The Android fan in me will say Note 4. It might be a dying breed of Samsungs with removable battery and sd slot. But since I have also been smitten by the wonderful screen of the iPhone 6 Plus, I wouldn't blame anyone if they stuck with 6 Plus even though I am not much of a fan of iOS.
I played around with a Verizon Note 4. There was a hint of lag here and there. Easy solution - Nova Launcher Prime with animation speed set to FAST. Developer's option set to 0.5x for all three animation settings. Lag is 97% gone with a hint of coming back with too much RAM usage. If so, Greenify. This is 3+ years of experience customizing Android to my liking...
Either Note 4 or 6 Plus, I feel you will be a winner either way. Like picking between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. They each of their set of values that you couldn't go wrong picking either. Comfortable SCREEN SIZE and great battery life is all I really want from a flagship smartphone these days. Both Note 4 and 6 Plus offer them in spades. So you really can't go wrong with either. Battery life is always important like fuel efficiency in a car. Camera offers us memories. If a smartphone can get those three areas right, the rest (like great audio) is just gravy...
