Same problem here. And phone support couldn't be of any help (as for the Mail Search bug). :-(

I'm having the same issue. I have a Mac mini M1 (16mb), and I'm running Big Sur 11.0.1. I'll be in the middle of doing something and the screensaver starts without warning. I haven't been able to exit out of it. I've had to reboot.
I have the mini too. When it happens. Press command option eject. That will put the computer to sleep and shut down the screen. Wait about five seconds until the screen has gone black. Then press return a few times to wake it back up. A pain, but less so than rebooting.

It is connected to multiple accounts. When my wife didn't use computer in the last few days, it was ok. Yesterday she was using it on her account, and the problem happened to me. Maybe the other account goes to sleep and this is the problem? Report if You have multiple accounts too!

I have multiple accounts !
I've just deactivated the screensaver in the other account too. I'll let you know if it does come back.

As of my date stamp for my post, I have the same problem. Clearly a bug in the system. I'm tossing my post into the hat just to increase numbers for reporting bug.
Interesting point on the multiple accounts. I'll give that a try.

So I was on the phone with Apple a couple of days ago with my MBA M1. Kept happening. Have 4 accounts. I set each account to a different screen saver all for 1 hour. I originally thought it might be because I didn't change it from the defaults (none and never). Still kicks in. I don't think randomly now. It's probably an hour as I set it. BUT, it might be that th trackpad activity doesn't register as "activity" per se. I was just RSS reading and just track-padding. I don't think I ever hit a key on the keyboard and it kicked in. I guess an experiment would be usage via keyboard instead of just track pad. And see if it kicks in. Apple escalating my case to an engineer. Also, the screen saver that kicked in was the one I set. So the theory about another account actually affect another with inactivity would be false. It was definitely my own screen saver.

I have multiple accounts.

Just happened on the latest 11.1 beta (the release candidate that came out this week).

i have the same issue in that the screensaver pops up out of nowhere. I have two accounts set up on this MBA. This looks to be a software bug somewhere.

Just had this start happening on a new M1 mini. Had it for 2 weeks without issue, then in the last 2 days this has happened twice. Screensaver came on out of nowhere while I was working on something

Yeah happens on our M1 Air even with 11.1. If it’s not fixed in the next one I’ll probably return it

???

The screensaver is coming on even when you've set it to “Never”?!

That's bizarre...
Same here. New M1 Mac mini, just did update to 11.1 yesterday, and it's hit me 2x this morning. Keyboard responds w/ audible input, mouse moves, but screensaver won't disengage. Have to hard reboot.... lame.

Happened again after 11.1 and Safari, Notes, Apple Music were the only apps running and did it twice. I was actively typing and using the keyboard. Closing and reopening lid deactivated the screensaver.
I’ve always had screensaver set to never on all my Macs since 2009 and this is the first time I’ve had this issue. Otherwise my MacBook Air 7gpu model is AMAZING. :):):)

Honestly this is ridiculous. Did they not test these machines? I'm sick of how buggy Apple software has gotten, considering they make their own hardware and there should be relatively little hardware/software compatibility issues there is really no excuse for things like this. (Once in a while would be fine, but I encounter stupid bugs all the time, multiple times a day, on all my Apple devices.)

Same issue here on my Mac mini. Screensaver disabled on all of my users.

Pressing shift + control + eject. multiple times works for me.

Just happened to me with my M1 MBA I got 2 days ago. It is running 11.1 and there are two accounts setup. Closing and reopening the screen fixed it temporarily.

After several weeks of daily use, I had this issue for the first time today. The only thing that has changed recently is that yesterday I started using an external 4k monitor as the primary display while using the laptop screen as a secondary display. Prior to this, I was using a lower-resolution external display in clamshell mode (the lid was closed so it was the only display).

What is strange is that, when trying to find ways to deactivate the screensaver without putting the computer to sleep, I activated Siri using the Touch Bar and asked her to "deactivate the screensaver". Instead, she "activated" a second screen saver over the first one. Moving the mouse made the second screensaver go away and reveal the first one again.
