not be doing that at all...

Unfortunately I think I got a dud with the Latercase.. The bottom part is loose I could feel it creaking when I grip the phone and it also slides off so easily when I'm trying to remove it which should definitely not be doing that at all...

I reached out to their customer service and quickly replied to me ..sent them a video of my issue and they will be sending a replacement along with checking the case before shipping out .. good experience at this time ..

Dumb question alert, but has anyone moved from the S23 Ultra to the Fold 5? I love my Ultra but am just so damn intrigued by foldables and wondering about getting in the game. I think what I'd miss the most is the 10x Zoom camera on the S23 Ultra, so ugh I don't know.

I moved from s21 ultra to fold 4.

I absolutely love the fold, and there is no going back to a slab phone.

Prepare for a big disappointment with the cameras though.

i think S24 ultra users will also miss that 10x lens

as a fold 5 user it's a great device. very much refined from even fold 4
