It is a fantastic watch. I prefer Apple Watch Ultra software but the Galaxy Watch Ultra is a better looking watch in my opinion and battery life much better
I never got the Apple watch as LTE was not supported in Malaysia when I wanted one for my wife when she jogged around the central park in KL

I had several rectangular watches over the years including Cartier and Longines but the design of the Apple watch never appealed to me and no AOD for years was a deal breaker as I did not want a black square on my wrist :)

It's good to see some actual YouTube videos that are actually talking about what the phone can do now. The most frustrating part during my "research" was that almost every review was comparing it to the S24 Ultra, something I didn't care about because I never owned the S24 Ultra. It wasn't until a couple days ago that there were actually some videos posted about the actual phone on its own.

That's because they're all racing to be first. Just shows how even the biggest YouTuber, MKBHD, is just another hack these days. He's made his millions, so he's not as eager to get into the nitty gritty. You won't see him doing any follow up videos like the smaller channels. As if anyone should take advice from people that barely used the phone.

AI video comparison with the 16 PM and S25 Ultra. Removing objects from pictures.
Maaaaaaaaan.. I had a discussion with the Apple folks in iOS 18 beta thread and I told them Samsung does the feature better than Apple.

But they refused to believe me... bringing up "oh it's difficult to do these test" and "it's alot of variables that needs to be considered." I would link this video in the thread... but I give up on it, they likely tell me that video is fake or something.

I slightly prefer the apple watch ultra to the galaxy watch ultra but it's not so much that it puts me off. There are many more watch faces available for the galaxy for example.

People seem to like the shape but honestly I don't love it. Either have it fully square like the apple watch so it can display things to the full on the square display or make it round and more "normal watch" but samsungs square outside but round display seems worst of both worlds to me.

...however honestly it's a great watch and I'm happy with it.
I had this Breitling square watch in the late 60's got it Toronto Airport my mum paid half and I the other from the money saved from my milk round LOL

So my Ultra reminds me of this :)

Nice! Yeah with primarily using windows for work I was thinking I could even edit notes during the day on my laptop, which is really convenient.
Ohh we have not even discussed link to windows/phone link with Samsung and windows

If you can synch on your work laptop you will have a whole host of options and functions available including opening any app in a window and completely controlling your phone from your laptop etc etc :)

Actually, if I remember correctly, link to windows works on my work laptop, just not Dex!

But I have a cheap Surface 3 laptop that I bust out to update my Line 6 pedal.

I thought I read somewhere that the satellite messaging hardware is there on the S25 but not software wise enabled yet ?
I read that about the S24 series, but when I was reading up on the S25 news, Qualcomm said that the new snapdragon 8 elite chip made the S25 series the first samsung phones to have satellite messaging. So i figured instead of waiting around hoping they might enable it for the S24, I would upgrade anyway.
When I set up my S25 Ultra a notification popped up telling me that satellite messaging was available but ONLY through the Google Messages app.

I have not received mine yet. I am afraid it might be too big and chunky. How do you feel holding it? How is battery life?
Battery life has been wonderful for me so far but I haven't used it a lot. Standby has been pretty good. It is larger than my S24+ but I like the feel of it better the S24 Ultra which I returned within a few days due to its large size. I actually tried the 24 Ultra two separate times and returned it because of the weight and size. The S25 Ultra has been a lot easier for me to manage. I'm someone who hates bulky heavy phones too.

That is good to hear. I also do not like huge phones, but the S25 Ultra seemed a far better upgrade than the S25 Plus. Good to hear about battery life as well. How does it compare with the S24+ in terms of battery? My main issue with the S23 is battery life, which is usually about 60% before lunch time.

Also: are you using a case? I am thinking of going caseless.

I really wanted to go with an S25 since I skipped the Pixel 9 Pro this year. But thinking I will revert back to a pixel simply due to the fact that they offer a smaller sized flagship phone with full camera features.

Was really, really, really hoping Samsung would follow the Pixel 9 and offer a S25 Ultra in a smaller size, yet keep their 4 camera system.

Between the two, haven't been super impressed with the Samsung cameras, but still would have got one (despite reviews) just to change things up a little.

It's not even close.

He keeps mentioning Gemini and Samsung interchangeably. How much of the success is google versus Samsung? I actually made a comment on the video asking the same question.

I'm not sure it really matters as all phones are made of many parts from various sources and you can say Samsung are well positioned not only by having good collaborations with Google and MS etc but they are not shy on their own twist on things

Last year on my Fold 6 Samsung took their AI and integrated translation across messaging apps like Whatsapp and Line which is a real game changer in countries like Thailand

I just checked a couple of Photos using Samsung AI which may not be as good as the Google AI on the S25 in all areas

Ashtray removed LOL

Lighter removed (not bad, but S25 should do better)
