It is hard to be an impressive upgrade on what was already probably the best overall device on the market. It is also hard to justify upgrading from S24U to S25U. But the S25U is the best overall device out now and a "major major major major go" if you don't have a S24U. One top of that the changes and refinements in OneUI 7 make it probably my favorite device to use even over the Pixel and I've long been a Pixel guy. I like the live notifications and where it appears they are headed with that also. One less thing I would miss from Apple if I ever were able to give up my iPhone.
Oh hi Floss! :D

Haha yeah when I saw that sports scores were now part of the live notifications on OneUI, that was definitely a trigger for me because that was the only thing from iOS that was still holding me in. Hopefully they fix the issue where it disappears when you clear all notifications. And have Yahoo Fantasy all set for next football season, haha.

Only thing I'm really missing is the apple watch Ultra. I've never had much joy with Samsung watches but I've not tried the Samsung Ultra watch yet

I slightly prefer the apple watch ultra to the galaxy watch ultra but it's not so much that it puts me off. There are many more watch faces available for the galaxy for example.

People seem to like the shape but honestly I don't love it. Either have it fully square like the apple watch so it can display things to the full on the square display or make it round and more "normal watch" but samsungs square outside but round display seems worst of both worlds to me.

...however honestly it's a great watch and I'm happy with it.

Nice! I am case shopping as we speak even though I hate cases. 🤣
Congrats and yes... cases are the lesser of two evils. In the year of owning S24+, it hit the ground twice. 1st was a slip out of my hands onto wooden floor and second time, fell out of jacket pocket (when getting out the car) and hit asphalt... back/slider side 1st. The case saved it both times from getting dinged up for sure!

I have to show my ID at places for work so credit card sliders are my goto (Spigen Slim Armor CS for 25U is great).

Also worth noting that I haven't used a screen protector with my mobile phones since iPhone 8 Plus ages ago. None of the displays ended up with any noticeable scratches (in the right light a few micro ones were visible on occasion).

Same, iPads is all I've tended to use. Last time I had a galaxy tab was many years ago. I have a Mac for certain things but this could be my browsing device and media device instead of picking up the Mac. Dex is ideal too and this has bluetooth air actions lol also Al built in with circle to search
I have a Tab S8 Ultra. Way more versatile device but man I always reach for that iPad Pro when I want to play media and browsing. Maybe it is just habit. Going to try to take my S8 Ultra along with my S25 Ultra with me to Maui in a few weeks and leave all the apple devices at home except for my MBP which I need for work stuff.

LOL I wish I could talk as much and as interesting on camera as that man on a video that is going to be seen by hundreds of thousands of people if not in the millions. I'd definitely sell out of the construction business and do his job. I started his review on the S25U two days ago and still not even halfway through it.

Yea I hope that issue of the live notification going away is just a bug or something they haven't put any thought into yet. I could see how some people may not want the persistent notification there after they clear it however. But it would be nice to have the option to pin it or something.

I have the 11 inch iPad pro but wanted the bigger screen for sport really

I don't think enough is said about DEX...It is agreta feature for some.
Because it doesn't get market it as much... It's a rarity when you see a reviewer mention DeX and doing a small demo of how useful it is.

Wait a min... you giving up on the iPad? lol I still don't understand what the motive behind "new DeX"... they could of easily made changes to the Classic DeX.

Change the top bar where we access the "close, minimize, full size" to how it is on the new DeX... add more shortcuts, improve mouse support and add widgets.

No, keeping both. Ultra will basically be my media content device for all sport and to try out the software for a computer type usage

Thanks. Yeah I probably watched over 200 YouTube videos at this point. Haha. Almost went with the Z Fold 6 bit cameras are still so important to me. Seeing that moving subjects was heavily improved really was the tipping point. And in analyzing my Apple usage, there’s nothing else tying me. I love my Watch Ultra, but the Samsung version also looks great. Now that RCS is on Apple, messaging doesn’t matter. I really wanted a device that could actually be my personal assistant.

I actually went with the Silver White. So pumped to get it!
You actually did it! Whether it's not a foldable... as long as you moving away from the iPhone, that was the goal all along.

I'm rooting for you! And yeah, the Fold cameras will never be on par with the Ultra series... so that makes sense.

Yeah, I think the perfect scenario could be that if it's cleared from all notifications, there's a prompt to keep it active. It's at least comforting to know that Samsung will probably fix that quickly.

Thanks! I also told my wife not to allow me to go back. She rolled her eyes at me so that's a positive. Haha

Never say Never :) The Fold 6 SE was on the right track :D

I switched from iOS to a Samsung S24+ and was pretty satisfied with it except for the cameras and speakers. I also really wanted satellite messaging after going through a hurricane last September. It took awhile to get over missing iOS but I was really tired of the platform and just ready for a change. I ended up pre-ordering the S25 Ultra with the decent trade in deals.
I didn't think I would see a huge difference in performance but...I was certainly impressed with the cameras, video, speaker sound and the smoothness of this phone.
Also loving the Titanium Grey color and adjusting to the size.

Well, never is a good thing to state in this tech space... but I'm 99% positive that Z Fold cameras will never be on par with the Ultra. Yes, the Fold 6 SE received the 200 MP camera (maybe inexpensive compared to the Ultra because it's not the same lens), but have you have to take into account what the Ultra has to offer.
  • 200 MP, f/1.7, 24mm (wide), 1/1.3", 0.6µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS
  • 10 MP, f/2.4, 67mm (telephoto), 1/3.52", 1.12µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom
  • 50 MP, f/3.4, 111mm (periscope telephoto), 1/2.52", 0.7µm, PDAF, OIS, 5x optical zoom
  • 12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.55", 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF, Super Steady video
Z Fold series haven't even caught up to the 4 camera system yet lol...

And that's the thing. If that's holding you back... then I highly doubt you will ever buy one lol.
They have improved leaps and bounds over foldables just a couple years ago. I do agree they will never be on par with the current "ultra" or "pro" cameras but I think we could get to the point where they lag behind a generation or two. The cameras on the 9 Pro Fold are definitely good enough where I don't feel like I'm missing out if I don't have my P9PXL, 16PM, or S25U and the camera on the ZF 6 is no slouch other than it just doesn't handle motion well without getting a blurred subject. I'm anxious to see what the OnePlus Open 2 camera is like.

I've always thought the Z Fold Series should have to two iterations. A Standard ($1499) and a Ultra ($1999) where the Pro is the decked out version with everything the S Ultra Series has.

I think alot of it comes down to space limitations with the foldables and is there room to fit in all the hardware without making the foldable devices too chunky.

Foldable cameras are certainly good enough... it's not as if it's bad or anything. It's just that if a user values having the best camera in a smartphone, don't choose a foldable.

I commend what OnePlus is doing, but as MKBHD illustrated in his Ultra video... they don't have the backing of carriers like Samsung and Google. I didn't know we can't do wifi calling on a OnePlus device.

So, even if OnePlus is giving foldables the same camera system on their flagship slab phones... support isn't the same as the competitors.

I don't know. I think it's about trade-offs and attempting to get a certain price point... ultimately, they want to maximize as much money they can get.

And the R&D that goes into these foldables... I'm sure the money is ridiculous.
