Samsung S6 VS 6S ... Oh my Apple ..

Listen, I'm a huge Apple fan. Own a Macbook Pro, iPad, multiple iPhones throughout the years.

I just bought a Samsung S6 as a secondary phone last month and first time using Android .... and I'm shocked by a few things.

* Samsung's OLED display and resolution blows even the 6S/6S Plus out of the water ... out of the galaxy for that matter. Why is Apple behind and offering low resolution outdated screens compared to the best Samsung/Android phones. Please don't bring up battery life. I would die to have an iPhone running iOS with the super crisp Samsung S6 screen. Even photos I take on the S6 and view on the 6/6S look terrible on the 6/6S screen.

* Why isn't Apple catching up with camera capabilities ? They finally upgraded to 12 Megapixels from 8, but kept the same aperture. The S6 camera is simply fantastic and makes the iPhone 6S/6S+ camera look amateur in comparison. I'm aware if Apple tried to match the S6 camera they'd need a bigger sensor and camera would get bigger, so maybe that's the reason.

Only con I have with the S6 is the battery life. But at hundreds cheaper than the 6S/6S+ and beating it in every category except battery life, I'm kinda perplexed at Apple keeping their phones outdated.

That's why Apple keeps getting away with it. iOS does have better quality apps overall, but Samsung's handsets are far superior in my opinion. I hope they can at least get to that level for iPhone 7 next year ... but then again, Samsung will probably have an 8K video recording and VR

While all this may be true, I don't like the cluster F that Android is. It reminds me too much of windows/pc interface. Stuff is everywhere, not intuitive (at least to me), not user friendly and I don't like the bloat.

Next, I am all Apple. It works perfectly when I need it to and sync's like it should everywhere. I don't have to fiddle with it or do anything special. I also don't like plastic phones and I also do not like Samsung's business practices.

They could have the best screen on the market with 3 day battery life - No.

I'm glad Apple don't use AMOLED. Samsung's AMOLED is suck. I don't like over saturated color & burn-in issues.

Overall I like iPhone 6s except for the camera. Apple really need to do something on the camera. It lag far behind other competitors.

The ultra high resolution screen requires a faster GPU just to keep up. I'm guessing Apple is waiting until it is satisfied with the performance before it makes a resolution change for a relatively minor aesthetic improvement.

As for the camera, even with supposedly inferior specs, the iPhone 6S camera still fares well in comparison tests.

Remember, Samsung is the challenger here. They need to put out bleeding edge specs (or at least perceive the need to do so) since Apple is so much more profitable.

Samsung SAMOLED is awful. It has burn-in problem on every single phone that they sell. The color is also oversaturated.
I honestly don't get why people even prefer such inferior screen... Samsung paid/fan maybe?

Also, the camera on S6 is alright, it's not as good as iPhone 6 still for most cases. The point and shoot failure rate is much higher and on low-light it's practically unusable. The only thing S6 is better than iPhone 6 in camera is the pixel count, which you can only tell if you zoom all the way in to see the 100% crop. If you want to compare camera to iPhone, I would suggest pick LG G4 to compare...

iPhone wins in software, apps, 3D Touch, battery, and stability.

Note 5 wins in screen, charging speed, and OS versatility.

Both are pretty neck and neck in processor speed and camera.

I look forward to the next year with this iPhone, but the op has a point.

Burn in is not a consistent problem anymore. The screen is rated the best on the market.

Higher resolution, infinite contrast (huge advantage over LCD), it has saturation settings, and last year was proven to be the most accurate panel over Apple.

At least the OP has some legitimate comparisons. I too will be glad when the resolution is upped, because around 1200p is quite sharp, but I'm fine for now.

I can see why some prefer OLED, particularly for deep black level.

But the resolution does not blow iPhone out of the water. On SMOLED display, only green dots have the full resolution. Red and blue are half as many. Specifically, S6 has 2560 by 1440 resolution for green dots and 1280 by 720 for red and blue dots. That is far short of iPhone 6S Plus's 1920 by 1080. But I grant you that S6 will look sharper overall than iPhone 6S's 1334 by 750 resolution if that makes you feel better.

Furthermore, OLED wears out much more quickly (it will have half as much brightness after about 5 years of active use), although for all practical intent and purpose, you would have replaced your phone by then.

The S6 camera is simply fantastic and makes the iPhone 6S/6S+ camera look amateur in comparison.

You've only recently switched to Android and you are already looking at specs?

While some may subjectively prefer S6 over 6s in certain scenarios, it is fair to say both perform at similar ballpark overall.

One thing I would add about S6's screen however. I was skeptical of Edge's cured screen, but having tried both S6 Edge and S6+ Edge in person, I thought they were amazingly immersive. That edge-to-edge coverage gave the illusion of not having any bezel even with top and bottom bezels.

I sure hope that iPhone 7 will eliminate or greatly reduce the size of bezels. And Samsung should make Edge a standard feature for flagship phones.

Ive used the S6 since it launched and used a iPhone 6 before that and now the 6s so I can tell you first hand it does now blow the iphone out the water. Does it have better specs on paper? Yes of course, and I enjoyed using it for a while. I think most people know Samsung phones have more features but it all comes down to software and overall user experience which iPhone leads by a mile. Most people choose iphone because of the simple, user friendly interface, app selection and quality. Android, especially Samsungs version Touchwiz has come a long way but still nowhere near as fluid as iOS. Its still very glitch in comparison.

Seriously. 1080p looks amazing on my 55" TV, why on earth would I need more than that on my 5.5" phone?

Its only over saturated if you set it that way. Might be too used to iOS to realize there are settings for adjusting this? Besides Samsung is the leader in AMOLED tech bar none. Where does that leave Apple devices with AMOLED like the Apple Watch? Do you honestly believe Apple won't eventually push all there tech that way?

I feel the 3D Touch is going to be the crutch Apple leans on when they make the push for AMOLED in an iPhone. You know, because compromises had to be made right?

Don't use a case, or buy something similar to the crappy cases tbey have for the S6 Edge.
Manufacturers don't design phones with a case in mind, just look at all the curved screens now that don't take full edge to edge screen protectors.

4k does have benefits beyond resolution, but battery tech simply isn't worth the trade off at this point.
