Keep laughing bro, 16 is dimmer at the same brightness level, proof is in the picture! Yes I returned it!
They’re terrible. Here’s mine 14PM v 16PM, I’ll be sending mine back next September.

You may have returned it for no reason. This has been mentioned many times in this thread—the 16 is able to get dimmer than previous iPhones, so the scale of the brightness slider has changed (ie. at the same position of the slider, and the lower the position of the slider, the 16 screen will look darker than previous iPhones). So you can only really compare at absolute max and min brightness to gain any meaningful information.

Just went today to the Apple store to compare some screens. Result: all the iPhones 16P and 16PM were less bright then my 13 pro and 16 plus, sometimes significantly dimmer, same conditions. It’s a pity that the 16 plus doesn’t have promotion otherwise would have been a perfect phone.

Just compared my 14 Pro and 16 Pro. Both with Samsung panels. The 16 Pro is brighter (at max) than my 14 Pro at same levels and overall 1:1 on the other levels (I tested different brightness levels). Very happy!

Edit: G9P panels.
Edit #2 - 14 Pro left / 16 Pro right. In reality the 16 Pro is noticeably brighter. The photo is kinda eh... taken with old Samsung Note 9

How do you know the panel?
3uTools or iPhone's it's own Sysdiagnose if you dont have or don't want to use it.
Apparently but I’ve seen no official confirmation of this.

Pixel 9 also hits 3000 nits compared to iPhones 2000 nits and has the highest rated display this year so I don’t see how the iPhone 16 has the same panels.
They do. Ross Young confirmed it already. Apple just don't want to push the display more than this. But it's M14 with new red color host. It's also more efficient. Part of that reflects on the general battery life.

Show a photo of 14PM next to the 16PM with the following brightness level and lower.

Samsung and BOE.

No lg in the mix? And what are the panel models? Are they just stripped down versions of 16 pro and pro max or a completely different one?

They look good to me! And a tinge better than what I saw on a couple 15 plus models

(Quite possibly panel lottery though would never rule out that variable)

No LG. They are "stripped" down. Using the old M12 OLED materials.

Thanks!

Did that overview of m12,m13,and m14 go up yet ? I find this stuff interesting

I wonder if the dude above who swapped 6 times and got a new batch on 18.0.1, is an LGD that just ID’s as Samsung

I also wonder if my 16 plus is Sammy or BOE

But either way looks great to my eyes I’m still super happy with my unit

I'm hearing in a discord chanel where they talk about the dev 6 beta of ios 18.1 seems to fixed the brightness issues ? Is there anyone else here if they can confirm this plz

Wow, I'm seeing for the first time someone with LG on 16 Pro! Are you happy with it? Any issues with gray uniformity or tinting?
I don’t think I would have an informed opinion, I checked it out just out of curiosity, I have no point of comparison and I don’t know if I can tell the difference between them. I don’t have such a keen eye to be able to tell, but I don’t see anything wrong with it. How can I check if it has any issues or something?

Sysdiagnose (here). Than open the generated .tar.gz file and you have to read IODeviceTree.txt which is stored into ioreg folder. You are looking for raw-panel-serial-number.

Thanks do you have to run any specific hw tests after initiating diagnose mode (post vol + and -)

Not seeing sysdiagnose in analytics part of settings

No. The file should be there generated. Than you have to read it from PC/Mac as I described.

Ah ok

But it should show up in analytics list right?

Or hidden until connected to computer ?

I ran multi touch test just to see and still don’t see it in analytics. All good though doesn’t matter much to me which one I got

I tip my hat off to you for your honesty.

Do you have iMazing 3? I have that installed on my PC.

In that, I selected my iPhone 16 Pro Max. From there, I went to Tools > Export Sysdiagnose. I followed the instructions and it sent the tar.gz file straight to my PC. According to IODeviceTree.txt, my raw-panel-serial-number begins GVCH, so I guess that means I have an LG panel.

I'm pretty sure the free version of iMazing 3 will do this.
