8gb ram, full OS, battery free Wacom EMR pen, 12" AMOLED screen , included fast charger, included pen and type cover, same battery life as the ipad pro 12.9. This thing hits all the major marks i need as a visual artist.

Apple, you woke yet?

Do it, jump ship mate. What are you waiting for?

I stopped by the Microsoft store in the local mall yesterday, and I will admit that the new Surface 5 tablet looks really nice. They weren't in stock yet, but they had a few review units on display. I think the weight is very similar to my 12.9 iPad Pro, and the built in stand is very nice. In terms of hardware, they are definitely a step above Apple. But then when I started to play with it, I realized that Windows is still Windows LOL. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next iPad Pro looks like. :)

why oh why cant Apple make something like this? not a big enough market? i just dont get it. i love apple products, but living with the limits of the software and hardware just places the device in the toy department for me. fun and easy to use but worthless when i need to do some work. i cant rely on a ipad pro as a back up device to my art business. Say if my Wacom mobile studio pro breaks or gets lost. im out of work. i need two tablets that can get work done that are portable and fast enough to tackle big projects. The ipad pro wont cut it. its just frustration city for more advanced workflows. some half baked hack like Astropad attached to a mac book pro- does not cut it. i dont want to look like a douche from 10 years ago. I need hardware that can do the work.

ill sure miss the smoothness and performance of procreate, but who cares. photoshop does everything and more, and it works well enough on these wintabs.

I hope apple has something up their sleeve, but after almost 2 years with the ipad pro and the half a$$ apple pencil i am almost looking forward to jumping ship. maybe the grass is always greener, except wait, i already have another windows tablet. it works great. Wacom EMR does pen tech so much better.

fingers crossed that apple will actually innovate and give content creators something juicy in the next update. i really want to stay in the apple ecosystem- since im already invested, and it does do ALLOT of things right.

ok sorry for the rant im just annoyed with apple and feeling some serious techno-lust. I spent all my art school years on Apple and now i feel abandoned. Between the ipad pro and the nMac Pro im starting to loose faith in apple for content creation. Fortunately windows 10 actually works really well and has a good tablet mode that allows full functionality of the entire OS, with just your hands. So there are options that work for me.....

I don't dispute that you can run pro level apps on it. That's not Windows itself.

I'm talking about (for example) the archaeology expedition that is exploring the Windows GUI (or shell) to do anything beyond basic desktop usage as far as maintaining the platform goes.

There's still lots of bits of Windows NT in there, they haven't ported most of the control panel to the new UI (in 5 years), huge parts of the GUI are still single threaded and a single app can interfere with the whole GUI, the desktop scaling (between multiple different DPI displays) is broken because Microsoft half-assed it. Depending on the app, some dialogs on a mix of high/low DPI displays are completely broken with buttons not rendered inside the dialog box (e.g., SCCM 2012), etc.

The filesystem is still brain damaged in so far as opening files that are already open in a second app, the UI elements that snatch focus (e.g., be typing in application A then a dialog from app B pops up in the foreground and you type into it maybe closing it), etc.

Windows, whilst it CAN be used for pro level apps, it a farce. Its barely good enough for people to write decent apps for, but it is everywhere. That is its only advantage. The fact that it is common.

As an actual platform, despite the application availability - the platform itself is GARBAGE.

Oh and the bugs. The bugs. VSS errors from Windows' own processes not using VSS properly. As above mentioned wake from sleep - still doesn't work reliably even on MS' own hardware.

AHHH, Windows NT, My FAV OS, Followed by Windows 2000, was downhill from there, jumped ship

If these aren't issues for you, good for you. Personally it drives me absolutely insane when i am working in one application typing away, and then another application pops up a box over the top of what i am working on, which i inadvertently end up typing in and maybe even hitting enter on because i type fast, often whilst not looking at the screen whilst i am watching something else.

Admiring the vista outside while smashing out that next killer app. Gold. :)

i picked up a galaxy book 12. 8gb ram 256 model. pros; battery life is about what i was getting on my old 12.9 ipad pro but not nearly as good as the 9.7 ipad pro. I like the wacom pen a bit more than apple pencil. it never needs to be charged, better feel on screen and better pressure curve. very accurate like the apple pencil but it has a cursor, which i like. extreme precision. Best screen i have ever seen. seriously amazing gamut. better than my cintiq 27!!!

One cool thing is i can still use my ipad pro as a second touch enabled screen with duet display. works really well for my nomadic lifestyle. so im keeping my ipad pro as a slave second screen. seems fitting. lol.

cons; right now is wacom is lagging releasing a driver so its bit buggy. Just a matter of time till thats fixed though, and really i do heavy lifting on my MSP16.

another con; the new surface pro came out. could be a better solution for battery life, but no one has tried the new surface pen so it might not be desirable to creative pro's. but it comes with i7 processors and 16gb ram. but considering i already have a mobile studio pro 16 and just need a light cheap back up system ill probably just stick with the samsung.

ipad pro is still my favorite content consumption device though.

Stop with silly rant, Apple is not going to stop you, you are free to switch to Windows laptop anytime.

lol ok. switched to a windows tablet.
