- therefore all new Apple Intel machines are a ripoff because they cost more and there are some bugs that my friend's friend has experienced

4. Reliability
- I have read all the major Mac user forums and have discovered that a majority of people posting on them have hardware problems

Think about what you just said...I'll give you a second

Ok, you said that your friend's friend had an experience and the next word is reliability. Don't rant about reliability when your sources are what your friend's cousin read while he was bored one day at work and decided to look at mac rumor sites. If you were to look at all the members of this site, I doubt there are a majority of people with hardware issues. It's actually very small. It's the fact that you sign on everyday to macrumors and see the same post from yesterday because someone can't use the forums so you think "oh here we go again..." Your thread makes no sense. We are here to answer questions. If you want to wine like a baby then go to the mac store. You said it yourself, you've worked with them for years. If you don't like them then get a stinkin pc!

Just my 2 cents

Hmm. I think we're getting a good indication here of who reads the whole thread before posting....

I think YOU need to think about what he said. Especially these bits:

- overall I am very knowledgable in the my specific needs
- BUT I have a unwavering opinion on everyone's else needs

...

when you compare the price of PC against equivalent Mac, they are always different, some more expensive, some less, BUT NEVER THE SAME PRICE!

....

I can get a PC with Vista and it is the same... well except all the PC s/w works differently and is not integrated

...

- it is pretty obvious that you can still run OSX on PPC hardware that in many cases is more cost effective than buying a new machine
- therefore all new Apple Intel machines are a ripoff because they cost more and there are some bugs that my friend's friend has experienced

...

people (mainly in the US where return policy is very liberal) have returned dozens of faulty machines

...

We just want to be able to run Final Cut Extreme on a Mac Mini with a 42" monitor for under $1000, is that too much to ask?

Seeing a pattern? :p

just wanted to say, my posting was just intended to enlighten some people.
Uh huh. Whatever helps you sleep at night ;)

Nice bit of humor, I'd have to say. Although it's even better that so many people are either arguing or agreeing with the OP.

Yes....*you* added disclaimers but what value are they? Until such time as the *OP* makes his intentions clear, it remains up for debate. So how about it, Pete.....'wanna come back and visit us? :D

:p

Hi All,

Thankyou for all your feedback! It was definitely a joke!!!

It was kind of a reflection of some of the postings I have read recently where the poster claims absolute truths about problems, apple marketing, etc.

I thought the following statements were dead giveaways ...

(1) portablity BUT with workstation power
(2) ... very knowledgable in the my specific needs ... unwavering opinion on everyone's else needs
(3) some more expensive, some less, but never the same price

But if you missed those I thought that ending with this one would clear any doubt ...

(5) returned 10 XSERVES because they are so f***ing NOISY

If anyone has configured a rack server, the fans in them sometimes sound like a plane taking off!

My first impression was that the OP was nuts.:D

I don't understand how the post can be taken serious.:p There are so many holes that for that post to be taken serious is amusing in itself.

Bravo peter.

That has brightened my late night forum browsing. Thanks for that wonderful piece of humor. And by the way do you know anything about PC hardware prices? Have you compared the mac pro with the dells?

Just to throw my opinion in on the Hardware complaints by forum posters of various sites.

One of the biggest reasons people seek online Mac forums is to complain. This is based on my near 2 years on MR and seeing how many times the same crap comes up whether it is a warranted complaint or someone complaining that there iBook appears warped when closed :(

People come online to complain, it is what they do. Those with perfect Macs and no complaints are never heard of and there are Many Many more of those people out there than the complainers (like the OP!). :D :D :D

But seriously folks...

Try spending 2 hours on the phone with Dell's tech support in India, trying to get a $15 part for your wife's PC laptop, being bounced between three or four people who end up overcharging you because of thier back-ass-wards internal communications....

I'll pay anything for a Mac and the Apple Care plan...:)

HA your not the only one....

humor, what humor?

Perhaps I am missing the point here, but I didn't think it was funny, I didn't think anything of it at all, I don't know why it was posted, or what purpose it had therefore.

you'll never be a comedian I'm afraid....

why has humor gone downhill, would have been a better title for this thread.:apple:
