is it risky to ship to the UK if the buyer is paypal verified and has a confirmed address?

I've never had payment held back by PayPal and I have had many sales of well over $1000. It depends on your seller rating and other issues you may have had with buyers. There is more to your story you aren't telling if they are holding your payment.

you guys forgot too that after struggling to get a "real" or "serious" buyer, then you have to jump through the paypal hoops. dont plan on getting your money the instant it is sent:
(From paypal email)

I understand protecting the buyer. How about protecting the seller? I have 100% positive feedback and have been a member since 866mHz and a "premier business member" with paypal. Im about to drop them from an option next time. good thing i have a decent job and not worried about getting my money sooner than 21 days later

Shipping anything overseas is risky. You have to figure out the payment of import tariffs and customs inspections can hold the item for quite awhile; is it worth it for $300-$400 items? Probably not for me, since I refuse to sell anything overseas. Also, once you ship it overseas, it's really difficult to get it back, should something happen during the transaction. Fake PayPal emails are more prevalent than actual emails from PayPal.....:(:(:(

Canceling

How do you cancel someone's bid. I've got someone bidding with 0 feedback despite my description saying not to. I can't figure out where the cancel option is.

Thanks

I am just doing mine as a buy it now auction. Set the buy it now price up there and then set it up to email you if they make a lower offer. You can easily weed out the foreign buyers, the ones with no feedback, etc.

ridiculous

I am having the same problems, though my buyers seem legitimate at first. I listed my phone a month ago. Won a bidder at $300 who had >160 positive feedbacks, no negative. He didnt pay and didn't respond. Had to wait a week for him not to pay, then a week for the resolution to close. Relisted the item. SAME DAMN THING. This time with a buyer that only had 2 positive feedbacks. I'm starting to think that Apple is intentionally somehow screwing people trying to sell old iphones by making false bids. I've never ever had a problem like this on ebay and had sold lots and lots of stuff. Now all the the sudden this happens not once but twice in a row and it seems others in this forum are having the same problem? I don't think it is a coincidence. I think Apple has contracted out some people to make false bids preventing these phones from being resold.

I think you're on to something!

...not.

There are lots of scamming 0 feedback sellers as well. Trying to buy MacBook air earlier this week, eBay was littered with those. I feel bad for the poor people that actually bid on those.

I've just sold my 2G on ebay, to an American bidder (I am in Australia), who promptly sent me a message asking me to post it to her boyfriend in Nigeria! What the hell is with people in Nigeria seeking iphones out on ebay?

i've just put my 2G iphone on ebay to sell
hopefully i won't get any of these problems
i'm also in australia and have written in my listing that i'll only sell to australian buyers unless the serious international bidders contact me first and i agree to sell to them.

btw reoreiily, how much did u get for ur 2G? just wondering what i'll get for mine ;) did u actually send it to nigeria? sounds dodgey

I sold three iPhones and a MBP and a MB and all sales went through without a problem.

I did get the usual buying for my daughter and can you ship overseas messages. I just ignored those.

First listing and winner was an international bidder even though I specifically said I wouldn't ship overseas. My mistake as I didn't block international bidders in my auction. Anyhow, winner claims they lost their credit card and was waiting on the bank to issue another one....whatever.

So I relisted and this time the winning bidder has ZERO feedback. Contacted buyer via email and sent invoice...Natta, nothing, zip.

Is there a way to block people from bidding with zero feedback? Maybe third time is a charm.

I didn't know we can ask ebay questions in here lol

$400 :) I only asked what I paid for it, just wanted my money back.
Since I informed the winning bidder that their preferred method of postage will cost $70, the cheaper option being $40, they haven't responded. It sold in less than 12 hours, so if I don't hear from them within another 3 days I am just going to report them as a non-paying bidder and re-list. I completely forgot to sell to Australian buyers only, unfortunately, so now I am bound to post it to Nigeria unless they don't cough up the cash.

I don't use eBay because it seems like the wild, wild west - an impression confirmed by this thread and by the very negative experience my ex had. You'd think eBay would set limits on the price a buyer can offer given their history (e.g., newbies with no feedback can offer only $50 or less on an item).

nice. i'd be happy with $400 for mine - let's hope i get it!
anyway u should have at least tried to make some money off it!
oh well as long as u get the money who cares where u have to send the phone to right? actually no. make sure when u post it that it's all registered with tracking etc or they could claim it never turned up and demand a refund!
anyway good luck with it :)

eBay is a real pain. You can't block zero feedback bidders. You can put all the messages you want in your auction but you can't block the bids. And if they win you are obligated to sell. :(

Also if an auction winner doesn't pay (I had that recently) eBay will refund the listing fee so you can relist for free. I now use buy it now with immediate payment to PayPal required. If they don't pay within a short period it is automatically relisted. Best solution I've come up with.

I should make the point that everyone was once with zero feedback. How could you discern between ones who are legit and not with zero feedback.

Smells like a scam!

Very true. I've been trying to tell that to people for years now. Ignoring 0 feedback people isn't the best idea. As we've seen from this thread, even people with all kinds of feedback can suddenly become a non payer. Things happen.

Do you have monkey turds to sell? Or are you just testing the market?

Testing the market, we're in production though.

If it makes you feel better, my iPhone 3GS sold on eBay today at $650 to a nice man in New York who paid promptly via paypal. There are good people out there. I promise. :)

I really hope I am not getting scammed - for the record, I have zero feedback and put 5 items on for sale the other night and sold 2 things (iPhone included) within 24 hours. However there are a lot of people out there who can't follow simple directions - e.g. I requested that my buyers not use paypal because for some reason I can't log in, and of course I've beed paid via paypal for my PS2, so I can't access the money.

But about the iphone, I don't especially mind where I post it, as long as people aren't going to say they never received it etc, so I will definitely be taking funkyc's advice and only sending as long as I can track it.
